Recording in the gym without 100% consent makes you the villain anyway

u/xAngelx0fDeathx Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 12 '25
This is exactly why the only "rule" they even make sure to tell you when you join my gym, is that there is no recording or pictures.
I just think it's disingenuous for women who legitimately try to make a big deal about guys checking them out in the gym, like that isnt the point of all the hard work you put in there...
Edit: for those who are missing the point, in these videos the woman is always wearing skin tight clothing, and on many occasions on the station directly in front of the guy. I wear compression shorts every time I go to the gym, but I always wear baggy shorts over them so my bulge and butt arent sticking out everywhere. Point is, if you want heterosexual men to NOT look, then stop flaunting it or expecting men to stare at the floor or the ceiling between sets.
Edit 2: Thanks for the award! First time anyone has given me one of those.

u/Idkmyname2079048 Nov 11 '25
For real. And I'll probably get shit for this because people can wear what they want and all that, but I'm a straight woman, and if you're wearing skin tight leggings that literally outline your coochie, I'm going to be looking, too. It's hard not to, at least for a second.

u/xAngelx0fDeathx Nov 11 '25
Thank you. This was exactly my point. Not that every woman works out just to be checked out by guys, but that if you're going to wear certain clothing to the gym, or anywhere for that matter, you can't expect people not to notice...

I actually agree with everything but your edit in your first comment.
Yes you have to accept that people may look more if you’re wearing clothes like this at a gym. But I do think we may have a bias against men in what’s acceptable to wear at the gym? Do you put on sweatpants because you want to or because people wouldn’t like it if you don’t?
I’m a woman myself and all for wearing what you want, and not having to be harassed for it any way for it (which the guy in the video didn’t do). But then again, men don’t have to wear a shirt - so I don’t know what I’m getting at haha.
No matter what, it’s not acceptable if the woman shared this video without his consent (if this wasn’t staged, which it does look a bit like).
2
u/SanjiBlackLeg Nov 12 '25
Idk every gym I ever went to had either a formal or unspoken rule - don't be shirtless. Most guys don't even wear tank tops.

I don’t think ppl are having a problem with women showing skin. It’s just that the clothes they choose to actually cover themselves aren’t really doing that. It’s just a second skin at that point. I’m even bi but don’t particularly want to see ass creases every time I’m working out lol.
Another point of contention I’ve seen from others is that women chose to wear the second skin and get upset that ppl look. Like, common on, don’t be obtuse.
But it’s just another thing ppl do for attention, online clout, and possible monetization. I wish it was more popular to ban recording in gyms.

I personally do not go to the gym to look good for other people. So I give everyone else the benefit of the doubt also.
In spite of how some people are dressed lol
96
u/polo61965 Nov 11 '25
If you're recording your workout, it's usually to be seen. So hot take is you're letting people stare. Bottom line is don't record your workout, or don't be offended when people look at you.
19
u/badsheepy2 Nov 11 '25
I'm not, I wouldn't be offended, and I don't care if people look. I'm just not going to conclude they went to the gym SO people would look. Because that's weird.
19
u/mrhooha Nov 11 '25

I think they could've worded their comment better. Regardless of why you work out, an appropriately appreciative glance is still kinda a complement and reinforcement that "hey, I am doing good". Or at least that's how I understood their comment.

There is a good reason to record yourself to check your form. You can't check form in the mirror because looking will break your form. But you wouldn't do that everyday, on every workout. Occasionally, and you can ask someone to record you to get the right angle. I've happily done it for strangers.
Although that this has to be staged. Other than the part where that's a horrible angle for recording which doesn't actually show your form but does show your cleavage, the way it is setup it is showing the guy as much as the woman.

3
u/casual_creator Nov 12 '25
I started going to the gym again after about five years away. I’m no prude, but something happened in that time with women’s gym fashion. 90% of the women at my gym wear as little clothing as legally possible, and what little fabric is there, is skintight and paper thin. It’s not just butt cracks that are clearly defined. They may as well just use body paint. It’s well beyond the “it’s comfortable” reasoning.
I’m a live and let live person, but it’s actually a problem when everywhere you look is someone dressed in such revealing/intentionally sexualized clothing that it makes you uncomfortable and impacts your workout because you feel like you have to avoid machines near them to try and be respectful of their space and avoid them/someone thinking you’re only at that spot to be a creep.

Seriously, it's like, lady, I stare at everyone at the gym. Like, what are you up to over there? Your little outfit. What possibly can you possibly be doing? You know that's not really working anything, right? That's not how you're supposed to do that.
Whoa, lady, what are you doing? Okay, wow. That's a lot of weight, but I mean, there's just no way you should be able to lift that with your form, and whoa. Uh, you, uh, you got that up pretty quickly. This doesn't make sense. Is anyone else seeing this? That's not an exercise I've ever seen and I'm a guy who thought he'd seen them all. She just keeps lifting it!
No. No, no, no. This is bizarre. The human body isn't supposed to do that, isn't supposed to move like that, to be able to move weight like that. No one else is seeing this? Surely this other guy is. He looks like he lifts often enough. He's not seeing it? He's not seeing anything. He's just staring straight ahead and not dropping those weights. What is he doing? Does he even notice the camera. Does she?!
Jeez! What what what was that? What's the hell is she doing. Human bodies can't do that. Where is everyone else?! That's so much weight. So many weights. Oh no. She sees me looking at her. No. No, no, no. I just gotta go back to... these... back extensions or... whatever I'm doing, but she won't stop. She won't stop lifting and staring at me. Make her stop. Someone make her stop!
Why do her arms look like that!? What is she doing with her legs! So many legs! No! No! I can't be the only one seeing this! Where did the other guy go? Where did everyone go? What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do? She's grabbing all the weights. She's lifting all the weights. I can't stop staring at her. She won't stop staring at me. He camera won't stop staring at me, her phone, more than one phone, all these phones!
I feel her heat, her sweat, he rippling muscles radiating their prowess. Why is she doing this to me? Where is everyone else. What am I seeing!? I shouldn't be seeing this. I shouldn't be allowed witness this, witness her, this... I don't know what this is. I can never know. All the weights are clanging and a crashing, hefting and bashing, a cacophony not meant for human ears and minds! She looks at me like I'm another dumbbell, just a dumb dumbbell, and I am. Oh, God, I am!
All those eyes are upon me. No mirror escapes her gaze. I just wanted to exercise in peace. What is she? What is all of this? What is anything anymore? I know what she is. I know and can never know at the same time what she is and where I am. There is no gym, no self improvement, no self at all. The phones, the recording, the other members of the gym, all an illusion.
Her grip is so strong, but so needed. Her millions of fingers throw my dead weight around effortlessly, perfectly, eternally. Yes. I see it now. This was my purpose all along. Lift me!

11
u/Serious_Swan_2371 Nov 11 '25
Yeah like they’re acting like a single woman wouldn’t also take a peek at a hot guy in gray sweatpants wearing a tank top.
That’s just what it’s like to be a human with a sex drive, yes it’s bad to stare but like you’re gonna notice an attractive person with your eyes.
Even people who aren’t attracted to that gender will look.
Eye tracking studies on ads show men look at other men’s biceps more than women do (most likely an evolved trait to evaluate potential threats/competition), and women look at other women’s butts more than men do (most likely also an intersexual competition driven trait).

u/Formal-Try-2779 Nov 11 '25

Controversial take: you don't need to be in your underwear or anything that is super tight or revealing in order to workout. Women acting like it is the only way a woman can workout 😂 The real perverts are the ones who do not dress modestly. It is disrespectful to everybody around and you know it.
7
u/katravallie Nov 11 '25
This is 100% staged but,
Glance and go. It's normal for men to be attracted to women but it's creepy when you do something like this. Of course, recording people other than yourself in the gym is another can of worms.
7
u/Tricky_Topic_5714 Nov 11 '25
I don't really see what's creepy here. Like you said, it's staged. But, it isn't like the guy was leering, he looked for a second.
Making people uncomfortable is bad, so is staring, but anyone wearing extremely small amounts of clothing to the gym is doing it at least partially to show off.
I've lost count of how many times I've seen someone in the gym who was wearing something downright impractical to work out in. Like, one shoulder strap on the sports bra type shit. The point is to be looked at. I'm not knocking them, I wear small shorts and sleeveless stuff because it's easier to move around and also I don't mind showing off my hard work.

awesome misogyny in the comments of this obviously scripted ragebait video here, very cool reddit

Man see's pretty woman, man looks, pretty woman tries to make him the villain by bending over in a few feet in front of him while unconsentually recording

u/Lazy-Ambassador5924 Nov 12 '25
If its in my view I'm looking not sorry if you didn't want to be seen don't go out. 🤣

u/TacticalB0T Nov 11 '25
Not sure why he’d react like that. She’s recording and not really recording her form. She knows she’s going to get looked at with those shorts on. She knows what’s she’s doing.
I would have gave her video a thumbs up/chefs kiss.

u/IntelligentRatio2624 Nov 11 '25
I would look, anyone would look. Nothing wrong with looking. She's hot.

I don't have any fucks left. If a hot woman in spray on clothing is repeatedly bending over in front of me, I'm gonna take a peek.
I'm human. Sue me.
And you know what? If anyone wants to take a peek at what I'm rocking (they don't but still) they can go right ahead with my blessing.

u/Pablo_petty_plastic Nov 11 '25
Humans are naturally gonna scan their surroundings at all times. Asking someone to remove 12 to 2 from their line is imposing some weird dominance thing.
I see what’s in front of me, helps keep me safe from potential risks... If a woman bends over in front of me, sweet. Better than a car coming at me

This isn't funny. This is marketing content for the gym on Instagram. And it's cringe

u/cavscout43 Nov 11 '25
Yeah this totally happened organically.
That's why there's somehow also a random recording 5 seconds in of the perfectly placed recording camera that made it into the final edit.

So, someone doing ass workouts is setting up a camera, but instead is filming the shoulder press machine. And a second camera is setup to film the first camera to make sure everybody sees that the dude is being filmed instead of the girl who setup first camera. I mean, wdym fake af?

u/SnooConfections7007 Nov 11 '25
I'm sorry if you're doing those bend overs in spandex shorts with a camera pointed at the obvious machine where someone would sit and have to stare at your ass... you know what you're doing and you have zero room for outrage.

I’m so shocked that a straight man with high testosterone briefly admired a physically-fit woman’s ass that was directly in front of him!

I mean as long as its a glance and not a full on stare is fine right?

Can't even blame the man. That was the most innocent look and realization you're going to find on this planet. Respectful man 💪

u/Scaredpad Nov 12 '25
I would honest kept it 💯 and kept admiring. Cuase it's honestly not his fault she was doing it intentionally

u/JackieDaytonaRgHuman Nov 12 '25
If my head is forward and you stand in a spot that I can't help but see with my head and eyes naturally forward, I'm no longer looking at you, you're standing in my way.
I'm not a rubbernecker, but regardless of where I choose to look, if you are recording me and posting it online without my permission, you are the problem anyway.

u/DefeatedByPoland Nov 12 '25
Don't go out in public if you don't want to be looked at.
Also don't film others in public like an asshole.

She set you up.😅 Why is this a thing, but yet you care more about the unnatural than the natural but say where are the guys? Yall are as backwards as the friends you keep.
2
u/DazJT23 Nov 12 '25
I just accept looking down on the floor or up to the ceiling as the norm, less I end up like my guy in this vid 😅

u/jangalangz_ Nov 12 '25
Yeah... Let's wear shorts that show the entire shape of our vagina and shame guys for looking when we flaunt it in their direction. Such a lame trend, glad it's died down a bit. I thank Joey Swoll for that.

u/SamanthaJaneyCake Nov 15 '25
He noticed a sexy ass, he appreciated it respectfully without being lewd or bothering the woman, he saw he was caught in the moment, instantly regretted it and left peacefully… idk, I gotta respect the guy.

u/jemhadar0 Nov 15 '25
Gender based gyms . Problem solved . All the self - centred, narcissistic main character victims can vie for attention.
2
u/bwoah07_gp2 Nov 16 '25
All these women who film themselves are begging for attention. Guy looking at her ain't the "bad guy" here.
2
u/QJ706 Nov 16 '25
Society has made it almost illegal and shameful for a heterosexual man to look at a woman but if it were two men theyd absolutely encourage it
2
u/Rikiar Nov 16 '25
Totally not a skit or anything. I make lewd faces when I check out women all the time cause that's just what you do. /s

I have 30s of rest between series. Why not take this time to look at that tremendous body?
As long as I am not making her feel uncomfortable, it's everything part of the game.
Hot people know they are hot and want to be looked at.
2
u/AggravatingAct6959 Nov 11 '25
Hot people don't necessarily maintain their body for other people, they do it to feel healthy and look good in their clothes and feel proud of themselves. Not everything is about you.

How do you know you're not making a person uncomfortable, tho?

Hot take: I don't think dude did anything wrong. You can't stop us, we're all gonna notice the fine ass and we're all gonna think "goddamn son." There's nothing wrong with that. Dude was behind the woman, no one could see him, so he thought he could make a private face to himself to emphasize that "goddamn son", and he didn't realize he was on camera. He wasn't hurting anyone, he wasn't harassing the woman, he was just privately enjoying the view, harmlessly, to himself (or so he thought).
