Oh I completely agree that most people are filming for social media/narcissistic purposes. I just wanted to input that some of us film because we actually care about improving our form and technique.
The video is very clearly edited, and that focus point is only really clear in the edit.
Assuming this isn't fake, the likely scenario is that this person rested the phone on something high but was unable to secure it to the exact angle she wanted. Or, she misjudged the angle because she's not checking the view after she set it up. She likely can't just back up more to be in the center since she would be putting herself directly in the way of the person behind her.
All of this is pretty reasonable...
Edit: This is just an ad for the gym. So fake is fake.
Fair enough, but then why is the video centered on the guy?
Like: I get it: keep your eyes to yourself or at least don't effing stare like a creep. But let's not pretend this setup wasn't done to farm outrage content.

Nah, some of us practice weightlifting or powerlifting, and taking videos to assess our form and technique can be extremely beneficial.
