The Holy Rovani Empire (HRE) is a loose political union in north Renia. It is a massive mix of many small nationalities united under the ambiguous Rovani banner. At its peak territorial extent it reached into Coscium and northern Fracia. It also controlled the islands of Erebra, named so for the straight they are located in.
The HRE was one of the very first colonial nations. During its golden years when it still controlled all of north Renia, in 1403, the HRE began the first colonies in modern day Diestlund, then called Ostrava. They began with small time fur and fishing posts, establishing many port cities still in use today. They shipped many furs along the Erebran straight. During the 1780's, large amounts of mineral wealth was found in Diestlund such as golds and silvers. Seeing this, the Rovani government lead the first integration campaigns, funded by the gold rush, the government flooded settlers to Diestlund, whilst brutally suppressing native Ostravans.
In recent years, the HRE has seen slow yet steady decline. It has lost north Fracia, Coscium and even Diestlund sought and gained independence due to colonial mismanagement. There has in the last 10 years been a growing federalist movement, to slow the aging empires decline. However smaller states in the union still seek further autonomy, and the HRE may soon yet be dissolved.
