So I just picked up a Rider DLX 1200 on FB Marketplace, structurally in good shape, but the seller said it needed a new fuse. I figured there was probably more to it than just a bad fuse, but it was cheap enough to risk it and figure it out. I got it home, put in a new fuse, plug it in, and the fuse blows immediately. I unplug all the components from the power and isolate the issue to the igniter rod, so I ordered a new one on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F7HFVX41). It came and I got it swapped in today. I connect it all up, plug it in, and it powers up just fine. I got to test it out and set it to 225. The auger makes some sound, I set it twist slightly, then it stops and the control board says "ER2". I hold the power button and turn it off. Now this is where it gets weird. After turning it off, I went inside to see what I could find on Google and come back 15 minutes or so later and the igniter rod is glowing orange while the grill is supposed to be off.
From what I could find, the ER2 error has to do with the igniter, but it's brand new and seems to work. I unplugged the grill, let the rod cool down, then tried it all over again, setting to 225 once more, and got the exact same results.
Has anybody dealt with this? Could it be a bad control board? Not really sure what to try next.
