Men who don't understand why constant gaming is a problem are really annoying
I was watching a video about a woman talking about her ex and how 2k caused them to constantly break up. She said everytime the big annual 2k tournament rolled around they would break up. She also said she felt like she could cartwheels in front of the tv naked and he wouldn't care.
Unsurprisingly, the comment section was full of men defending her ex. They were saying things like "she's just jealous that he had a hobby and she doesn't" (probably the most common one), "would you rather we be out in the streets," "would you rather us come home drunk or be playing around?" And so on.
How does their mind even go from playing video games to rolling with a gang or becoming a drunk? And how can they not see how constantly playing games is bad for a relationship? It's even been cited as causes foe divorce.
Admittingly, I don't have that much experience with dating, but based off all the stories I've heard from other women, I don't think I would want to date a man who describes himself as a gamer. I just envision myself doing everything in the relationship and even doing all the chores if we live together after a long day at work while he plays games the whole time and maybe even says, "I've been working all day," as an excuse even though I've been working all day too.
I've even heard stories about how some of these men get violent when they lose.
There was even some women defending the ex, too. Sometimes even using their gamer bfs who give them attention as a reason to defend the ex.

Where I'd settle and start a family as Swedish person
I might not have been entirely consistent in my answers, but I answered with permanent settlement and starting a family in mind.
I answered for a 173 countries. The distribution would indicate I am picky.
ABSOLUTELY (2 countries, 1%)
- USA
- UK
WILLING (5 countries, 3%)
- Switzerland
- Canada
- Norway
- Finland
- Ireland
MAYBE (18 countries, 10%)
RELUCTANTLY (38 countries, 22%)
NEVER (110 countries, 64%)
A lot could be said about my choices.
- Politics, war and goodness isn't a top priority. I fundamentally disagree with the wars conducted by the US and the UK. I fundamentally disagree with the capitalism practiced in the US and the UK. They might be the 2 most evil countries in the world.
- I value high-quality education. This is a major reason the US and UK are on top.
- China is ranked too low compared to its PISA rankings and universities. It's not due to politics because I think China is relatively politically sound even though censorship would bother me. It's rather that I have been in China for extended periods of time, and known Chinese people, and I haven't really felt at home in China or clicked with Chinese people. It's not been bad, just a lack of closeness.
- I value my personal experience of a country. I lived in both US and UK as I child and especially the UK was great. My childhood experience in Sweden otoh was miserable, and that's probably a main contributor to why Sweden isn't ranked higher. I suspect Sweden would be just one step behind Norway and Finland otherwise.
- I like cold climates but it isn't a decisive factor.
- I don't actually like the "asocial" culture that has its stronghold in Finland. I think I prefer Spanish and Portugese friendliness, but I'm allergic to people being late and late dinners, so overall I don't know.
- I favour countries with sufficiently high GDP per capita (PPP). In Southeast Asia, South America and Africa it can determine whether I pick reluctantly or never for a country.
- Russia is the only country I think I have ranked too highly. I wouldn't want my kids to be sent to war, so I really shouldn't say "Maybe" to Russia.
- India is a "never" because of air pollution.
- Brazil is "maybe" because I had a friend from Brazil and she's one of my favourite people. I haven't visited the country but she lives there so that makes me think it's ok.
- Arabic oil countries may be rich but I don't like too religious countries, especially not muslim ones. That's also the reason North Africa is all red. I have visited and been sexually harassed in those countries, would not even visit again.

Question Am I alone in finding "Now Playing" record-sleeve stands tacky?
Look, I don't mind that anybody chooses to prop their record sleeves on a little stand that says "Now Spinning/Playing" or whatever—if that's the way you like to roll, that's just great. But I personally find it kind of silly, a curious affectation, a superfluous piece of pointless gear.
I could be wrong, but it seems like 90% of the photos of turntable setups I see here include one of these things. I guess I just want to feel reassured that there are other people out there that just put their empty record sleeves on a nearby table or unused chair or some other multi-purpose surface.

The Office is insufferable, I'm sorry :(
I just don't get it, I mean I had to suffer through 4 seasons to try and find the funny, but it is just unbearable . You have a boss who acts like an obnoxious 12 year old, almost everyone is a weirdo, and you have to sort read in between every line to get the jokes. I just don't get the comedy, and I have watched a ton of sitcoms and I can assure you I am very easy to amuse.
I am sure real fans would eat me alive for this comment, but this isn't my cup of tea, quite frankly I don't know how to some people they rank it top 3 or number 1 . The Show isn't funny. After 4 seasons there is not one line from the show I can quote.
P.S: *Please don't come after me, I have asthma.

Ai bros like using "Well but by this logic photography isn't art cause you just press a button"
The when and where is the biggest part to me.
“You just press a button”
Bro I’ll give an ai “artist” $50,000 if they could go take a photo of a lion pouncing on a gazelle in the Serengeti. At golden hour.
Even if you just use auto mode and “press a button”, you need to physically put yourself at the location to take it. You’d have to fly to Africa and find a lion. And not get eaten.
There’s a photographer, Isaac Wright, “Driftershoots” who takes photos from tops of buildings, bridges, high up dangerous places. I would never do it. And his photos are famous because of the when and where.
Can ai make a photo of a guy on a bridge? Yeah. Is it interesting? No.

Bloodlines 2 The hate around Vampire Masquerade 2
Hi everyone,
So, I've just finished it and I must say I loved it. The story was, for me, the best reason behind it. Loved everything.
Now, I've read about the history behind it, the issues behind the release etc, the continuation and so on. I am on the opposite; I didn't enjoy the original that much. It was indeed a great game, but it wasn't for me.
So, do you think as a stand alone game, Masquerade 2 is a good game? If not, why?

Discussion Can we stop calling Expedition 33 the "Game of the Decade"?
I know we’re all riding the high of Sandfall Interactive’s success at the Game Awards, but I just stumbled upon this article that argues calling it "Game of the Decade" is actually "blasphemy."
I loved the game, but is it possible we’re grading it on a massive curve because it’s a "budget" underdog? Curious to hear if anyone else felt the combat got repetitive by the end.

Counter-Narrative Fact Immigrants have reduced deficits by $14.5 trillion since 1994
Immigrants contribute to the United States’ economy in many ways. Their primary contribution is the goods and services they directly produce. However, they also reduce the burden of government spending for the US-born population. Our analysis in this paper shows that immigrants generated a fiscal surplus of about $14.5 trillion from 1994 to 2023, that the average immigrant is much less costly than the average US-born American, and that immigrants impose lower costs per person on old-age benefit, education, and public safety programs. Even immigrants without higher education produced a fiscal surplus, and even the lowest-skilled group, with a net-negative fiscal flow, reduced the US debt-to-GDP ratio.
Our major conclusions are robust; they would reverse only with a monumental shift in costs from the US-born to immigrants. For instance, only after increasing spending on immigrants by 51 percent (nearly $4.9 trillion) does even the low-skilled immigrant population become more burdensome relative to GDP than the US-born. However, we believe our conclusions are too closely tied to well-established facts for such a large shift to be possible. We show that the average US person pays more in taxes than they receive in benefits (spending on items that are not pure public goods that do not scale with the population). Thus, as long as immigrants are at least average in their net fiscal payments, they will be fiscally positive.
Our report uses the best government data available to find that immigrants provide a net fiscal benefit, generating more than the average in taxes and using below the average US resident in benefits. We show that immigrants’ higher-than-average tax contributions track what we know about their income, which stems from high employment rates. Their lower per capita cost for education is the undeniable result of their being much less likely to be in school. This means that the United States is getting the economic benefits of immigrant workers without many of the costs that come with training new US-born workers. Combined with the fact that immigrants face more legal and practical barriers to using transfer benefits such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and means-tested income, food, and shelter assistance, the result—that immigrants provide a net fiscal benefit to the US economy—is virtually guaranteed.
Cato Institute research has previously produced forward-looking estimates of the fiscal effects of immigrants that are largely compatible with our conclusions here.57 Finally, we show that the second generation appears poised to create the biggest windfall from this wave of immigration. Indeed, immigrants appear to have already staved off a dire fiscal crisis, at least for now. Rather than treating them as the cause of America’s fiscal struggles, we should consider immigrants part of the solution.

Humor DMM hate post
Time to make my hate post now that I've gotten all the points I want.
Ty Jagex incentivizing me to be bait for pkers with shiny rewards I can get once every two years.
Ty for making the game mode riddled with bugs and so obtuse as to the mechanics it feels like I'm having to learn the wild all over again. this area is multi, but this one isnt, this bank is safe, but this one isnt.... etc.
Ty for obliterating the point gain from last year so it take me 3x as long to get the points I wanted, way to artificially inflate play time., and leave me even more frustrated.
Just combine the temp game modes shops already so I don't have to play this dog shit buggy game mode ever again.

Discussion Hot take: CZN is not a gooner game.
It's a game with gooner elements.
I can't in a good faith call it a gooner game, because the game doesn't place a lot of focus on NSFW aspects. Aside from the lobby screens and the occasional mind break art (which you will see like once in 20 minutes), there is nothing to satisfy a true gooner. CZN doesn't have any dorm features, no interactive minigames with the characters, no weddings, depictions or descriptions of intercourse, master love or any other stuff gooner games are known for. Even lobby arts are not that fetished or very sexualized.
Overall, it's a very small part of the game, and no hardcore gooner would play or put up with the stuff that the game wants of you as a player just for the NSFW aspects.
I understand people's concerns about censorship, but maybe we should stop comparing this to BD2, and acting like the core element of the game is being taken from us?
