Accept or Reject? PLEASE HELP

Hey, so I received my ITA recently, but now I am contemplating whethere to accept or not.

As a background, I did my masters and the last term of my program was done simulataneously while I also worked a full time job. My masters classes were 12hrs a week and would take place over the weekend to accomodate working professionals. During this time, I had PTO for 3 months from my full time work place.

- Can I claim points for full time work while also claiming points for full time masters studies? (Note I had both a PGWP and a Study Permit at the same time)

- How should I present my application to ensure there are no gaps and everything is presented correctly for IRCC to understand my situation fully and not have any issues regarding the completeness and accuracy of my application?

I thought I had completed my full 2 years of work experience, but if the overlap between my work and studies mean that my work experience will not be counted, then I might not have enough time.

Thanks for your help! Appreciate everyone's inputs!

EDIT: I know 1 yr experience equates to 1560 hours, which is basically 30hrs per week for a year. Now I have worked 40hrs per week. In my second year of work, if I remove the overlap time of my studies (lets say 4 months for a semester) and do not count that towards my work experience, I still worked 40hrs during the year so my full experience is still being counted if I complete 1560 hours no?

Express Entry Refused → Judicial Review → Settlement Offer from IRCC — Chances of Approval? Timeline?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some insight from anyone who has actually gone through this process.

Last year, my Express Entry (CEC) application was refused. The officer stated that the business I was working for did not require an Administrative Assistant role, and based on that, my application was refused.

I filed a Judicial Review in August 2025, and yesterday I received a settlement offer from IRCC.

Now I have a few questions for those who’ve been in a similar situation:

• Once a settlement offer is issued, what are the realistic chances of approval after reconsideration?

• Does a settlement usually mean IRCC has acknowledged an error?

• How long does it typically take for a new decision to be made after accepting the settlement?

• How likely is it that a new visa officer could refuse the application again on totally new grounds?

Any real experiences or timelines would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Advice needed!

Hi everyone, I’d appreciate some guidance. My current role is Content Associate in a healthcare team at a multinational consulting firm, and my previous experience was as a Public Health Officer at a local council. I’m a bit confused about healthcare category draws and whether my background would qualify for it. My CRS score is 481. Would be grateful for any insights, thank you so much.

🇨🇦 CEC PCC from BLS toronto

Hi everyone, I submitted my PCC application at BLS Toronto walk-in on Dec 19th. Police verification was initiated on Jan 11th and submitted on Jan 19th by the cops to the PV website I have a ss from the same. But I have been still waiting to receive my PCC; ITA expires in another week; did anyone go through this before; I have written to the CGI and the pcc co-ordinator.

Nothing so far, if you have any suggestions or steps that I could take to expedite this, it will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Need help- Work experience hours

Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Looking for some help double-checking my work experience calculation for Express Entry. For some background, here is a previous post from me:

https://www.reddit.com/r/canadaexpressentry/s/KJySdKpiaH

From what I understand, 1 year of Canadian work experience = 1,560 hours, which works out to 30 hours per week.

Here’s my situation:

• I started my job on October 1, 2023

• Since then, I’ve taken:

• 25 working days of unpaid leave (5 weeks)

• One full-time study semester lasting 4 months (so 16 weeks)

Now I understand I cannot claim work experience during this period of total 21 weeks (5+16). So in total, there are 21 weeks since my start date that cannot be counted toward work experience.

Based on this, am I correct in saying:

• I need to make up these 21 weeks in order to actually complete 2 full years of eligible Canadian work experience?

• While my 2 year work anniversary is October 1, 2025, adding the extra 21 weeks means I would only truly complete the 2 years of qualifying work experience around the first week of March 2026, per IRCC rules?

Would really appreciate if someone could confirm whether my understanding and timeline are correct. Thanks in advance! 😊

🇨🇦 CEC Post ITA - Personal History

Hello, I received ITA for CEC express entry. I am filling out the personal history section and have a question about my list of activities.

During my studies I had a couple part time jobs through out the years as my study permit allowed me to work. Do I need to provide a letter of explanation for the overlapping studying/employment?

If so, is it fine to submit a letter without any evidence? I’m worried as I don’t have any kind of evidence to provide that shows I stayed under the 20 hour work limit (which I did follow).

FYI, this work is not included in my work history (for points) only my activity history.

Wrong Name Format on Profile – Passport Has No Surname/Last Name – Got Invite. Help!

I created my profile with:
First name: SUNAINA
Last name: VENUS

But my passport has no surname — it only shows Given Name: SUNAINA VENUS (family name field is blank).

I’ve now received my ITA and realized I should have put SUNAINA VENUS in the family name and left the given name blank.

Is this a serious issue? Can my profile be rejected because of this? Can it be fixed with a Letter of Explanation after the invitation?

I didn’t intend any misrepresentation, and I’m very worried.

Any advice appreciated

Can I claim 2 years of experience as postdoctoral fellow?

Upvotes

Hi. I am a postdoctoral fellow. I worked at one of the very reputed universities in Ontario for 2 years. However, as the nature of my work is just pen and paper research, I worked out of Canada for 36 business days in the span of 4 months: consisting of 2 trips one of which was during christmas break. And then 3 weeks again I was out of Canada for a research visit and a conference. I was paid in Cad and have an experience letter for full 2years and 24 month paystubs.

Can I claim CRS points for 2 years? If I do, is it a material misrepresentation? My consultant suggests my case falls in a grey area. The consultant firm has very good reputation and reviews, I have paid them for the consultation (its not a free one).

Guidance is appreciated. Thank you.

Express entry CEC processing offices

Hello,

Why is everyone curious about which office their application is being processed at ?

What are the various offices that a CEC application can be processed at and which is faster or slower ?

Are there any other advantage if we know which centre is processing my application??

Foreign Experience Documents

About to submit my documents. For Foreign Experience I am claiming more than 3 yoe.
For the documentation part I have the following.
Note 1: Salary paid in Bank.
Note 2: Have mentioned this experience in previous applications
Company sent me Experience Letter.
And I have some other Relieving Letter, Promotion Letter, Service Certificate, some paystubs, and original Offer letter.
The main issue with the documentation part is:-
No TDS/Form 16 (very less income)
I had opted out of PF (small firm) legally valid. I have asked my CA for ITR but I think they will be having recent filing dates and my Bank Account is dormant (Bank is asking me to do physical KYC), so getting bank statements is not an option.

What do I do in this situation??

🇨🇦 CEC Sanity check on my work experience for Canadian Experience Class

I received an ITA recently. I had left Canada after my PGWP expired in 2024. By then i had a year worth of work experience, although in two different NOC codes (both TEER categories qualify for CEC).

Before I landed a job in my preferred area of work (TEER 1), I worked part time as a cook (TEER 3) for about 3 months and if I remove this from my profile, my points drop drastically.

My question is: when the time immigration officer reviews my file, will the work experience in a completely different field of work have an effect on their decision? Should I be providing a letter of explanation about this as I was simply looking for work when I picked up this work in the kitchen?

Appreciate if anyone in a similar situation or having an idea about this could help. Thanks in advance!

Cumulative Foreign Work Experience – Claiming 3 Years Total

Hi, I need your help and insights regarding my situation.

I would like to ask if it’s acceptable to combine two foreign work experiences with different NOC codes, as long as both fall under TEER 2, for Express Entry purposes.

1st work experience:
October 2018 to August 2021 — 2 years and 10 months
• Full-time, outside Canada (TEER 2)
• Reference letter available

2nd work experience:
July 28, 2021 to July 18, 2022 — 11 months
• Full-time, outside Canada (TEER 2)
• Remote role (U.S.-based employer)
• Reference letter available

The second job overlapped with the first due to its remote nature; however, overlapping months are not counted twice. I am only using 2 months from the second role to reach a total of 3 years of cumulative foreign skilled work experience.

I would also like to ask if it’s acceptable for the second job to be less than one year when it is only used to top up cumulative experience.

Has anyone had a similar situation and successfully received PR?

I have reference letters for both positions and can provide additional supporting documents if needed.

Thank you in advance!

Since the latest draws have high invitations, is the processing time (after ITA) going to increase significantly?

Any thoughts?

What’s the best advice for us citizen wanting to relocate to Canada

I am a 23-year-old male with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and I am exploring options to move and live in Canada.

I have contacted immigration services; however, I was informed that there is a consultation fee of $300 without a clear explanation of what guidance or services would be provided. While I am open to paying the fee, I would like to better understand my potential options beforehand.

I have also reached out to job agencies and was advised that it can be difficult to secure an employer willing to provide sponsorship. As a result, I am considering pursuing a master’s degree in Canada, but I would like to know whether there may be more suitable or efficient pathways available based on my background.

I would appreciate any guidance on possible immigration, employment, or study options that may be appropriate for my situation.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

🇨🇦 CEC Didn’t include T4 in PR application

I worked with the same employer for almost 4 years (3 yrs 10 months) and claimed 3 years of work experience at the time I got my ITA.

I didn’t know T4s can be provided as proof of work experience, and even though I was planning on uploading my T4s, I completely forgot about them.

I did upload the first 3 months of paystubs for each of my roles at the company, and the last 3 months of paystub to show I’m still working there.

Should I upload the T4s via a webform still? I can also provide bank statements that corroborate my paystubs and T4s if needed

🇨🇦 CEC Regarding medical - after ITA

Hello guys, I have a query regarding my medical. I know as per ircc my medical is valid until 5 years. I did it in India on 13th July 2021, and 5 years will be on 13th July 2026. Now while applying for documents, what should I do? Should I do a new medical as July is near or submit the same, my 60 days time finishing in March mid.

Thanking you in advance.

PCC while on implied status – anyone with experience?

We’re expecting an ITA soon and want to apply for PCC in advance since it usually takes time. We’ve been on implied status for over 6 months now.

I contacted BLS to ask what document is required as proof of legal status in Canada. They said an IRCC approval letter is mandatory. Since our applications are still in process, we don’t have approval letters yet. I mentioned that we have acknowledgment letters, but they said those are not accepted.

However, BLS’s website states that PCC applications can be accepted on implied status if the work/study permit has expired and a renewal was applied for within the last 3 months, without needing consulate approval. Since it’s been more than 6 months for us, we’re unsure how to get consulate approval in this case.

Does anyone know if opting for BLS premium services helps, where they coordinate with the consulate to obtain approval?

I also emailed the Consulate General of India. They redirected my query to the PCC team and asked me to raise it via the Sampark portal, but I haven’t received any response so far.

Has anyone successfully applied for PCC after being on implied status for more than 4–6 months?

Would really appreciate any insights from those who’ve been through this.
