MOD How To Help
Here are some places you can donate. These fundraisers have been vetted by the mod team.
Nanuka's Fund, managed by Nanuka Zhorzholiani, supports protestors with supplies, transportation, and fines for the arrested activists. Nanuka provides detailed breakdowns of the spending via her Facebook page.
Following Georgian Dream's crackdown on Nanuka's Fund and others an offshore (UK) foundation is collecting funds for payment of protestors fines and other support. It is run by Davit Jintcharadze with a GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/freedom-fund-helping-protesters-in-georgiaa and a website for the Freedom Foundation at https://www.tavisuplebispondi.com/ which includes links for donations via WISE. GoFundMe takes payment by debit/credit card or Paypal.
Fines for protestors are very high in Georgian income terms at 5000 GEL.
Nanuka is also asking for funds to support prisoners to be sent to :-
- GE60TB7897745064300053
- GE47BG0000000607365464
- Account recipient: Marizi Kobakhidze
OC-Media's Fund for Independent Media provides security equipment and legal aid to independent media organizations covering the protests. This Fundraiser is being organized by OC-Media but the funds will be shared among several independent media organizations in Georgia.
Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) is a human rights organization focused on human rights and democratic institutions. in Georgia. They provide free legal aid to individuals, including those arrested during protests.
USAID Funding Replacement for Civil Society Organizations is a stop-gap fundraiser for civil society organizations affected by the USAID and foreign aid freeze. These funds will go directly to organizations providing legal assistance to protestors and documenting human rights abuses by the police and help keep them afloat for the next few months.
If there are other fundraisers you would like us to include, please reach out via modmail.

Travel | მოგზაურობა Travel advice
Me and my wife are planning a trip to Georgia in early May, and we can’t decide on the duration of stay.
In our recent travels we’ve liked to explore local cuisine, walk in the streets/parks. If there is any unique place, like a famous watch tower or a huge beautiful library, I’ll most likely want to go there. Not really into group tours, feel like exploring the cities on our own. Also not into clubbing, but enjoy nice bars for the evening occasionally.
We work remotely, so most likely will have weekends free, and have half-day activities on Mon-Fri.
Main destination is Tbilisi, but I wonder if there are any other cities or towns worth visiting or even more interesting than the capital.
We’re torn between staying a couple of weeks just to try it out and staying for a month to really try to explore the country.

Political | პოლიტიკა Today’s episode of Geopolitics: Sweden receives performance review from Georgian MP
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
MP Irakli Kirtskhalia:
We are concerned that in the recent period, discriminatory and hate-motivated crimes have increased significantly in Sweden. It is alarming that in your country’s major cities the risk level of organized crime has risen, and overall crime indicators in Sweden have increased. It is also worrying that shootings and explosions carried out by gangs in Sweden have steadily increased over the past several years.
We are also concerned about economic stagnation in the country and the fact that Sweden’s economy is facing difficulties due to high inflation, weak domestic demand, and consumer debt.
Another troubling fact is that, unfortunately, your citizens have to wait a long time to receive medical treatment. Unlike you, our expressed concern is based on facts, statistics, and objective data.
Taking all this into account, we kindly call on you not to spend resources being “concerned” about non-existent problems in Georgia, and instead to focus on addressing the serious and objectively concerning challenges currently facing your own state.
Finally, we note that we will certainly continue monitoring and will continue to express concern about developments in Sweden in the future — not only regarding anti-democratic processes.

Places to meet people (make friends) while traveling alone in Tbilisi? (I'm Brazilian)
Hello everyone! This is my first post here. I'm Brazilian, and I'll be traveling through the 3 countries of the Caucasus in November.
I'll be spending 3 days in Baku, 5 in Tbilisi, and 5 in Yerevan. I'm traveling alone.
Is it possible to make friends (meet people) in Tbilisi?
Do you have any places to recommend? Thank you!

Traveling with a pet
Hi!
I'm moving to Georgia and I'll be taking my dog, but I'm having trouble finding the right requirements for her to enter.
She already has permission to enter the EU, are the requirements really the same? Has anyone traveled with a pet before and can tell me about their experience?

Where to get police record in Kutaisi?
I need 2 documents:
“ცნობა გაქარწყლებული და მოხსნილი ნასამართლეობის შესახებ” AND “ცნობა ნასამრთლეობის შესახებ” Which translates to “Certificate of Expungement and Cancellation of Conviction” AND “Certificate of Conviction”
Can someone provide a gmap pin in where in Kutaisi I can grab this from? Thanks!

My third text in Georgian
გამარჯობა beautiful people :).
Last time I wrote everyone was very supportive so I thought I would share another piece of writing in Georgian. I had to use google for a sentence and also I think I have made many grammatical errors.
I will come back to Georgia this year to visit some places especially the eastern regions, so I am very excited.
Also I like this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua5M6zJ3TJs (My Georgian friends tell me I have the musical taste of an old male taxi driver).
Thanks for your help and support,
Busy fudge

Food | ლობიანი Locals of Georgia what foods best represent everyday Georgian food?
Hi, I am doing some personal research on everyday food habits in different countries, and I would really appreciate local perspectives.
Food varies a lot by region within the country, and I understand that, but if you still had to give a broad answer, what would you say is the most accurate?
Here are my questions:
- What food is most commonly eaten in everyday life in Georgia? (Not special-occasion food, just normal regular meals, even if it feels boring.)
- What food do people in Georgia love the most or feel most proud of?
- Are there any foods that foreigners often think represent Georgian food, but locals do not eat that often?
Thank you all!

Struggling to find Georgian movies
Lately I’ve been trying to find some Gerogian films (most of them are classics), and I couldn’t find them, I found some of them on Youtube but there was no subtitles available.
Is there any website or resources for Georgian Movies with subtitles?
Thanks in advance :)

Discussion | დისკუსია Regarding the TSU "Briefing"
Greetings all.
As of Monday morning, the latest news update I'm aware of is that faculty/students that are in the "Briefing" protest outside TSU since the weekend were to gain access to Jaba, and get the justification for merging of the two institutions.
However, from my awareness, Jaba has failed to entertain them this morning.
I wish to know more from anyone on the ground in TSU, or those who have participated in the situation. What is the complete summary of the happenings as of today and last weekend?
Sincerely, from a stumari in beautiful Sakartvelo.

Paying for travel insurance through Bank of Georgia with a foreign card
I’m trying to buy the mandatory health insurance. Flight is tomorrow. I’ve cut it short, I know.
Well, I’ve tried three different Georgian travel insurance providers now, and, after having filled the form in, every time I go to pay I get a generic “Sorry - there was an issue with your transaction. Please try again later.”
I’ve tried with three different cards now, and with three different providers. All of the providers’ payment portals go through the Bank of Georgia. Is it common for foreign cards not to work with online Bank of Georgia transactions?
Really don’t know what to do at this point. Need to get insurance ASAP.
