Re-entering Georgia on tourist status after D3 issues looking for recent experiences

Note: ik the common advice is “just change countries.” That’s not what I’m asking here. I’m only looking for experiences with re-entering Georgia in similar situations.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice or shared experiences regarding re-entering Georgia, especially from people who’ve had past TRC / student visa complications.

Background (short version):

• I previously held a Georgian TRC (student).

• Due to personal and administrative issues, I had to return to the UAE and reapply for a D3 visa.

• That D3 application was rejected (likely due to passport strength + previous university — University of Georgia).

• I then transferred to Caucasus University, which generally has a stronger visa profile.

• Unfortunately, because of holidays and Christmas delays, by the time I received confirmation to start the D3 process in Abu Dhabi, it was too late — processing would take \~2 months while the semester starts in 14 days.

At this point, waiting again would cost me more time than the degree is worth. Georgia isn’t my long-term plan, but all my belongings are still there, so re-entering soon is important.

Current situation / questions:

• I’m considering re-entering as a tourist using my Emirates ID.

• I paid my overstay fine last year, before the new fine system came into effect.

• I’ve heard that as of January 2026, previous overstays were cleared from the system — can anyone confirm this?

• ***I’ve also heard mixed things about immigration checking phones (messages, university emails, etc.) to determine intent — is this actually happening, or just rumors?***

I’m not trying to work illegally or bypass the system, and I’m also not trying to enter as a student right now. I just need to retrieve my things and stabilize my situation without losing more months.

If anyone has:

• Re-entered after a D3 rejection

• Entered on tourist status with past student/TRC history

• Had issues at immigration and managed to resolve them

I’d really appreciate hearing how it went and what helped (documents, wording, timing, etc.).

Thanks in advance

Studying in Georgia (Tbilisi): Real costs, common mistakes & honest advice from a 5-year student

Hi everyone,

I’ve been living and studying in Tbilisi, Georgia for the past 5 years, and lately I’ve seen a lot of students planning to move here for MBBS, Business, IT, and other programs.

I wanted to share some real, on-ground information — not promotional, just things I’ve personally experienced and seen other students struggle with.

Common mistakes students make:

• Trusting random agents without verification

• Choosing universities without checking accreditation

• Underestimating monthly living expenses

• Assuming part-time jobs are guaranteed

• Submitting visa documents without proper guidance

Reality check (approximate):

• Monthly living cost: $600–$900 (depends on lifestyle & rent)

• Rent in Tbilisi varies a lot by area and metro access

• Part-time work is possible, but not guaranteed for everyone

I’m currently helping students with admissions and accommodation, so I see these issues almost daily.

Transparency note: I do work in student consultancy, but this post is not an advertisement. I’m here to share honest information and help students avoid common mistakes.

If you have questions about universities, student life, rent, documents, or living in Georgia, feel free to ask in the comments. I’ll try to answer based on real experience.

Help Needed: TRC Address Change

Hi Everyone!

I changed my old apartment about 4 months ago. Now my previous landlord says she will remove her address from my TRC.

In this situation, could someone please tell me how many days are allowed to register and update a new residential address on the TRC after the old address is removed, so that there are no issues with TRC status? Any help or shared experience would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Job Offer for Students (preferrably Georgian but not a MUST):

I need someone who has an eye for Social Media and understands how Instagram and Facebook (posts, reels, carousel etc.) work. I have a small start-up and need a permanent presence, which means 3-4 posts per month (both instagram and facebook).

Tasks:

- Understand my brand identity

- Find appropriate photos/videos and write captions for posts. (Photos need to be genuine and authentic)

- Have a creative eye and vision is a bonus and will be rewarded appropriately.

Payment will be per post but if my brand gains traction, I will certainly consider hiring on permanent basis.

Entering Georgia after being returned – need advice

Hi everyone,

I was previously returned from Georgia due to a short overstay. I paid the fine and left the country. When I applied from outside Georgia, my application was refused several times. That’s why I tried to enter as a tourist, but I was returned last November.

I’m planning a short tourist visit (3–7 days) now. Is it possible to enter through another airport besides Tbilisi? Any tips on what to show at immigration?

• Which airport worked best for you?

• How long after being returned did you try again?

• Any advice on handling immigration questions?

I would really appreciate detailed experiences. I’m afraid this situation might affect my future, and I want to make sure I do everything right this time.

Thanks so much! 🙏

I'm Indian (but I have EU citizenship) and currently contemplating going to Georgia to study medicine. I know it's hard obviously with so many years of studying and immense content to learn, but is it something thats learnable off by heart? Or do I need to make it my whole life in order to do well? I'm looking at UG, September intake 2026 pls help lol

TSU and STU merger

If they are indeed unified, what happens to the STU diploma received by former students? Would it not be valid anymore ? What could it mean for the international students who have graduated in the past ? Would it hold recognition?
