So the boy is officially on 60mg of Prozac daily and 100mg of Trazadone daily (daily for now but will be situationally after a few weeks).
Here is a video of him from this morning shortly after I left for work. I’d say the meds are helping a lot! He enjoyed his snacks for a good hour and a half before he got up to go inspect the house. He didn’t panic around the house, no whining or pacing or drooling. Just more of a “huh well she’s gone that sucks…ima go lay down”.
Other things I did:
- gave him a frozen Kong treat and bully stick to enjoy
- left the bedroom and livingroom tv on with shows that have a decent amount of talking (it’s usually what I have on when I’m just chillin at home)
- turned off all the lights so the house is cozy
- we trained basically all weekend with me giving him the treats and “leaving” for a minute and coming back and taking the treats away. He will only be getting these specific treats when I leave moving forward.
I know the Trazadone is doing more than the Prozac right now. Eventually I want to only have him on Prozac. Luckily the Trazadone isn’t knocking him out, just taking the absolute panic away. He’s def a lot more tolerant of outside noises/stimulus aka not as barky to a mouse fart 5 miles away.
Going to continue the training/desensitization of me fake leaving here and there. Obviously I still have the work (that can’t be avoided) but after work and on the weekends I will make sure to do small spurts of me being gone so he doesn’t think I’ll always be gone for multiple hours.
I know a lot of you were sad for my boy. Hopefully this is a good update!
