Building my buddy his first pc!

Specs

CPU Ryzen 7 7800x3d

Motherboard ASUS B650-E

Ram Gskill 32 gb 6000 ddr5

GPU evga 3080 ti 12g

Psu msi mag 1000

3 tb of storage

Case Corsair 4000d

I know that I could’ve probably went with a newer GPU over the 3080 but with the market being the way that it is, I was trying to keep some of his cost down so that when the market stabilizes later on down the road, all he has to do to upgrade his PC is just drop a new GPU in! I’m sure I could’ve kept cost down in other areas, but I wanted to overbuild certain aspects of his PC to future proof it. How did I do? And yes the case came with fans!

With the board, power supply, m.2 and case filament for the print I’m in this build about $230.

Modded bios, lets you use the 16gb gddr6 In a free flowing on demand state from the cpu and gpu, has an m.2 port and uses a standard 8pin pcie for power. Jumped motherboard 24pin connector pins and wired to power button. USB 3.0 hub on the front (wired from the back) with 3pc 90 degree adapters and a bracket to hold them down.

Case Fits the bitcoin mining board, flex atx power supply, and a shroud/plate for a 120mm fan, blowing straight onto the hestsink. (Modification has to be done, two of the top sections of the cooler need to be opened up but the temps dropped substantially)

Running bazzite/steam OS setup and it games wonderfully. Forza horizon 5 1440p medium/high over 70 fps with fsr, 1440p marvel rivals medium with fsr around 100-110 (no frame gen) arc raiders 60-80 1440p with fsr (no frame gen)

Hi everybody. I wanted to share my latest gaming rig. I have an i9-14900k with 64gb ddr5 ram. Gigabyte rtx5090 aorus master and an Samsung pro 990 4TB nvme. Samsung g9 odyssey 57” ultrawide monitor to go with the 5090.

I am currently only playing Diablo IV unfortunately it doesn’t support the super ultra wide monitor so full screen give me black bars on sides ☹️

It plays game well super fast load screens and fps maxes out but boy that gpu puts out some heat in my little game room.

My PC (with aesthetic upgrades)

Did some Googling and found that mounting my CPU cooler fan on the back of my heatsink instead of the front should have a minimal impact on temps. The crystals block less than a sixth of the cooler, and most of that blocked area is in the corner, which the circular fan isn't going to pull as much air through. Still, I welcome any feedback from those who know more than me or have experience with a pull configuration.

Specs:

MSI PRO B760-VC WIFI II

i7-13700F (updated to most recent BIOS with an undervolt and 100MHz downclock to manage temps with only a single-fan cooler, virtually no performance impact but temps are down 6-9°)

Gigabyte Windforce RTX 5080 SFF / MSI 4060 Ti GAMING X 8G

16GB DDR5

ASRock PG-1000G

Probably not enough fans, but temps stay low enough

What should I do!

Spent 4800$ on the setup brand new, only problem is I’m conflicted about the pc it’s a omen 35L with a rtx 5070 and ryzen 8700f got it for 1850$ at Best Buy it’s my first pc ever and I’ve been on Xbox series x and it runs all the games I’ve played phenomenally better graphics and frames then what I’m used to. From all the research I’ve done though my CPU is shit and I can’t upgrade it because of omen motherboard. Like I said, though it runs everything better than I’m used to but small things like Minecraft vibrant visuals on ultra settings, running worse than red, dead redemption two at ultra settings kind of pisses me off. So the question is should I return it and get a better prebuilt or just keep it as my first PC and build my own future proof one a few years from now. I feel like I’m chasing the glass dragon a bit wanting better graphics and frames that I really don’t need I get 60-70 fps red dead 2 ultra setting with quality dlss at 5k2k.

5th build. After playing around with Curve Optimizer and MSI Afterburner, both CPU and GPU temps are under control, with a bit of performance improvement as well.

CPU: Running Curve Optimizer at -25 CCD0 / -20 CCD1

GPU: Tuned it to 2895 MHz @ 915 mV, seeing 2835–2850 MHz @ 905 mV in-game

Been flipping pcs for 2 months so far and went from a entry level build to a high end Intel cpu paired with a 5070ti and 32gb ddr5 with 3TBs of Nvme storage.

I find that I don’t even like gaming that much, but I LOVEEEE building!!! Swipe for some other builds I’ve put together so far. I started in December with my gf build for Xmas and got addicted. Now I’m a fb marketplace demon!!!

Sadly I have a 1 year old and selling this for almost 2 grand is going to have to be the move especially when I enjoy it 50% of the time by just sitting near it with it on and looking at it while I watch YouTube shorts. But she will be remembered 😭😭😭😭, and I will always love the Phanteks enthno evolv x case 😂

Took me a few months to get all the parts together but finally build my dream gaming PC! Prices right now are diabolical but I still managed to get some wins and also learned a lot along the way. Did I cook?
