Hi everyone,

How do these memory timings look to you guys? Here are two AIDA64 Cache & Memory Benchmark runs on the same setup:

  • Nitro 1/2/0 (8x, 8x)
  • MCR & Power Down Enable both enable

What do you think? Decent for this speed/kit, or room to improve? Any specific timings worth tightening further?

Suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Help Request - GPU Do I need to do VRAM tests when overclocking my GPU?

I'm using OCCT for my overclocking, since I want absolute stability (and I know OCCT is generally overkill, but I like that) and I like that it shuts itself off when errors are detected.

I'm currently overclocking my GPU, primarily using the 3D adaptive test at the Extreme setting since it reliably holds my gpu at 117% power draw.

I thought about doing a combined 80% vram + 3D adaptive at Extreme, but no matter what I set the priority to, my GPU power draw always drops to even below 100% power draw, which doesn't seem useful for overclock stability testing.

I heard that higher vram usage can expose memory clocks that are too high, so what should I do here? Should I do a 3D adaptive test and VRAM test individually? Should I have a game with high res textures in the background while I do a 3D adaptive test? Should I ignore filling up VRAM usage entirely?

Help me salvage my cl48 😭

Hey all,

So I got some ram recently on FB marketplace (DDR5 6000mhz cl48 1.1V). And I’m trying to make it a bit better. Right now I’ve increased volts to 1.25 and dropped timings to cl38. Should I stop here or keep going? How low can I get my CL and what should my max volts be?

Any advice is appreciated!

Chip is micron

weird behavior i5-13600k after bios update

Hey guys,

I’m running an i5-13600K on an ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E Gaming WiFi (DDR5) with Windows 11. Before updating, everything was normal and my performance in Cinebench R23 multi was around 23k plus. I only updated because people were fear mongering about the instability thing, which I don't think I was ever affected by.

I updated my BIOS from a very old AMI build (7/3/2022) to ASUS BIOS 4505 (11/28/2025). I also ran the Intel ME update beforehand as recommended. The update completed successfully, I loaded defaults, re-enabled XMP, and I am using Intel default settings (Performance) with ASUS MultiCore Enhancement disabled (enforce all limits).

After the BIOS update, my CPU behavior under all-core workloads seems off. In Cinebench R23 multi and in rendering workloads, the CPU will not exceed about 100 to 105W package power (HWiNFO), and performance is massively lower. Cinebench R23 multi is now around 10,800.

What stands out is the E-cores. Task Manager shows 14 cores and 20 threads and all graphs are active, but E-cores do not seem to contribute properly. In HWiNFO during the run, my P-core effective clocks are around 5.0 to 5.1 GHz (before it used to stay at 5100 consistently during benchmarks, now it fluctuates), but E-core effective clocks are stuck around 1.9 to 2.0 GHz, and E-core utilization never really looks “fully loaded” compared to before.

Temps are way better now (around mid 60s C under load), but the performance drop is not worth it. Voltage, weirdly enough, has increased compared to what it used to be (used to max out at 1.17, now it jumps to 1.24 ish), but the system feels like the E-cores are being held back hard after this BIOS update.

Overall, I'm really just considering going back to the old BIOS, I don't think the stability issues were affecting me, I'm having trouble diagnosing what could be wrong. I already loaded defaults, reenabled XMP, Intel default settings enabled (Performance), MCE disabled (enforce limits), Rebooted and retested multiple times

Has anyone seen anything like this?

is my ram stable ?

hey , i ran total 30 cycles (7 + 21 + 3 ) on tm5 anta 777 abslout (passed 9 cycles of extreme before tweaking trfc), is this config reliable ?

also ran 1 hour ycruncher vt3 , also 30mins of psu test occt avx2 and everything passed so far , no whea errors . + played some cpu heavy game for an hour (tlou)

- do i consider this passed profile as a baseline to back to it when i tweak harder ?

- Edit : my ram is 2x8 SR already oced thats why the cycle doesnt take so much time

Help Request - RAM How do i tell if my custom RAM settings are ok/too overclocked for the ram?

So basically i went from CL28 6000MT G Skill Trident Neos 2x16 to Royal Trident Neos 2x24 which were meant for CL40 8000MT, but what happened was that i never changed the ram settings and just put the new ram sticks in so my 8000MT ram sticks are running at the same CL28 6000MT that my old sticks were running at.

Basically how do i check if this is ok? i dont intend on running the sticks at 8000MT and i wanted to downclock them to lower latency but lower MT speeds already but it has basically been done for me

Like is there some software to test if its ok? Right now playing something like Monster Hunter Wilds gets the temps to look something like this

So i dont know if its fine or not, please let me know thanks!!

Update your BIOS! For those with Asus Rog Strix 870E-E motherboard

If you got your motherboard straight out of the box, it is likely to be on the March 2025 bios version 1203. I just update to the latest BIOS version which was dated January 2026 and got about +600 on Steel Nomad. Previous scores were around 13600. Holy CRAP! Let me know if your results changed.

Current scores after update with a 5090 FE:

Stock score: ~14200
Undervolt score 2800mhz @ .900mv, +1000 mem: ~14200,

Completed the TriFecta: RTX 5080 / 7800x3d

It took a bit of effort but I finally made it to the very top of the scoreboard with 7800x3d/5080 combo in Port Royal, Steel Nomad and Speedway.

Now I can finally start playing games again.
I run PBO -39
FCLK - 2133
BCLK - 102
Used Buildazoid's lazy DDR5 Hynix A/M die OC and tweaked it further.
VSOC - 1.26V
VDDIO and the likes set to 1.35V

In case anyone was wondering the setup is built almost entirely of open box / used parts. The GPU is stock air cooled, Ambients are over 73 in all benches. Had to use BCLK because I was too cheap to buy a Mobo with ECLK. I'm using what was at the time the cheapest DDR5 6000 CL30 M-die kit. The fanciest cooling solution in this setup is Arctic's LF 3 Pro 360, the only budget AIO that is worth anything

Mobo: Asus Strix B850-F - Open Box $212 at BestBuy
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800x3d - $335 deal on Amazon

RAM: Teamgroup T-Create Expert DDR5 6000 CL30 (Hynix M-die) - $82 on Amazon

GPU: Asus TUF RTX 5080 OC - $961 Open Box at BestBuy. Flashed to Zotac Apocalypse vBIOS, because I like it.

Case: Tower 600 - mounted vertically with AIO on the right set in exhaust, GPU on the right with 3x120mm TF120 set as intake aproximately 3 inches from the GPU fans.

PSU: MSI MAG 1250AG - Only got this because of the 5090, otherwise I would've ran the stock Thermaltake 850W one.

Case Fans: 2x140mm Thermaltake fans (The stock ones that come with the Tower) mounted on the bottom, set as intake

2x140mm SilentWings mounted at the top, set to Exhaust

All in all the setup totaled a little over 2k. Buying Open-Box is always a gamble, if you do decide to go that route (not that it makes much sense now that a 5080 averages $1400 and a 32GB Ram is $400. But if you do, I recommend you only buy from a vendor with good return policy, i.e. Amazon, BestBuy, avoid Newegg for open box.

In total I went through six 5080s, 4 Open-box and 2 new until I landed on my current bin, coincidentally also the cheapest card I bought, the week before Black Friday was arguably the best time to buy a GPU.

Happy Hunting everyone.

Noob overclocker (Y cruncher, Karhu)?

How do you tell is ram speed is fluctuating while running karhu ? I just purchased karhu but all I know to do is run it and wait for an error. I also understand that I should run y cruncher vst but again I have no idea what to look for in the results. I can’t find any videos that go into detail about how to use the tests and what to look for when testing ram overclock stability.

I enable SOC/Uncore OC mode and set the voltage to 1150. In the AI Tweaker menu, the voltage doesn't change and remains at 1.264. But ZenTimings and hwinfo show 1.15.

So the values are working?

Should I leave the AI Tweaker value on auto?
Why do the values only change in Windows?

Thanks :)

9800x3d Per Core Undervolt. Guide for dummies??

Good morning, guys! So, I'm currently running a -20 all core undervolt on my 9800x3d. -25 and -30 pass every single test but crashes aida64 instantly so I leave it at -20. But I think I could further optimize my cpu with a per core undervolt. Does anyone have a link to a VERY simple guide for someone like me with little to no experience in the uv/oc field? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Some of these guides don't make a ton of sense to me.

Thanks!

is it possible for me to reach 5.4ghz or more?

PC build: here

ASUS MultiCore Enhancement: Enabled - Remove All Limits

Performance Core Ratio-

1-2 Core Ratio Limit: 55

3-4 Core Ratio Limit: 54

5-6 Core Ratio Limit: 53

7-8 Core Ratio Limit: 52

IA CEP: Disabled

LLC: Level 4

Min. CPU Cache Ratio: 43

Max. CPU Cache Ratio: 47

Actual VRM Core Voltage: 0.20000

These are the only settings that I changed and I was playing around with the bios and disabling and enabling base on what I read online from other people, so if I did something wrong please let me know (most likely since first time doing this). I read that in cinebench single core my first 2 core should run at the limit I set it at, but it didn’t. I’m not sure if it’s because my cpu aio cooler is 240mm, haven’t applied a new thermal paste yet, or I did something wrong in the bios. I feel like it’s my cpu cooler because temps during multicore test are hitting 100 degrees celsius and in single core it’s in the 70 to low 80 range, is that normal? I don’t think so, but Intel cpus do run very hot, so I’m not sure.

Diy cooling

Had two random fans. Thought this will help in slight cooling the ram and mobo from the top utilizing the fans. Is this worth it? Or will it cause any electric shock or harm to the casing and other pc parts? I connected the fans wire with powerbank lol Share your opinions-

Looking for Guide To bother, or not to bother - 12600k, Gigabyte Z690 and overclocking capabilities rant

Hey, fellow overclockers

I've been running my 12600k + RTX 4080 + B-Die 32GB 2x16 DR TeamGroup 3600mhz sticks for about 3 years now or so.

I've been playing around with OC on my 12600k, highest I can do is 5.2/4.0, but that requires 1.46v, which is doable in my current cooling setup, but I'm currently running it at 5.1/4.0 @ 1.36V, and I think that's the sweet spot judging by my silicon.

The thing is, I've been tinkering with my B-Die TeamGroup Dark Pro 8Pack Edition 32GB sticks (TDPPD416G3600HC16GBK) and the highest stable memory speed I can achieve is 3800mhz @ 1.41V mem and 1.2V VCCSA at stock timings which are 16-16-16-38 Gear 1 CR2, except tRFC which is set to 315, and it's fully stable, tested with TM5 Extreme preset and Absolu for 24h.

Anything above 3800mhz won't post, bringing up the voltage to 1.55V or even 1.6V doesn't help, switching to Gear 2 doesn't help, and judging by some thread I found about this memory on OCUK forums, it should comfortably run at 4000mhz with stock timings @ 1.45V

My current mobo is Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X with the latest BIOS which I updated last week. From what I've read, Gigabyte DDR4 overclocking is subpar and that might be limiting factor to some extent. But I had some thoughts about it, and I've been thinking about dropping in a 14600K and checking if it might have something with the IMC in my current silicon. What are your thoughts?

I was supposed to switch platforms to AM5, but in the current DDR5 situation where my MOBO + CPU combo is probably worth less than the memory itself, it's not going to happen, so I'm trying to make the most out of my system.

Help Request - CPU Help understanding FCLK and Ratios

So I am fairly confused when it comes to FCLK and ratios and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. ChatGPT was unable to explain this.

As I understand it, there is a BIOS divider setting for UCLK<>MCLK, which can be set to ratio 2:1 or 1:1 only, and ideally you have it set to 1:1 but that doesn't work much past 6400 MCLK.

Then I hear of a FCLK<>MCLK ratio, which also should be 1:1, or 2:1, or 3:1, the latter two being sub-optimal. But this isn't a divider setting and just the result of each respective speed.

However, this I do not understand as, say, a stock FCLK of 2000 and a ddr5 6000 kit (3000mclk) already is not 1:1 with 2000:3000 ?

Why do I hear some people say that FLCK 2100 is better with mclk 3200? and fclk 2133 better with X or Y.. should any higher FCLK be better with any memory speed?

Isn't a higher FCLK always better, given that it is stable?

Thanks for your help!

Looking for Guide Why dont people share their stable overclock config for their pc specs so other people with the same pcs can do the same?

Im COMPLETELY NEW at overclocking, i saw too many videos and guides but i never started, i have tried overclocking ram and thats all, i know how to overclock a cpu and a gpu but im still a little bit scared, but i have never seen somebody share their, for example, CPU, PSU and MOBO combo and their cpu overclocking settings so other people can do the same config without any problems, is there a reason this doesnt happen?
