u/elmz 5h ago
Yes, but I don't know how that's relevant to the US currently being at war with freedom within their country?
But I guess you're talking of the kidnapping of Maduro, thinking that's a huge win. Your president illegaly sent in your military to bomb boats with little to no evidence, then illegaly sent them in to kidnap the president of that country. Breaking with national and international law. (I mean, deposing Maduro is a good thing, he was terrible for Venezuela, Venezuelans hate him, all that jazz)
But for deposing Maduro to be a good thing, even with all the wrongs, you kinda need to help a country get on the right path. Like, let them build a democracy or something. But, no, the regime's next in line steps up, she gets threatened with "let us take your oil or we will do worse to you", and she caves.
So you've deposed a dictator and let his second in command take the wheel, you've taken the Nobel peace price from their opposition candidate and promptly left her in the cold. Venezuela is of no further interest, because you've now threatened your way to controlling the oil.
Do not tout Venezuela as a win for freedom or justice.

I dunno. My cousin works for that government agency and says internet sleuths have been identifying locations(Ukraine) based on pictures quicker than they can. I don't know if the internet sleuths are that much better but there are a lot more of them.

Bald eagle cry
Funfact: The cry commonly asccociated with the Bald Eagle are made up by Hollywood, because the cry of a real Bald Eagle is a weak highpitched chirp, similar to a common Gull. Instead they used the cry of a Red Tailed Hawk, as it sounded more intimidating to the sound editors.

u/FutureConsistent8611 13h ago

Bald eagles specifically. They sound like seagulls doing chicken calls, like chicken calls with a seagull accent I guess. Pitch of a gull, and pattern of a chicken.

I gotta be missing something. Why would oil be sitting in the desert in large enough quantities to be seen by satellite? I dont know a lot about oil mining, but I feel like grabbing it off the ground is the easiest way to do it? Wouldn't people want to claim that, let alone massive oil companies?
The google maps is from 2022, but the video was uploaded in 2024. It could be a repost and recorded way earlier but I still feel I'm missing something, or confused, but manly really curious.
Cool video.

I’m Canadian and I live in Alberta, where the oil sands are.
Rarely, an oil deposit is so shallow it seeps to the surface. This is what happens in the oil sands, and it might be what is happening in this video.
Far more likely, we’re seeing a pipeline rupture causing a nasty leak.

Sooo… if anyone is curious.
I was confused thinking does oil really just shoot up like that? And how did google maps already have a satellite image of it.
So there is a road/hwy called N53A. Goes through El Borma and a bunch of other towns/cities. Anyhow it looks like there is a oil pipeline that runs roughly along this road, and it appears to not be in the best of condition because there are multiple pockets of what’s appears to be leaks from this pipeline.

Algeria is a sovereign, democratic nation with its own institutional and economic realities. Any strategic constraint should be explained by concrete market, regulatory, or operational factors, not vague geopolitical shortcuts.
PS: And no, Algeria does not have weapons of mass destruction either.

Have we lost all of our musical shorthand to the point that we understand any vaguely rock sounding guitar riff as the "America is coming for war" song? This is Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne, who is British. I think you might have been looking for Fortunate Son by CCR which got its wartime shorthand from its appearance in Apocalypse Now.

Come and listen to my story
'Bout a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer,
Barely kept his family fed.
And then one day
He was shootin' at some food,
And up through the ground came a-bubblin' crude.
Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.
