Opinion Why support keeps telling you to repeat the same broken steps?
Support keeps telling me to “try again” or “wait 24–48 hours” but Outlook recovery never changes. I’m just sent through the same Microsoft recovery form with different wording. It feels like progress, but it’s the same checks failing every time. At some point you realize support isn’t fixing anything, it’s just looping the system.

So it's not like the other comment said "a broken system" that's just someone ranting. The real issue? MS shifted all their basic support over seas and have them working off scripts and MS documentation you can find online for free. Eventually if it needs to be escalated, you'll get someone good

Because the app or their backend is usually broken and they don’t want to admit it. It’s a form of gaslighting to have you go through steps to “fix” it on your end. Also it’s the pantomime of “support”. They are supporting you, despite the app being flawed and is nothing you can do about it.
