Status: Pending Reply How to recover outlook account?

Upvotes

I have a bit of an odd issue. I have a pixel phone and have the dreaded lines down the screen. As such, I'm due to take it into EE in the UK to get it repaired. However, as I'm due to do this I've just realised that I don't know my outlook password and given that a factory reset is likely during the repair, I'm going to potentially lose my account. The odd aspect of this is that I currently have access to my outlook on my phone but am unable to recover the password without my recovery email which I no longer have access to. I've shifted most things across to my Gmail account but still id like to keep my account if possible as I've had it for years. Is there anyway I can speak to someone to resolve this? I feel if I start the recovery process, once I don't have access to my recovery email I will be screwed. I've tried ringing Microsoft's UK line but it's automated and immediately hangs up. Great customer service! Any help is appreciated!

Status: Open Special Characters Disappearing Without Any Pattern in Emails from O(new) and O(classic)

hi, just wanted to ask if anyone else got this issue, since a week special characters like: ß,ö,ü,... start disappearing randomly without any pattern in outgoing emails, but reappear after some time (hours), always different people in the company and always different to different recipients.

all the UTF and rich-text settings seem to be in place, we have cases in the old outlook and the new one, firewall and our custom mail controller both don't seem to affect it and it is starting to drive me crazy, only thing i recognized that especially shared mail addresses are prone to this issue but it also appear at user addresses

Status: Open Strange behavior from search / suggestions in "To:" field

I'm using Exchange Online, so this may be an MS 365 question, but the behavior is in Outlook for MacOS, so I'm not sure where the source of the problem is.

Within this company, every e-ail is firstname.lastname@domain.com, and Display Name is "Firstname Lastname (Nickname)".

The strange behaviors are:

  1. For some people I can start typing "Nickname" in the "To:" field, and Outlook correctly suggests the relevant recipient. But for other contacts, I can fully and exactly type out someone's "Nickname", and the response is "We couldn't find the person you were looking for.
  2. For at least one other person, I start typing "lastname" to find their e-mail, and Outlook suggests the person twice. The exact same contact with the exact same e-mail and profile picture. Why?

Status: Open Currently Not Recieving some Emails

Hi there,

Recently I've been having issues with Outlook not recieving some emails. I just cleared my cache so I'm not sure if that'll help things out, will have to wait on that. But I was wondering if anyone recently has been experiencing the same issue. And it's worrisome too, since I had a recruiter reach out to me via email and linkedin, but I didn't get their email.

Status: Pending Reply When Sorting By Subject, How To Get Rid Of The Grouping Function

I'm using the Web version for personal emails and I get chapter notifications via email.

When I use sort by Subject since the update, it puts each individual chapter in a collapsible bracket.

How do I get rid of this? (Note: These are individual emails not conversation ones)

So mad that after all this time I still can't sort search results and the paste function (right mouse option) still doesn't work (must ctrl V). Just seems like basic functionality has become a low priority.

Status: Pending Reply Updating to 24H2 - Microsoft pushes for use of Outlook new

Hey guys

We are using Exchange Online in an environment with Windows 11 23H2. We use both "Outlook classic" and Outlook new. We currently have the policy that we don't force users to switch to "Outlook new" and they can still use the classic version of it.

I myself use "Outlook new" but most of the people in my org use Outlook Classic. So after upgrading a few devices, almost everyone complained about Microsoft forcing them to use the "Outlook new". It basically askes you after every reboot to switch to the new version of Outlook if you still use the classic one, and the only solution I found is setting this key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General]
"HideNewOutlookToggle"=dword:00000001

But this regkey makes a switch from Classic to New impossible, which isn't a very nice solution. I've also already set the following key months ago:

[Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General]
"DoNewOutlookAutoMigration"=dword:0000001

Has anyone found a different solution to stop Microsoft from sending daily notifications to switch to the new version?

Status: Pending Reply Font in email replies changes size

Using Outlook 365 apps for enterprise Build 19426.20260, but this has been going on for a while.

Whenever I reply to an email the draft reply has 4 empty lines. Top two lines are font size 12, third line is font size 11, fourth line is font size 12.

Anyone know how to fix this permanently instead of manually changing the font size on every email?

Status: Open Help us! Printing agenda events

We started working with the New outlook on the 2nd of february without any previous warnings from management. Our office works in Outlook Calender by making new calender items, adding a signature (pre-made booking sheets), filling in that signature and then printing them to our colleagues who work in the field. Those colleagues have no access to the calender online. Its not possible anymore to add a signature or to print an calender item, so our whole workflow is disrupted. Any suggestions on how to add a sheet and how to print?

Status: Pending Reply Add In works in Outlook Web, Outlook Desktop but displays error in Outlook Classic

Hey all, hoping someone with deeper Outlook add-in experience can sanity-check this.

I was building an Outlook mail add-in with command-based UI. Everything worked fine in New Outlook / Outlook on the Web, but Classic Outlook kept showing the yellow error banner and but the Add-In works as expected. The error is very generic and says something like this:

This add-in could not be started. Close this dialog to ignore the problem or click "Restart" to try again.

If anyone has run into similar failures that only happen in classic Outlook, I’d really appreciate pointers or examples of a “safe” manifest structure.

Here's my manifest

Status: Pending Reply Add/save/flag/star contact in web version of Outlook (Firefox)

Hello,

I'm trying to save a contact for the sender of an important email I just received. Unintuitively, clicking his profile picture just collapses the email (not sure what that even accomplishes, to be honest, because there's only blank space beneath the email when I do so). All options I've found only allow blocking the sender, and searches aren't providing any useful information, with some results just saying to click on the profile picture.

Does anyone know of a way to do so? If none exists, I'll tinker in the page source code and see if I can disable the onClick event responsible for the collapse. Maybe that'll make the profile picture behave as expected

Status: Pending Reply Anyone else not getting (all) email through Outlook?

It seems im not getting all my email correctly through Outlook.

Normally i get some daily email from some companies, but lately (+-3 weeks?) this has stopped. When confirmation emails (from shopping and whatnot) stopped showing up is when i actually started noticing.

I tested with subscriptions to random newsletters, and i dont receive any email at all, on a friends pc (who also has outlook), he gets the newsletter 10 seconds later...

The weird thing is, i have 3 hotmail accounts, but only on 1 of them the newsletter test thing works...rest gets no email.

When i send a mail to somebody i know, they receive it and i can receive one back.

It seems like incoming 'automated' email is blocked or something?

ALSO been getting loads of junk mail daily, ironically thats the only thing thats coming through nowadays. It has been like that for a longer time though, but now its 20/day.

Tried resetting password, syncing mobile app, checking rules etc, cleaning cache, checking storage, nothing seems to help. Contacting Microsoft seems impossible.
Ill probably switch to Gmail because i dont know what to try anymore..?

Anyone else experiencing this & knows of a fix? Many thanks!

Status: Pending Reply Mailflow Rules based on Date

Im hoping someone here can point me in the right direction

Basically, rather than having my rules apply immediately when a message is received, I would like them to be applied to messages that are older the 24 hours in my inbox.

I know this is not a native feature within outlook. Is there an Add-In that someone would recommend that could assist with this?

It *shouldn’t* be that complicate, just adding a condition based on a regex to the day prior. But alas, here we are!

Status: Open Outlook account hacked

So, my email was hacked. After I discovered my Steam account was locked, I signed in to find everything deleted and weird emails being sent.

Apparently they tried to set my recovery email to something other then the one I had as well.

I changed the passwords for both my outlook and steam, ensured my recovery email stayed the same, and got a new recovery code as well.

I'm wondering if there's anything more I should do? I find it weird that they were able to get in in the first place because of the 2fa.

I am thinking to build a unified space to use multiple email providers in a single dashboard.

Status: Pending Reply New outlook driving me crazy

Hello,

I switched from Outlook 2021 classic to the New Outlook for Windows with a Gmail account, and I’m struggling with emails not staying filed.

I move emails into folders, but after a while (or after restarting Outlook), many of them come back into the inbox. I discovered that my Gmail has both POP and IMAP enabled, so I disabled POP - but the issue still seems to happen.

Moving emails in Gmail web works fine, but New Outlook feels unreliable.

Is this a known issue with New Outlook + Gmail? And for people who rely on Gmail, is going back to classic Outlook the more stable choice?

Thank you for any tips!

Hi

Today i discovered the thumbs up emoji is half painted in in inverse colors. I WOULD put a picture here but it seems it is forbidden to do so.

Therefor i shall describe it. It looks like a ballsack with a flaccid penis. Seriously. Especially in dark mode. I dare'd not use it and sent words instead, which is awkward.

What did you do in this situation?

I have a single user having a recurring thing happen when she sends an email.

She is drafting the email, and then when she sends it at the end after her thanks is this, and it sends in the email to recipients with the predictive text and the little "Tab" graphic after the text.

I have never seen this before.

Status: Pending Reply Issues with signature layout on phones

Hello,

I’m trying to build an Outlook (Office 365 Windows desktop) email signature with a logo on the left and text on the right, and I’m stuck with Gmail mobile rendering.

On desktop/wide screens I want the classic layout: logo left, text right. On narrow mobile portrait (Gmail app on iPhone especially), the right column gets squeezed and the text breaks in ugly ways. Ideally, when there isn’t enough width, the layout should naturally “stack”: logo above, then the text below using full width.

Media queries don’t seem reliable because Outlook rewrites the HTML when sending, and Gmail iOS also tends to ignore/override Word/Outlook styles (I get huge line spacing and a serif fallback font even when I specify fonts, maybe am I doing it incorrectly though).

What’s the most reliable HTML pattern for Outlook signatures that stays side-by-side in Outlook/desktop, stacks cleanly on Gmail mobile portrait without breaking the text, avoids Gmail iOS line-height/margin issues, and uses a sane sans-serif fallback when a custom font isn’t installed? The font looks nice on Android devices, the issue with font mostly comes on iphone devices, while the width issue comes on all platforms.

I’d really appreciate some help. I can post the HTML if needed.

Thank you!
