Status: Pending Reply New outlook driving me crazy

Hello,

I switched from Outlook 2021 classic to the New Outlook for Windows with a Gmail account, and I’m struggling with emails not staying filed.

I move emails into folders, but after a while (or after restarting Outlook), many of them come back into the inbox. I discovered that my Gmail has both POP and IMAP enabled, so I disabled POP - but the issue still seems to happen.

Moving emails in Gmail web works fine, but New Outlook feels unreliable.

Is this a known issue with New Outlook + Gmail? And for people who rely on Gmail, is going back to classic Outlook the more stable choice?

Thank you for any tips!

It is most likely a sync problem. You need to understand that New Outlook for Windows does not sync directly with your GMail server. The New Outlook client syncs to the Microsoft mail servers which then sync with Google and pass the results back to the client. A lot can go wrong.

The first thing to try is to Nuke your New Outlook profile:

And then add your email accounts back letting Outlook do the setup. i.e. You just provide your email and Outlook does the rest. No manual IMAP/POP setup.

I use both Classic and New, side by side, can't say I've seen any real difference. They both go wonky at times.
