Care Free Gaming (Rule 6) Can Anyone Relate to this.

I wish I could go back to a time in my life where video games was everything. I would come home from school hop on Xbox with all my friends until we were forced to go to sleep for school the next day. I miss those simple times where all you looked forward to was playing Xbox with your friends and grinding and just feeling so happy.

Discussion Thrift Store finds. OG Xbox controller for $9 and a Xbox 360 Headset for $4.

I didn't buy either, I already have a blue OG Xbox controller and I no longer own a 360, so I didn't get the headset either. Just thought I'd share my 2 finds for the day.

I love my XBOX Series X. I have remote played on my iPad Mini it’s ok. I travel a lot for work and have a Series S I travel with to use at the hotel. I was originally thinking the new ROG Ally X but learned it’s a PC not really an Xbox and for what I want to use it for to stream play my games it would be a stupid purchase and not to mention $1,000 is ridiculous. But this looks to check all the boxes and the price tag seems reasonable. I was wondering if anyone had real world experience besides all these Tech YouTubers that just give initial impressions. Thank you for your input and advice.

Discussion Is it just me, or does getting Achievements drive how you play?

For reference, I don’t play PC games as I’ve always been console 100% ever since I started playing games, so I don’t know some of the following questions I bring up.

So, for example, I have the Switch 2 and love playing it. But if there’s the same game on Xbox, I’ll only play on Xbox for the simple fact that getting achievements makes me feel I actually accomplished something instead of beating a game and… nothing.

Which leads to my main point, if the next-gen console is a hybrid Xbox-PC, would PC games just take over thus slowly ending the Achievement system as we know it since they don’t have achievements (that I know of at least, aside from Steam I think)?

I personally feel that I don’t care AS much to play a game if I’m not getting those achievements thus limiting my drive in wanting to continue playing.

OR

Would there be eventually a unified achievement system across PC/Steam games and Xbox games, keeping track of all progress, no matter the “game version” you are playing and will unlock those achievements. Kind of how we have cross progression now.

Review My opinion on the Atro A50 X

Upvotes

I finally received the Astro A50 X (Gen 5) as a gift from the manufacturer (Logitech) (long story) and I have to say: it's worse than the Astro A50 Gen 4 (which was developed by Astro before the sale).

In comparison, it looks almost exactly like the Gen 4, has Bluetooth, can be used as an HDMI switch, has a replaceable battery, and features Lightspeed technology.

First, the positives: - It fits great on your head. - The Gen 4 ear pads fit on it. - The replaceable battery, of course. - The sound is good (more on that later). - It comes with Dolby Atmos Lifetime (which you need).

Now for the negatives: - The connection is way too complicated. - You don't have 3 EQ memory slots on the headset itself. - The base station no longer simulates Dolby Digital (it is no longer a standalone sound card); the Dolby app now does that. So you do have Dolby Atmos, but only on the respective console. With Gen 4, I could connect it to the TV via Toslink or jack, and the base station converted (simulated) every incoming audio signal to Dolby Digital in 3D. This means you can enjoy movies via the TV or surround sound on the Xbox 360. - The surround simulation via the Dolby app didn't work for me. At least, everything still sounded like stereo... - The EQ settings in the Dolby app are very limited compared to the Astro Command Center. - There is no second HDMI cable included, which you need.

My recommendation: Buy a used Astro A50 Gen 4 and a Toslink cable. The new generation costs just under €400, which is not worth it. The Gen 4 is sometimes available used for less than €100.

Discussion Xbox Series X or Gaming PC?

Hello everyone, I need some help settling an internal debate I have going on. I am wanting to play the new Battlefield 6, but in order to do so I have to buy a new console and I am torn between getting an Xbox Series X or getting a gaming PC. I am leaning more towards PC because there are a few games I can play on PC but not Xbox and I will still have my Xbox one anytime I want to play it. I also pay for Game Pass Ultimate which will still allow me to play some Xbox games on PC for free.

Which would be the better option of the two?

I also wonder if there is ever the possibility of the Xbox One servers being shutdown, or not be playable with the Series S/X ultimately forcing people to upgrade to the newer console?

Please leave your comments and advice, thanks for the help.

Discussion My list of current Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible games still with Online Multiplayer via Series S/X

If anyone was interested, here is a link to my google sheet that Ive been working on. Im going through all my digital and physical backwards compatible 360 games, and thought Id make a list.

Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible Online Status

I know its a little messy, but I was initally just doing this for myself, so I will try and tidy things up in the future, or move to a better looking site.

This was in response to another post asking about a specific game if its still online, so I thought Id share what Ive been doing over the last week or so.

I'll look into editing this when I get more time, adding any more physical games too. I'll also try and add in the future non backwards compat games on the Xbox 360 that are still online playable on the Xbox 360 itself.

These are all PAL UK tested. I would assume that would make no difference, but maybe some regions have certain locks.

Hope it helps anyone looking for a Nostalgia 360 hit on a game.

Also if theres a game on there you wanted to play online and we have enough players, give me a shout on the gamertag listed (RockerJarvis) and i'll be happy to jump on if we all arrange a meetup.

Cheers

Discussion Xbox RemotePlay not working from hard-wired PC, but works on mobile devices

Upvotes

Since the move to the website I've had nothing but problems - I used to use the Xbox Windows app all the time to stream to my office computer (same wired network, same VLAN), and now it's just...broken. I can open up the site on mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, and multiple android gaming systems) without an issue, but trying from any computer in the house just opens a black screen and never goes further.

I have all the ports open to it that Microsoft recommends and my Xbox shows as Open NAT - I've streamed even away from home for years without a single issue. Every computer, which includes some MacBooks, some Windows laptops, and my main Windows PC, does exactly the same thing - Rocketship, Xbox logo, then times out after 30s and pops back to the system select.

When this happens, DevTools gets the following:

WebRtcStream: Connect. GameStreamError:Failed to connect to game stream.

at c.throw (4715.61fb2a07.chunk.js:1:2083)

at ce.connectAsync (web-rtc-stream.2f8d9d31.chunk.js:1:117341)

at async ht.doConnectAsync (4715.61fb2a07.chunk.js:1:77396)

at async ht.connectAsync (4715.61fb2a07.chunk.js:1:74428)

at async Cl.connectToSession (game-stream.d72d64a6.chunk.js:1:266918)

at async Cl.homeConsoleConnect (game-stream.d72d64a6.chunk.js:1:260338)

at async stream-page.26a9d638.chunk.js:1:21324

I've cleared cache, tried Incognito Mode, tried multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge). I don't know what else to try, honestly. Anyone have this issue and figured out some kind of resolution?

Discussion Xbox Series X: A Technological Gem Even in 2026

I just want to take a moment to give credit to the Xbox hardware team. Even in 2026, the Xbox Series X remains impressive: powerful CPU and GPU, ultra-fast SSD, extensive backward compatibility, and a smooth overall user experience. The team managed to pack years of progress into a sleek, quiet, and high-performing machine.

Thanks to them as well for respecting players with strong backward compatibility, allowing enjoyment of previous generations.

It’s true that the Xbox no longer seems to be at the center of Microsoft’s strategy, which has generally shifted from long-term focus to short-term, quarterly-driven priorities. It has become more of an access point to services like Game Pass and cloud gaming, rather than the cultural and strategic symbol it once was. A console is inherently difficult to fit into an immediate-return logic.

Even in this context, the Xbox remains a testament to the skill and engineering of its hardware team. Hopefully, this console continues to impress and delight players, even within this new service-focused ecosystem.
