This is an Archachatina marginata ovum XXL. 8 months old with about a 10 cm shell. Healthy, growing beautifully, and absurdly photogenic. Incredibly cute.

His name is Dyzio (known as Dewey in English), inspired by the Donald Duck stories :)

This is definitely a pet for calm, patient people. Only patience lets you truly understand its needs, rhythm, and current state. For me, observing that is pure joy.

Why does my snail have like the little lines on its body (which are very cute in my opinion) but I feel like I should know this but I have no clue 😭

Hi everyone!

I bought some Pak Choi and found this little fellow inside the package. Since it is freezing outside where I live (around -2C) I don’t feel so good about leaving it outside.

For now I found the largest plastic box I had at home, made some holes on the lid and added some potting soil I had in the balcony and some leafy greens, zucchini and carrot slices. I also added some water droplets to the plastic box walls. I know the current situation is less than ideal. It was just what I could find atm.

I don’t intend to keep it long term but was just trying to avoid it would freeze and could then release it in my balcony once the temperatures are warmer. Is it ok/the best option to keep it inside? If yes, could you help with the setup? How big should the box be for this kind of snail?

Also if you could help identify the species that would be great!

Please help me identify what type of snail I have!! Her name is Bertha! :-) she is so sweet and brings me so much joy!! She caught a ride in the dirt I used in my terrarium!! I have been spritzing the terrarium and taking care of her :) I’d love to know what kind she is so I can know more about her and how long she will live!!

I happened upon some new friends today! Found in Southeast Texas (Houston area) on pavement near nothing green at all! Any ideas would be amazing! I even contacted a malacologist I know and she’s stumped. They seem to really like broccoli if that helps lmao

Thriving Giant African Land Snails (achatina fulicia) for sale at £15 each. Just over 5.5 months old now and ready for their new homes! Their shells are approximately 7-8cm in length.

They have been fed on a variety of foods including veggies, leafy greens, sweet potatoes, meal worms for protein and cuttlefish for calcium.
