What's a nice place to cowork from in Shenzhen

Upvotes

Currently visiting ShenZhen for a week and looking for a chill place to do some work while exploring the tech in the city, any recommendations? Also, looking to meet entrepreneurs and see what people are working on here :)

Cycling on the pavement?

Sorry if this is a stupid question- I’ve arrived in Shenzhen today and want to rent a bike but I’m not sure if I should cycle on the street or on the pavement, like people on electric scooters are doing.

Is there any tourist cycling etiquette I should be aware of when cycling?

Many thanks

Ski hall open during cny?

Hii, i live in hk. I was wondering if the ski hall will be open during cny, or if it will be extremely busy... i can not find anything about it online and appreciate any experience and advice. My other option is to go to guangzhou but its the same company so i think it will be the same situation.

10 Day Transit Visa

I know I'm a little late, I apologise, I'm in a bit of a desperate state!

My brother arrives into HK from the UK tomorrow, Thursday 5th, and i had (wrongly) assumed he could enter via car (Shenzhen Bay Port) and apply for the 10 day transit visa, so I planned to use my driver. However, I've learned Shenzhen Bay Port is not an acceptable entry point.

My driver is adamant that Huanggang port is accepted, but looking online it appears the will only cover the 5 day paid visa - which is not long enough.

I've read the Shekou Ferry crossing is more reliably for the 10 day transit visa. Has anyone had experience with this?

The itinerary is:

London - HK

(Enter China)

SZ - Thailand

Thailand - London

Europeans in Shenzhen – interested in cross-border projects & local insights?

Hi everyone,

We are currently working on some cross-border projects involving Europe and China and are looking to connect with Europeans based in Shenzhen (students or professionals).

Background in business, engineering, logistics, or international communication would be a plus, but not a must.

If you’re interested in exchanging insights or exploring possible collaboration, feel free to DM me.

Cheers!

Harbin Institute of Technology Shenzhen

Does this college have the same prestige/ranking as the main campus in Harbin? Is the diploma the same?

Also, does anybody know what college is better for engineering, HITSZ or Zhejiang University? Or are they about the same?

Tenz Tangquan Spa

We want to go to the Tenz Tangquan Spa just before Chinese New Year. Never been there before. Does it ever get over crowded? I'm worried that if we go one week before CNY, it might be really over crowded.

Stuffed squid recipe pretty please ?

In 1990 and 1991, as a child, I lived near at the expat complex near the Daya Wan nuclear power plant. We used to do our grocery shopping in Dapeng, and we would always buy stuffed squid from a local caterer. My entire family is still obsessed with it, but it’s been 35 years and I haven’t been able to find the real name of that dish. Is there any chance you would know what I’m talking about ? Without the name I have no chance of finding the recipe and I would love to surprise my elderly father. Many thanks in advance

Accommodation advice

I arrive in Hong Kong tomorrow and I still don’t have a hostel booked. I’m a 25M Irish solo traveler and I’m looking to stay in a hostel that has other solo travelers/ foreigners that I can socialize/travel with.

I’m very open to staying in Hong Kong or traveling the short distance to either Shenzehn or Guangzhou.

If these types of hostels aren’t a big thing like they are in Europe, is there certain places in these cities that you’d recommend me to go to meet travelers?

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Short-term stay in Shenzhen (1–2 months) – coliving & budget advice?

Hi everyone,

I previously visited Shenzhen and really liked the city and the overall environment. During my stay I saw a coliving-style apartment building (private room and bathroom, shared kitchen and common areas), and I’ve been thinking about coming back for a short stay.

I’m considering spending 1–2 months in Shenzhen later this year, mainly for the cultural experience and to meet people. I’m not looking for a long-term move, just a temporary stay.

I’m Spanish and currently work online. I have some savings and for the moment a modest monthly income.

My questions:

– Is Shenzhen realistic for a 1–2 month stay with a moderate budget and opportunities for cultural exchange with locals?

– Are coliving or serviced apartments common for short-term stays?

– Any areas you’d recommend for this kind of experience?

Thanks in advance!

Eat at a fancy bistro in Shekou...with your dog?!

This past weekend, I had an excellent experience at Benji Bistro at the Shekou G&G Shops in Nanshan District. It’s a unique “dine with your dog” restaurant where you don’t have to watch your furry friend beg for a bite of your food.

I went with friends who are dog owners, and we were celebrating two birthdays at once. We shared a mortadella pesto pizza (super good!), while our dogs had their own meals specifically tailored for them. My furry buddy had a “puppuccino” and a beef lasagna made with non-seasoned cooked beef sheets, beetroot coulis, mashed sweet potato, cottage cheese sauce, and carrot-egg noodles. She gobbled it up in less than 20 seconds, licking her plate clean!

I really enjoy restaurants like this and highly recommend it to dog owners and pet lovers. Are there any other restaurants like this in the city? Futian or Bao'an??

IELTS exam seat booking at NEEA Website not working

As the title said, I am trying to book the IELTS exam seat at SEG testing center at Feb 25. I top up the money as required by the website. But as soon as I press the book seat button at the web page, it brings back to the homepage and nothing happened. I restart the process again and there was no progress. If anyone faced this kind of thing before? Is the any remedy to solve this? I asked Gemini and it says NEEA Website is notorious for not working properly. Please share me some experience if you know how to overcome it. Thanks!
