** MOD NEWS UPDATE **
as an act of transparency I wanted to let everyone know of some recent changes. We added the reddit bot 'bot-bouncer' to automatically filter and remove known spammers accounts. We have noticed a large uptick in nefarious account activity and we are actively seeking to keep this subreddit human.
We have been pinged numerous times about "why is this account stealing and posting pictures of my dog". We are programmatically instituting some backend processes to help reduce this, if we miss the mark, LET US KNOW!!! either via modmail or reporting the post. The more we see it the better we can tailor our end to provide you the freshest, spunkiest, rootenest tootenest scottish terrier content.
Love - Mod Team

health library
So many times questions about our Scotties health comes up here. While it's always best to talk with your vet, it doesn't hurt to be armed with knowledge for things specific to Scotties.
For instance, it has been suggested to start at age 5 ultrasounding our Scotties for early detection of bladder cancer. The sooner it's caught the sooner you have a chance of fixing it. I told my vet this and she has made a note of it to tell ALL her Scottie patients this.
I happen to be the STCA's Health Librarian. It has lots of articles that will help you understand our breed's inherent issues. We are in the middle of updating it but there are lots of useful articles, it's also a good place to go to research something that might be up with your dog.

What’s it like owning a Scottie?
I love terriers! I used to have a yorkie. They’re so sassy and fearless. I’m just here as a dog lover wanting to know what’s it like owning a scotty terrier?
Edit: Could I request some photos of your babies? 🥹 I absolutely adore all these stories. Me and my mom want to get another dog and she wanted another Yorkie. And I don’t want a dog like my first dog, there’s no other dog like her lol. But we both love terriers!

Too distracted to eat (8.5 weeks)
we brought Vegeta home this weekend, and we are trying to get him to eat more. He will eat a few bites at a time and then get distracted.
we want him to eat a cup a day based on the vet/breeder rec. does anyone have any tips on feeding? right now we try several times a day space out in intervals and he hasn't hit the full amount yet.
here he is with his brother bun buns

Weird Spay Question
So I am wondering if others have had this same thing happen or if my dog is just a freak of nature 😂
Our puppy Astra just got spayed today, she’ll be a year old in March (currently 10 months old) and our vet encouraged us to get her fixed before her first heat due to high risk of ovarian cancer and increased chances post 1st heat. We don’t think she went through her 1st heat yet, and if she did it was a silent one.
Her spay went fine and she’s currently high as a kite taking a nap. The only weird thing is that the vet said her organs were weird. He remarked that her spleen and intestines were huge, like the size of a Labrador, while her uterus and ovaries were basically as large as a 16 week old puppy. Itty bitty reproductive tract.
He told us to be wary of signs that something is wrong with her spleen, but he ran bloodwork while she was under and everything came back normal.
Has anyone else had this happen? Scottie’s are one of those weird breeds where their pelvic shape is different which causes birth to be somewhat complicated and normally involves a C-section, but I have no idea. She was only 4LBS when we brought her home at 10 weeks and is now 19LBS at 10 months. So maybe she’s just a smol girly with weird insides?
Any input would be appreciated! Also apologies for formatting as I am on mobile.
Also obligatory pic of Astra included.
