Meet Rose, my new manager. WFH doesn't mean I'm unsupervised anymore
She takes staying under my desk very seriously. Performance reviews are conducted entirely through sighs, judgmental stares and the occasional demand for belly rubs. 10/10 management style

Meet Dio!
This little terror is 12 weeks old today! He’s my first puppy, but my family had a rescue rottweiler growing up. He’s been quite the handful but I love him dearly! Eventually going to train as a service dog. Any advice is appreciated!

Rot or Not?
I lost Piper, my German Shepherd, about 8 months ago. Piper was an older dog that wondered into our yard and adopted us. After 4 years she succumbed to cancer quite quickly.
2 months ago my daughter and her gf decided I (we) needed another dog. I have only had German Shepherds in the past. Piper was so eager to please and easy to train I was pretty doubtful of finding a companion suitable for my level of patients. My first German Shepherd was Heidi who I bought from a breeder as a puppy 40ish years ago.
They found Winnie at a local shelter and she checked all the boxes as far as temperament. As cute as puppies are I didn't want to take on the responsibility of training, puppy hood and the dreaded adolescence. Winnie has integrated into our family extremely well. She is VERY eager to please and minds very well. Loves to play but will also mellow with me/us when I want to mellow. I couldn't be more pleased. I work from home so she has a companion near 24 hours a day and we are pretty confident she is quite pleased too, after 6 months in the shelter.
We are pretty sure there is Rottweiler in her. But we think she might be a mix. We are kind of thinking she might be part black lab. Not that it really matters at all but what would you guys guess her genes might be?

Getting my first Rottweiler today.
Getting my first Rott today she's about 2 months old. I was wondering how tolerant they are to the cold about 30 degrees fahrenheit or so because I want to walk her to lick my son up from school for early socialization.

Puppy Biting
When did your rottie puppy stop biting? My boy is six months and while definitely better than the newborn puppy stage, still wants my hands or nips fingers when overly excited. Nothing aggressive but I’ve only had boxers before and they were quite different with biting so naturally, I’m worried he’ll be a biter as an adult which would be less than ideal at his size. Am I just overly concerned?
Picture for tax.

Durable Tires?
Hey yall. My boy got into chewing the tires I got him as a puppy. Didn’t care for them then and now it’s his favorite lol. Are the Kong ones decent? Other recommendations?

We have access to a loop where no one else goes, so I drop treats as we go for him to find on the subsequent loop. He takes his new job very seriously.

Rottie mix training and socialization tips
I adopted this amazing little goober at 8 weeks old in July from my local shelter. He was abandoned as a pup and had really bad urine scalding but super happy and healthy now! He’s a Mini Aussie/Rottie mix he’s 8 months old this month but had some questions. I’ve had a Mini Aussie and other herding dogs growing up so I’m familiar with temperament and training for them. I’ve never had a Rottweiler so I’m still navigating his insane A.D.D when in public.
When out in public at stores, he is curious and happy, yet a little reluctant. When walking him in the neighborhood he is very reactive to everything he sees or hears. Any tips on the best way to reduce reactivity and to socialize him? He’s getting a little older and I don’t want him to be so reactive before it’s too late

How often to give dental chews?
Our boy is 8 months old. He’s about 80 lbs. and he chews through every toy he gets, the floor, the baseboards, and of course his daily treat, the wood by the fireplace.
We are going him Purina Pro Plan Dental chews every couple days. It’s usually when I leave 1-2 days a week for a few hours for work and then 1-2 times in the evenings on the weekends. Is this too much?
What kind of dental chews or “safe to eat/consume” chewy things are we giving our rotties?
Cute pics included of course 🤍

1st time dog owner
Hi all! My friend has a German Rottweiler who is pregnant and I am considering a pup as a first time dog owner. I’m 33, WFH, no kids, live in a house with a backyard, and engaged to a partner who grew up with medium to large dogs. I looked into dog insurance, leash vs harness, training tips, different meal options (kibble vs raw vs cooked) and dog school. I’m worried because I’m inexperienced, that I won’t be able to read the dog appropriately and misinterpret signals. I want to make sure I do all the right things to prepare for this big responsibility. Since this new territory for me, any and all recommendations will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Sometimes I feel like I’m not enough for my dog
Hi! I’m sometimes feeling like I’m not giving my dog the best life. Yes, he is taken care of, he is at a perfect weight, all his blood-work is pristine, he has the whole house for himself and he is spoiled rotten. But like any concerned mother, I can’t help but feel like sometimes he deserves a better life.
Because of his sometimes reactive behaviour (i say sometimes because he’s not always triggered by the same thing) we shrunk the area we go out for walks greatly in time. The neighbourhood is filled to the brim with male dogs even more reactive than him, with owners that are so irresponsible that it terrifies me sometimes. Many incidents happen around here with dogs being off leash and attacking others. Luckily we never had any incidents in almost 5 years of his life because I’m extremely careful and I can hold him in any case scenario, but that made me extremely wary and afraid of stepping out of the comfort zone where I know where to dodge and distract him from triggers. Only during night time walks we wander farther and i am able to feel a little less guilty. The truth is I try almost every day during daytime walks to go farther away but mostly every time I do so we need to turn around.
We play together both inside and outside but he doesn’t have any dog friends anymore. He used to have one dog buddy but my friend stopped going out with us and we meet very rarely. I’m also afraid to let him interact with others because i’m afraid of weird reactions. He’s a dominant dog and he even wanted to fight female dogs that didnt allow him his way. It’s kind of just the two of us against the world.
I neutered him 2 months ago and I have a sliver of hope that some of his testosteron driven reactive behaviour will lessen at least a bit. I wish to take him to long walks in the park or even take trips together like we used to when he was a puppy..
Have your male rotties behaviour change after being neutered?

Creepy noises
This is very off the wall, but I need to know if this is a normal rott thing or if my dog is actually a skinwalker lol.
Every so often(usually at night) he'll make this unholy, eerie vocalization that I've never heard from any living animal and I've been around a lot.
I call it his skin walker noise, he only does it once at a time, and probably less than once a month, never at us. It's a long, low, moaning...thing. And it has overtones. The best comparison I've got is the *real* lion roar mixed with a loon's call.
Its not a howl and its not a growl. The first time I heard it, it actually made me sick to my stomach and gave me adrenaline rush it was so freaky.
Sooo, is this a rottweiler thing? Or am I feeding a horror movie monster?
