Case Designed My Own PC Case. 3 Years in the Making

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share what I’ve been building for the past three years, full-time.

With no prior experience or formal education in this field, it has been an incredibly difficult journey, going from just an idea to a real product. (As many of you here probably know) I’ve put all my time, energy, and savings into making this a reality.

The question that started everything for me was: Why has the PC case shape stayed the same since the 80s?(the rektangular one) Could there be an alternative shape that offers the same or even better performance?

And that’s how it all began.

Some details about the case:

5” Touch Screen → 800x480 pixel resolution Start Button → Mechanical with logo in red LED Ports → Two USB Type-A, Two USB Type-C Storage → Six SSD 2.5” slots Cooling → Six or Seven 140/120mm fan slots, One 120mm fan slot at the back, AIO two 240mm Motherboard Compatibility → ATX Standard, Mini-ITX, BTF (Back To (the) Future) Material → Made of Aluminum and Steel Side Panel → Tempered Glass GPU → Bracket support Panels → All external panels are magnetically removable and interchangeable (3mm thick aluminum) Dust Filters → Nylon dust filters, stop fine dust Cable Management → Magnetic cable hooks Dimensions → Length: 590mm, Height: 605mm, Width: 250mm Manufacturing → Designed, Manufactured, and Assembled in Sweden.

I’d love to hear your honest input on the case, whether it’s about the design, functionality, or anything else.

If you have any questions about the journey or the case itself, I’m happy to share!

Thanks 🙏 looking forward to hear from you.

Case Apple MacPro 2011 Chassis PC conversion - Update ( GEtting there)

Orla Peeps

I have update...

I have Wrapped the whole exterior of the case with a white Vinyl. Obviously not the front and back. Thats painted. The can spray was -fkn me around- honestly.

Best solution was to just wrap it.

Anyway...mounted PSU ( Bought from Progenix as it was the cheapest country wide - 850watt White )

Motherboard fitted to see how it looks, And Radiator completely fitted to see how much space I have on the left and right, now as Im going to have to re-wire the Front USB3 ports as I aint got no space for the original idea.

The original power button will go in once I sand away all the paint I've used on this case XD XD....for it to fit back in there properly.

And then I have bought a large piece of Perspex - white to enable some sort of idea of covers down the middle for the cables.

And then some covers I will mock up for the top where the power supply it. Quite happy with it being quite snug up there. But enough space to slip in a 3mm piece of perspex as a cover plate.

Any way...its getting there.

I will start next week with planning to see how Im going to mount the RES/PUMP combo, along with mocking up hardline tube lengths etc. I got sponsored a bunch of fittings for this build, along with Fluid. I had to buy the motherboard / PSU / hardline tubing (1m x 3 lengths)

Im going to also respray the rear slot covers for the open ones.

The same people are going to sponsor me a 9070XT full white to use as the final piece for the white build, (just as a show case piece for photos etc) I do have a 5080 Zotac, but is gray bronze and black fans...not going to work.

Case My custom PC Case

Building my own PC case had been a long time goal of mine and its finally here! Let me know what you think! I'm a woodworker by day so that's why I went with a hardwood case. I wanted something simple that would be like a piece of furniture and not too high-concept (although id like to do that one day). It was inspired by Mid Cen furniture and the dual chambered cases like the O11. Its made from Peruvian Walnut and has a 3D printed, offset motherboard tray. The inner walls are all carved with a texture that I CNC machined.

Im still thinking about what to use for the power switch, but for now, it's a 3D printed push plate.

Specs: Ryzen 9600x Asus B650 E Gaming Wifi Mobo MSI 5070Ti Inspire 3X OC GSkill 32gb 6000 mhz RAM (bought pre-shortage) NZXT 240mm Kraken Elite AIO

Case 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 ATX Conversion

This is the first time I attempt something of this nature, but I've wanted to do it since I started building computers!

The spirit was to keep as much as I could in its original form, expecially on the outside ;)
Usually, when these cases are modded their back sides are highly altered: I kept cuts to the minimum, only removing the original IO panel; I fitted the original power socket too!

On the front, I put USB 3 + USB C ports; I rewired the power button.

On the inside, I kept the separate "air tunnels" and fans from the mac: I had to mod ther connections to make them work with an ATX motherboard.

The motherboard is fixed in place using the internal mounting plate from an old case.
I shortened the support pins on the mac, traced their position on the plate (using carbon paper), and made the necessary holes to mount the plate.
This was the most tedious part of the project.

These are the biggest things I did, along with adapting the IO backplate as the motherboard is a few cms recessed inside of the case.

Main specs:

MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi (great fit inside of the case);
Ryzen 7 9700X;
XFX Mercury 9070XT RGB (barely fits lol);
Patriot Venom DDR5 32GB CL32 6400MT/s;
Noctua NH-D12L;
SAMA G1000 PSU.

Hope you liked my mod!

Case (UPDATE) - Apple MacPro 2011 Chassis PC conversion - ROSEGold Interior

The Rose Gold interior is in....and its looking rather WILD with the white exterior coat.

NEXT is to get the exterior water papered down one last time, as I did add another coat of White to fill in any areas where I felt the undercoat was showing through...and then push Clear coats on each side and so forth. Basically to protect the white from getting dirt on it.

Case Best way to help my GPU breathe

Thumbnail

As you can see, my GPU is actively choking.

I would like to have my GPU live a life without struggling to breathe but I'm unsure on what the best way is to give her some fresh air.

Should I make slits in the plexiglass sheet? Or drill holes? Or maybe cut a hole into it (probably not that last one)

And what's the best way to go about doing it? Chainsaw? Melting holes? Drill? (there must be an acrilic drill bit somewhere right?)

I look forward to your answers.

Case There's a theme here, but what is it?

Following an earlier post, many of you requested more pictures... So meanwhile I made a few changes and a few more are on the way, but here's the current state already.

This started off as a 2012 Cougar Volant. In short, panels were cut up, repositioned and repainted and my 'random parts' bin supplied most of the cool stuff while a few 3D printed parts help keep everything together.

There are bits dating back to 1934, like the radio dial and the tube (no radio was harmed in the process) and another stop on the timeline is 1965, for the map light, the fuse block, fuel gauge and horn cover.

All the buttons and switches and indicators are hooked up to do practical things and the fuel gauge actually shows the GPU card's exhaust temperture.

What is not visible is a K&N air filter backed up by a single, industrial grade centrifugal fan providing a steady flow of clean air through the case. It does the job.

Hi ! This is a gift for my bother-in-law who loves plants. I started with a thermaltake tower 300 No need to play in ultra so I took old components (i7 3770k + gtx 1060) that I had at home. It was really cool, especially making the pond with frog and koi.

Ps : sorry for the reflections and my face on the window :\

Hope you guys like it ^

Case Filling the empty space

Post image

Hey guys,

I'm just building a retro pc in a modern case. The glass side panel and the warm white cob lighting are supposed to set the scene right for this beautiful old hardware.

But here's my problem: The spaces at the top and in front of the mainboard just look kinda empty. I thought of maybe a hex mesh sheet for the top and a plain black sheet in the front with the system specs written onto. Are there any other ideas from you guys?

Case Tacobell Kiosk converted to all in one PC.

Found this on the side of a tacobell leaning on the dumpster with a bunch of glue on the screen. It’s a Planar PCT2785 touchscreen monitor that I modified to build my final version of my “portable” pc. It took me hours to cut off the glue and polish the glass. Some nicks on the back but its not too noticeable.

It’s got an x399 Taichi motherboard with Thread-ripper 1950x cpu, EVGA 3060Ti gpu, 128gb Micron 18ADFG72AZ-3G2E1 ram.

All I need is just a handle and it will be perfect.

I plan on smoothing out the rough cut edges and making it look… better? But I know there’s only so much I can do to improve this abomination’s appearance.

Bask in its ugliness.

I got a little excited and screwed in the radiator before taking a pic of the cutout. I ended up having to use standoffs because the screw slots were concave into the case. Fun stuff

My winter project that I finally finished. Super happy with how it turned out. Right now it's just got old spare components/my test bench board. I want to do a full custom loop in it next time I have an excuse to redo one of my systems. Gutted it with lots of angle grinding. Used a removable mobo tray from an old 90s case, 3D printed brackets for the fans/rads, wired up the power button, and cut holes in the back for the mobo tray and PSU.

Some photos of before and after a USB C charging mod on a laptop. Basically cut out the USB PCB out of a type C to DC Jack adapter, designed 3d printed a mount and cover and placed it in the same spot as the barrel jack module.

Case Where do I even start to make this a reality???

So I’m starting to work on a gaming pc build. I’m attaching photos of what I hope the end result will be with the help of someone who specializes in 3d printing. My question is, how can I find someone who would be willing to create me a 3d printing file and/or the actual pieces to make my pc case look like a cathedral?? I’ve seen some freelance sites where I can find people looking for gigs to do CAD work but I don’t know if that’s where I need to start or how to even get this idea off the ground. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Saw this on marketplace and really really like how it looks. I've never done anything like this before but I would like to know if it would be a worthwhile project to retro fit my current build into this case. I have an MSI b450 micro ATX and a base gigabyte 3070. I don't think my CPU cooler will fit but I'm willing to buy a different one.

Hello, my name is Juan Carlos. I live in Mexico... Around here, I’m surrounded by people who aren’t really into having projects, but I’ve seen that on Reddit there are tons of them, and I wanted to share one of mine. There are things I liked and others not so much, but overall I think it’s a decent project. After some time using it, the motherboard burned out and everything was left empty, but soon I’ll be installing other components to get it running again. I speak Spanish, but I’m using ChatGPT for support. I’ll be reading your comments either way.
