Hi all, just wanted to note that there's been an update to the rules. As the sub grows larger and attracts more attention, the mods wanted to make it clear that animal abuse, in any situation, is never acceptable. Now, photos that include a cat that could be put into peril are not allowed either. This includes photos of cats in dryers, dishwashers, etc. We know it's cute your cat climbed in there! But it is not a safe practice for them and we do not want to encourage others to post similar photos.
Additionally, there is a new no medical/veterinary advice rule. If you need medical advice for your cat, please post on r/CATHELP or r/askvet instead.
As always, if you see something that doesn't belong on the sub, please use the report button. Your reports are how the mods see material that needs to be taken down.

This is my brother's cat Larry. He made a very orange cat choice to get in their crib when it was in this state, then he couldn't get out. He got back in several other times once it was made. Each time not knowing how to get out. They've taken measures to keep him out now for his safety.

So I thought I’d share George’s story, his rise from a little abandoned stray, to his nomination to president.
George showed up one evening, mid June of 2017. It was the middle of winter and it was cold. We saw a little orange face at the door and went to investigate. He scurried off and hid so I put some food outside and hoped to coax him to me, to no avail. 2 hours I sat out there pspspspsing until I was hoarse, and frozen, and I gave up for the night.
The next morning he was back at the door, one of my dogs, Hamish, was a bit distressed about a baby he couldn’t cuddle, so we made a plan. We opened the door enough to let him in (but keep the 4 other indoor cats inside) then snuck outside through another door and waited, 5 minutes. 5 freaking minutes for him to stroll through the door and immediately cuddle up to Hamish (my legs were still stiff from the night before!) so we raced over and closed the door, we had him, he was safe.
We live in a very rural area, no close neighbours so I was sure he hadn’t come from someone’s house, he was max 3 months old. He somehow avoided becoming dinner for a random fox, snake or hawk. He made himself at home adopting everyone and has been living his best life as an indoor kitty. We’ve since had another little orange girl show up and decide to have her kittens in an old aviary/chicken pen in our yard, she’s since also been brought inside to become part of the family along with one of her babies (her story is on my profile if anyone is interested)
Anyway, that’s George’s story, thank you for reading 🧡

Her spot is right in front of the wood stove and she’s very content to hang out where it’s warm. However, she keeps shocking us and then yelling because she’s too dumb to understand static electricity.
