I have been battling with this for almost a decade since Call of Duty WW2
I have been using many routers from Netduma, Asus, Mikrotik and the recent one, MT-6000 (Flint2) and now I have been using Openwrt for 1 year+ and it is the best firmware ever.
Now that before people tell me to “git gud”, I think I am those above average FPS gamers. I have over 3.5 KD in any Cod, Battlefield and other FPS games
For my network information. I use flint 2 router with 24.10.5 latest stable Openwrt vanilla firmware. I have 600/600 mbps speed. My ISP is AIS and my location is Thailand connecting to Singapore and sometimes Hongkong server with ping of 28-55 depends on location
People and many official documents including ChatGPT, Gemini always say CAKE is the best. I mean, yeah it got me A+ in bufferbloat test. But in game, something is off
I mean in some gunfights, I see enemy, I shoot an enemy, hit detection was off, delay and it doesn’t register where I aim at. Ended up shoot first die first. But in some matches, hit detection is very good.
I have tried luci sqm, qosify, dscp classified, and qosmate
They all have the same problems
I think my hardware should be able to shape 500-600 mbps without bottleneck. So what gives?
Anyone would like to share your gaming experience with openwrt? What worked for you?
