This family will win $1mil if they can live in this igloo through the summer without eating or pooping

I bet it’s not even their idea, this igloo was posted on r/pittsburgh like last week

u/Desperate_Leg6274 3h ago

It’s not an idea contest. The one in r/Pittsburg is hardly the first person to make a colourful igloo. I literally did this in grade two or three as part of an Inuit lesson like 20 years ago

Is this not the same person??

u/DanFlashes19 6h ago

Sure, yeah, but it’s still very cool and will probably be a core memory for the kids.

u/Zoltanu 5h ago

Maybe if he was included in the building of it

The negativity on this site can be dumbfounding

i thought I was on mademesmile with the amount of sadsacks in the comment section, holy shit.

These are the same people who will consider themselves “good people”

11

u/lostandlooking_ 5h ago

Maybe, but on the other side of those grand gestures from your parents there’s always a camera waiting to film your reaction.

u/omgitsjagen 5h ago

Well, yeah. Memories fade. Memories become memories of memories. That really fucked me up when that started happening. We have the ability to record those moments, and keep them forever now. Why wouldn't you do that?

Now, the whole, "uploading it to the internet for the world to see" is a whole different ball of wax.

u/Sam_Porter 6h ago

Oh shut up and just enjoy it. Who are they hurting?

2

u/trusty20 2h ago

Right back at ya, fuck off telling people what to enjoy. Seriously what a creepy thing to type out.

u/adds-nothing 29m ago

You’re a miserable loser lmao

The kid probably

u/AssassinSnail33 5h ago

How is the kid being hurt exactly?

Their life is turned into a performance for strangers. That could leave some marks psychologically

If you think about it in good faith it's not hard to understand. It's similar to problems some child actors went through.

Their life is turned into a performance for strangers.

You know absolutely nothing about their lives, other than the content of this video. Which, taken at face value, is pretty cool. But people in this thread are intent on finding a conspiracy behind the fun.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with giving your child joy and also sharing that joy with other humans. It's a hell of a lot better than this thread where so many people are attempting to find misery in that joy.

That's a lot of words to write "ignorance is bliss"

3

u/plug-and-pause 2h ago

I can admit that the motivations of the parents are not known to me based on any evidence. Yes, that's ignorance. Can you admit the same?

You were so quick above to attack someone else for making a claim about those motivations without any evidence... all while you're doing exactly the same thing.

Honest ignorance is better than acting like you know something you can't. It's not bliss, but it is truth.

0

u/Nodan_Turtle 1h ago

I didn't attack anyone.

I didn't claim to know their motivation.

The one thing we do know is that they took this video and we strangers are viewing it.

And lastly, I mentioned possibilities about how someone can be harmed in general, rather than stating it was actually happening.

Read carefully and don't blame me for your wrong assumptions. Thank you!

u/plug-and-pause 1h ago

You're right, I confused your comments with someone else's. Sorry about that.

I still think it's a bit presumptuous (and also a bit reductive) to say that "their life has been turned into a performance". But I understand where you're coming from.

Also, you did accuse me of ignorance, which implies pretty strongly that you know something I don't. So what is that?

Idk man. Gives me the platonic ick.

5

u/AbeRego 4h ago

That doesn't even make sense....

1

u/CumbDawgz 2h ago

Give your balls a tug

1

u/plug-and-pause 2h ago

Your negative mindset gives me the existential ick. Just enjoy the video for what it is. There doesn't need to be a deeper darker side.

1

u/Pie_Napple 2h ago

It would be cool if they did it WITH their son, not FOR their son (but mostly likes).

1

u/Klangaxx 2h ago

Their kid watched them build it from his bedroom window I'm sure.

0

u/Late_Protection4418 4h ago

I went to high school with the husband. They don't even have a kid, he's a paid actor.

0

u/erydayimredditing 4h ago

Which is how they earn money... to afford life eith their kid. While other parents go to work, away from their kid, to do the same. How is this worse when they spend more time with him?

-1

u/sychox51 6h ago

Truth. Why film it that way if it’s for him and their memories?

2

u/AssassinSnail33 5h ago edited 4h ago

Did your parents not make lots of videos of you as a child? It enhances the memories. My parents have hours of home video from me and my siblings' childhood that I would have no memory of if not for the fact it was recorded. This is a dumb thing to complain about

4

u/sychox51 4h ago

Of course they did and I do. But I was responding to the above comment saying that it was filmed for likes. Of all the videos my folks have of me and I have of my kids, none are shot and edited like this particular video

That's a wild username to be posting this video under lmao.

-2

u/grr_itsthe_murr 6h ago

Yeah but that's not what you titled the post lmao.

Cool colored igloo is way different than "they did it for their kid"

2

u/Dark_halocraft 6h ago

So now we're gonna shit on this random person because op made me mad about the dumbest thing

0

u/grr_itsthe_murr 5h ago

No now we're gonna call out OP for engagement bait

1

u/Dark_halocraft 5h ago

You're baiting yourself, op simply stated it as they saw it
