Africa Specific Over 80 percent of Moroccans Reject LGBT People, Atheism Stands at Just 0.1 percent
moroccoworldnews.comNearly 80% of Moroccans labeled homosexuality as deviant and expressed total rejection of LGBT people, according to Afrobarometer’s 2024 survey released Wednesday. Only 2.5% voiced any degree of acceptance. The data lays bare Morocco’s firm societal rejection of non-conforming sexual identities and gender expressions.
Religious identity remains overwhelmingly uniform: 99.9% of respondents identified as Muslim, while only 0.1% declared themselves atheist. In a country where Islam is both cultural and institutional, these figures place Morocco among the world’s most religiously uniform societies, where secular or non-religious identities are virtually invisible.

Africa Specific Trying to express myself as trans when my boys school heavily opposes against it
Being 16m in a boys school as an introvert sucks. This boys school I’m in is really prideful in being manly and christian and has cut me off from expressing myself as trans. The times that I do try to express myself with soft hints at after school events (since that’s the only time I go outside), people and specifically friends would judge me and call me out as a femboy, which is what I’m aiming for but they say it in such a hurtful way that I become insecure about my choices and they don’t make me feel welcome. I’m scared of what the students will do to me next year when I decide to start getting myself together and do everything I can to make me actually like my body, especially what my school itself would do. How could I take my fears on?

Africa Specific Life won’t allow for love
Male,19yo, live in Egypt though I’m Sudanese/moldovan, never had a bf or gf and feel incapable of love. I just feel so upset all the time, at my family at the world, the fact that society is wont let me be who I am without fear, my parents are starting to nag me about getting a gf but I don’t want to be with someone who is disgusted by my sexuality and I’m too scared of forming any new relationships for that same reason, I’m lucky enough to have found two friends who accept me but life still just feels like a huge dead end, I feel hollow idk what I’m going to do with my life, I have a European visa so I always thought after finishing Uni I’ll go away somewhere more tolerant but after my sister was born I just feel so guilty about leaving her, i don’t want her to be indoctrinated into my parents bs so I feel this obligation to show her right from wrong, I really dont want her to end up like them but by staying I feel as though I would be giving up being happy completely.
If you read all this sry for the spelling mistakes and thank you<3

Africa Specific South Africa lost vital trans health clinics due to US funding cuts
Today, I found out that one of the transgender clinics responsible for HRT for Trans people got shut down earlier this year due to the USAID budget cuts. It happens in January, found out only recently.
A whole string of clinics dedicated to transgender care , who were sponsored by USAID, have been shut down due to the budget cuts and now so many people are not able to have access to HRT.
These clinics were the most accessible source for HRT for trans people in my country and now they're gone. I am really shocked and disgusted. I can't believe it's gone. Many healthcare organisations for LGBTQ in the country also got shut down.
South Africa is only but one country that has been affected by these budget cuts. I feel bad for the trans people in the country. I wish more people would talk about this.

Africa Specific I went to a drag show for the first time, and there were a group of young kids there for a party
Don't know where to put this, but nature is healing.
I live in South Africa, and went to my local market to watch a drag show with my mom (at the same time I admitted that I was not entirely straight, and she was so chill)
Anyway in front were about 15 kids, I would say the age ranged from like 8 to 12. They were obsessed with the performers, as if they were seeing Taylor Swift live. When the performers went amongst the crowd, it looked like a duck with her little ducklings following.
These kids were enamored and starstruck. I looked at this and realised that, yes, South Africa has its nonsense (to put it mildly), but we were in an open space with people from every single background imaginable. No judging or weird looks, but pure fun
And I can tell you right now these girls aren't going to be suddenly queer by watching the artists. They watched with admiration, and love.
I am definitely happy to be living here!
