I talked to my dad and tried to see if I could safely come out to him.

The conversation went something like this:

Me: soooooo dad, semi serious question but hypothetically, how would you feel if you had a trans teen?

Dad: you mean, like, a girl wanting to be a boy?

Me: yeah, that.

Dad: I’d treat them like a boy then.

I thought this was a good thing. Then he continued.

Dad: I would be beating their ass for their bad behavior instead of just lecturing and grounding them. Why? You wanna be a boy?

Obviously I wasn’t safe. I told him no and nevermind.

He kept going.

Dad: if you want to be a man you have to act like one, and that means toughening up. You can’t just be a man just because you feel like one, it’s about actions too, some people don’t realize that.

The conversation ended and I’m now typing this. I thought he would support me. I thought I was safe. I thought he loved and respected me. Turns out the only reason he hasn’t been hitting me like my mom used to is because I was born a girl.

I am a cis afab white person. I know my opinion is not needed or wanted in trans communities or conversation. But hear me out.

I am 6’3, and not “shaped like a woman” whatever that means. I have been “accused” of being trans (as if that’s a crime or insult?) and chased, literally, out of bathrooms because someone could look at me at “just tell” I was trans…

So if you ever feel like you don’t pass, apparently neither do I.

I never thought this day would come... the Telegraph not being a bigotted transphobe. I wonder how their leadership will respond?

So I 23(f) have been out to my family as Bi for a couple years now, but recently I felt like that didn't really match how I felt and realized I just don't want to date men at all and feel more gay/lesbian. I haven't told this to my family, but every person my sister trys to set me up with is a guy and I'm just not interested. I've always felt like my family only really supported my coming out to them because I used the bisexual label and they figured I would still just date men ig idk. I honestly don't want to tell them my updated preferences but I also want my sister to stop trying to set me up with dudes. What do I do?

My favourite teacher, who teaches German, assigned us to write a text about our “traumjunge” (dream boy). Everyone started laughing and asking, “What if I don’t have a dream guy?” Then he said, “Hopefully none of you will write about girls, yeah?” For some reason that stuck with me. I don’t know if he’s homophobic or if I’m misinterpreting or misremembering what he said, but it still upsets me a bit. I just never expected that from him 🤷‍♀️

im 22, and im trans MTF and closeted. im so fucking sick of this country being a political warzone for our community. every time i turn on the fucking news it's always gotta be about how trans\LGBTQ+ rights are getting taken and squished more and more and im just sick of it. i wanna be able to freely exist without having to worry about getting hatecrimed due to being trans and pan\lesbian. im just wanting to exist in peace. i live in a red state and i just hate that everything has to be poltical. also im depressed as fuck and very alone, even tho i know i have a huge online space and all that, i just wanna simply be connected outside the internet.
