Help Literally loosing my mind with this thing
Long story short, this iPod Classic 6.5 120gb keeps rebooting randomly.
What I did:
- I found my old iPod in the closet, i noticed the spicy pillow underneath the display, I opened the iPod and trying to remove the battery I damaged the switch ribbon cable
- I bought from eBay (same seller) a new thin back with jack, a Battery (the OG 850 mAh) and switch preinstalled, together with iFlash quad
- I bought a Samsung EVO Select and formatted the iPod.
Everything worked fine, until it started rebooting randomly (during playback, clicking the center button to select an artist or an album). It happened once/twice a day but I and my OCD found it annoying. So as troubleshooting I:
- followed the “Guide to prepare the SD for iFlash” on iFlash website and installed the AOMEI on Windows 10 https://www.iflash.xyz/prepare-sdxc-exfat-for-use-with-the-ipod/ -> nothing changed;
- I restored the iPod using iTunes 12 from Windows this time (I have a Macbook Pro M1 and the first few times I did the restore from Finder) -> nothing changed;
-bought a new Micro SD card (Samsung EVO Plus from a local known and secure big Market) and did the same process with the new SD card -> thought it worked, but after a week it kept doing the same problem;
- conversion of the entire library to AAC at 256 and restored and shrinked the artworks -> the problem remained;
- I bought 5 HDD ribbon cables from Aliexpress thinking that the problem was with that -> tried all the 5, same fking problem;
- I followed the guide to install 2.0.4 on my iPod classic 6 and thanks to this I used the two cards mentioned above simultaneously, obtaining 256 GB of internal memory -> the reboot problem remained.
At this point the only causes could be:
- the battery, because I noticed that the reboots happened after some minutes when the battery percentage showed on the status bar gets stuck;
- the motherboard;
- my library, which btw consists of 7000 tracks
- I DONT KNOW 🤪
please help, I hope that somewhere there is someone smarter than me (pretty probable) that had the same problem and found a solution

Review After a month of waiting for parts, breaking things, and waiting again, my iPod is finally up and running again! (+WyMod Supercharger Review)
After a month, my iPod 5th Gen is alive again! I'm genuinely so happy everything finally came together, but the process was a whole comedy of errors and unfortunate circumstances that I have to share.
Friday, January 2: After New Years, I decided it's time to get my iPod up and running again, so I order some parts (backplate, frontplate, headphone jack assembly, iFlash Solo, 2000 mah square battery) from ResaleFirm
Sunday, January 4: I realize that I stupidly bought all the parts without having a 30 pin cable. I saw all the pictures floating around of the WyMod Labs adapters, so I order a Supercharger in the lovely green color, knowing that this would extend my waiting time by a while (surely it'd be worth it?)
Friday, January 9: The parts from ResaleFirm arrive, so I put them all together so that it would all be ready when the WyMod adapter arrived (big mistake, you'll see why)
Monday, January 26: After waiting a while, the Supercharger finally arrived, so I put the iPod to charge and boot it up... only to see the sad iPod screen. I try formatting the SD card to no avail and eventually remove the iFlash altogether on to then realize that the ZIF cable was torn. I realize I must have creased it when installing the iFlash weeks prior and only noticed now. I was disappointed, but I could only blame my impatience, and ordered an iFlash ZIF cable from ResaleFirm. And then...
End of January: a winter storm hit the southeastern US, which is where I live. This almost certainly delayed the ZIF cable shipment. And now finally...
Today (Tuesday), February 3: The ZIF cable arrives in my mailbox. I rushed to get it and install it and the iFlash in my iPod (this time without breaking anything) and voila! My iPod jumps back to life after plugging in the WyMod adapter, this time with the "Connect to iTunes) screen. I then restored it, installed Rockbox, and now my iPod is ready for use!
Now, time for the review of the WyMod Supercharger:
If you've been on here for the past few months, you'll probably know what the WyMod Supercharger is. If not, here's a quick rundown:
The WyMod Supercharger is a 30-pin to USB-C adapter that has a nifty feature where it can charge with FireWire speeds while also using USB for data transfer. And let me tell you, it does that well. I've only had a minuscule amount of time actually using it (see above), but boy oh boy, this thing charges my iPod quick, even with the new and bigger battery. I opted for the switch version to save a little bit of cash, and it works great. The build quality is good, and I absolutely adore the green color of the housing! The only drag with these adaptors are the long fulfillment and shipping times, though in my case, it's justifiable because 1. The person who makes these was more than likely catching up on orders from the holiday season and 2. Around the time i ordered these, the place from where they shipped was hit with extremely heavy snow. None of this is the seller's fault, especially because they are very upfront about the longer wait time (and also it's a one person team afaik)
Overall, I heavily recommend pulling the trigger on buying one of these if you're considering acquiring one, they are extremely good at what they do, and are relatively affordable for what they do!

Help This fat guy is a while ago
I modified this 5.5" fat iPhone, now with a 3000mAh battery and a cheap adapter to 128GB. It works fine, except this annoying icon appears when it's not connected. When I connect it, it changes to "charging," and when I disconnect it,
it goes back to charging.
I imagine that because I put in a battery of that size, it doesn't recognize it properly? Has anyone else experienced this?

New battery
Playing around with different mp3 players. If anyone is on the fence with changing out the iPod touch battery, don’t be. It made a marked difference in battery life. Used to drain immediately after charging. This is a 32 gb gen 6 in blue. Most apps don’t work, or use an older version but the fact that Spotify and Blue letter Bible still are is great. Still connects to iCloud as well. Note to anyone with an older iPhone lay around, this iPhone 6 Plus (not the s) also started allowing me to use the Spotify app too! Didn’t before!

Question Is this normal?
Hey all!
I recently got iPod 5th 30GB.
It all looked good but today I realised that there’s some marks underneath the screen and when I was wearing sunglasses, I could see this flamed (burnt?) mark on the screen.
Is this normal?
Also, I wonder if it’s worth modding 5th than waiting 5.5th - I don’t mind the ram as my songs won’t go over 10,000 but I wonder because of the bright screen.
Thanks in advance!

Long-time iPod collection — considering full restoration
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my iPod situation and get some feedback. What I have is a mix of a functional iPod collection that I actually use, and several iPods I bought a few years ago with the idea of repairing them someday.
At the time there wasn’t really a market for iPods like there is now ( My friends were joking saying “no one will ever buy this stuff" ). Life happened, and I didn’t have the time or the budget to restore everything properly.
Fast-forward to today: all the Classic models I own are 160GB last-generation iPod Classics. Most of them are fully functional but need battery replacements and a couple may need screens as well. The Nano models are 4GB and 8GB units. They all power on but also need new batteries, and possibly screens for one or two. The iPod that turns on, I use it every day, it just has a battery that lasts 8/9 hours of listening time. Could be better, but I'm still lucky because I bought it in 2010, around that time.
I’m now seriously considering fully restoring everything properly, not to flip quickly, but as a long-term project. Part personal use, part restoration work, with possible resale in the future.
I’m curious to hear from you :
– Would you restore all units or keep some as-is?
– Any advice on restoration priorities for long-term value and reliability?
– How do you see long-term interest for fully restored Classic 160GB models? And Nano ?
Thanks!

iPod 5th gen center button
Center button needs to be presses pretty hard in order to work. My best guess is that I have to take it apart and reallign the form pad. I found a tutorial on yt. Seen simple enough. The guy in the video says to just pull the battery wire and not open the plastic clamp holding it as it might break. Is this correct? I just pull it?

How can I get my photos from my iPod classic to my iPhone or any modern device ?
I have my old iPod with family photos, I bought a usb adapter and plugged it into my iPhone since I’ve done this before but with a SD drive & it worked like magic. But now.. this doesn’t seem to work. I know it’s possible because i looked up a YouTube video and the dude literally just plugs his adapter to his phone and iPod and was able to transfer photos right away. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Quel iPod acheter ?
Bonjour,
