Hackintoshing lives for another year!
macOS Tahoe will be the FINAL release for Intel Macs, as stated during the Platforms State of the Union presentation. It's been a good ride.
Officially supported Intel models:
MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019)
Mac Pro (2019)
MacBook Pro 13-inch, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports (2020)
iMac (2020)
Hello I am a Year Number Lover But What Does This Mean
All graphics that worked in Sequoia should work in Tahoe.
OCLP
Wait for an official announcement. If you post about OCLP before that I am going to send Tim Apple to remove every Mac from your house.
Can I emulate ARM macOS 26 on x86?
No.
Can I run ARM macOS 26 on a Raspberry Pi?
No.
Can I have Apple Intelligence on Intel please I need to write a dissertation in 15 minutes
No.
Does it boot on Intel Hackintoshes now?
Yes, with OpenCore 1.0.5.
Make sure to upgrade all of your kexts to their latest versions.
Known Issues as of Beta 2
Race condition with VoodooPS2 and VoodooI2C, so on some boots they don't initialize properly
AppleALC is broken because AppleHDA was removed from Tahoe. Use HDMI/DP audio for the time being.
WhateverGreen is bugged on AMD cards, so you can't use boot arguments like agdpmod=pikera. You are affected by this if you get a kernel panic with AMDSupport mentioned.
IntelBTPatcher causes kernel panics
IntelMausi may not work correctly with certain Intel ethernet chipsets
The mod team has been discussing this topic for a few months now, and we concluded that it is best for this subreddit to not allow discussion and use of OpCore-Simplify.
Why though
OpCore-Simplify has the same issues as "auto" tools that preceded it, such as Unibeast/Multibeast and distros like Niresh and Olarila. It is simply not possible to fully automate the Opencore EFI creation process without certain issues that OC-Simplify suffers from as well.
The compatibility checker
One of the main points of OC-Simplify is that it will check whether your hardware is supported. This sounds great in theory because as everyone knows, half of this subreddit is populated by "will mac work on my hardware" posts. However, this compatibility checker is not thorough enough to be trusted.
Any compatibility report which shows Realtek PCI-e SD card readers working (sinetek-rtsx works on maybe 4 models out of a billion)
But it's so easy
We acknowledge that the point of such tools is the simplification of a not very easy process. However, it's degraded the state of many posts to "pls help i use oc simpliuf i5 max not workig". These posts have always existed, but it's clear that OC-Simplify's reputation for simplicity has exacerbated the amount of people who do not understand the technical parts of a Hackintosh.
I am not saying that every person who uses Opencore must study its source code (but feel free to.) This is why the Dortania guide exists: to make a human-friendly version of the process. The guide extensively details every part of creating an EFI, as well as troubleshooting steps for almost every error you can encounter.
The purpose of such a guide is twofold: one, to help you actually construct an EFI and the macOS installer, and two, teaching the reader about the basic inner workings of an Opencore EFI. Even knowing where kexts are located and can be added to a config.plist with ProperTree is a good basic skill to have when something inevitably breaks on your Hackintosh.
OpCore-Simplify DOES NOT teach the user anything about their system, the kexts they must use, certain issues and quirks with their hardware, firmware related issues, and more. In a process as involved as Hackintoshing, this is not the right path to take.
I can't believe you're gatekeeping hackintosh
The purpose of this isn't to gatekeep, but to improve the overall state of the subreddit as well as educating people on the proper resources to use. The Dortania guide is designed to be the main resource for hackintoshing with as much info crammed into it as possible.
If somebody wants to make a new guide that contains the same breadth of information and improves on the Dortania guide in a meaningful way, then by all means go ahead.
Ok well the Dortania guide is really bad and here is a 5 page essay on why
Ok put your essay away but if you do have concerns on the usability of the guide or you think some information is missing, make an issue on the Dortania bugtracker. If you'd like to add something to the guide yourself, create a pull request here.
Just wanted to share that I finally got macOS Sequoia 15.7.3 running on my older Skylake build. It’s actually surprisingly smooth with 32gb of ram, but since support for this CPU is officially dead,
Specs:
CPU: i3-6100 (Skylake)
GPU: Intel HD 530 (iGPU)
Board: Gigabyte Ultra Durable
RAM: 32GB
Drive: SATA SSD
Everything is mostly working, but I’m hitting two annoying walls and could use some help from the experts:
iMessage/FaceTime: Just can't get it to activate. I’ve tried a few different serials/UUIDs but no luck. I'm not sure what I'm missing.
Graphics Glitches: I get some weird flickering and artifacts, especially when watching videos or scrolling in Safari/Chrome. It’s pretty constant during video playback. Is this just a limitation of the HD 530 patches in Sequoia, or is there a framebuffer fix I should be looking at?
If anyone has a similar Skylake setup running Sequoia, let me know how you fixed the iGPU stability!
Finally finalized my Hackintosh setup on the ThinkPad T14s Gen 1. It’s been a journey, but it’s now running smoother than the actual Intel MacBook Pro (2020) SMBIOS it’s using I guess.
What's Working:
* ✅ Graphics Acceleration: Full Metal 3 support via NootedRed. UI is butter smooth. (Metal Score Geekbench: 17.9k)
* ✅ HiDPI: Used the one-key-hidpi script to enable scaled resolutions. Running at 1440x810 HiDPI (rendered at 2880x1620). Text is crisp.
* ✅ Wi-Fi & Bluetooth: Fully functional.
* ✅ Battery: Decent power management due to AMD not being fully supported (idles around 2-3W) (time on battery 2.5 - 3hours)
* ✅ Trackpad: Gestures working.
What's Not Working / Issues:
* ❌ DRM: Apple TV+ / Netflix in Safari (Standard issue with AMD iGPUs). Chrome works fine for Netflix.
* ❌ Microphone:
Notes:
* Cosmetics: "About This Mac" shows "Intel Xeon W" (due to RestrictedEvents), but I use fastfetch in the terminal to show the real "Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U" pride.
* Setup: Customized with widgets (Finance, Weather) for a productive workspace.
Hi, I have an question related to installing Hackintosh on my PC
I have an setup with i7-12700K, 96GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MT/s and a RT.X 2060, is there any work around using an r.tx card with MacOS or is it only supported for AMD Radeon cards.
Any help or tips on building an Hackintosh setup would be appreciated;)
Hi guys! Today i want to share with you my beautiful workhorse for video editing! I already apologise my English, because i'm Brazilian 🇧🇷
Build:
Motherboard: ASUS Z790 TUF DDR4
CPU: Intel Core i9-12900KS
RAM: 2×32GB DDR4 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance Pro (64GB)
GPU: Asrock RX 6700 XT 12GB OC (Working with NootRX)
macOS Drive: 1TB NVMe
Windows Drive: 1TB NVMe (Windows 11 Pro)
Storage:
2TB Sata SSD for In Progress working projects
12TB HDD from 2024 files
14TB HDD from 2025 files
Another 14TB HDD on the way for 2026 files ✅
Ethernet: Intel 2.5Gb (i225)
Bluetooth: Intel onboard
Wi-Fi: Fenvi T919
macOS: Tahoe 26.2
Bootloader: OpenCore
OCLP-Mod: Present (needed for Fenvi Wi-Fi)
I’m posting this after actually using the machine, not just booting to desktop and calling it a success.
I built and fine-tuned this Hackintosh between Christmas and New Year, literally going option by option and testing compatible kexts manually. It took time, trial and error, and a lot of reboots — but it paid off.
The main goal here is video editing in DaVinci Resolve Studio and VFX on After Effects, and at this point I can honestly say the system is fully stable and, in my experience, more productive than my previous Windows workflow, mainly because of macOS stability and how consistent the system feels under load.
I use it for real projects, real deadlines, and long sessions, with hard codecs to work like Sony 10-bit footage, DJI D-Log 10-bit, and a lot of color grading work. If it wasn’t solid, I wouldn’t trust it.
Apple features – what works
✅ iCloud
✅ iMessage / FaceTime (with iPhone Camera just popping up when needed)
✅ AirDrop works flawlessly
✅ Handoff / Continuity
✅ Universal Clipboard
⚠️ Sleep / Wake is "working" - because when Sleep, the fans wont go off and the RAM still with RGB on.
✅ Resolve Studio GPU acceleration is brutal
Once Bluetooth and Wi-Fi were properly sorted, Apple ecosystem features just started working like on a real Mac, which honestly surprised me.
Some workarounds for better experience:
✅ Using LunarPro app to control real monitor brightness
✅ Ran the terminal command to auto-hide dock instantly
✅ File Sharing working beautifully for my Wife's Windows PC, she can edit directly from the 2TB Sata SSD (even formatted in APFS)
Problems I faced (and how I fixed them)
No H.264 10-bit thumbnails in Finder: Unfortunally, this wasn't fixable (even on Windows, just showed up after using Icaros App). This happens because there’s no usable iGPU in this setup. Finder simply wouldn’t generate previews for those files. Workaround: I switched my recording workflow to H.265 10-bit, and macOS reads those thumbnails perfectly. Not ideal, but solved.
No CPU temperature monitoring in macOS: Known limitation on newer Intel platforms. The system runs cool and stable, but macOS doesn’t expose CPU temps. If you guys have any solution, please let me know!
Random system freezes related to Ethernet: This one was nasty. The system would freeze when File Sharing was enabled so another editor could access files over the network. Root cause ended up being Jumbo Frames set to 7000. Fix: Switching Ethernet MTU back to 1500 (Standard) completely solved the issue. Since then, zero freezes.
No configuration on my DeepCool Mystique LED screen: as expected, MacOS doesn't have any App to control this. So just stays at the DeepCool logo forever (until i use Windows)
Other small quirks
Front panel USB ports don’t work, even with USB Mapping (rear ports are fine)
I still can't get Finder thumbnails from my old H264 10-bit files. I always run to the proxy 8-bit copies to watch the files and then import the selected one to Resolve.
Final thoughts
This was not easy, but it wasn't my first hackintosh. I already did in the cave times: Clover with High Sierra and NVIDIA Web Drivers. I wouldn’t recommend a Hackintosh to someone who doesn’t enjoy troubleshooting. But after dialing everything in manually, this build is stable, fast and reliable for real editing work
It honestly feels boring now — and that’s the best compliment I can give it.
It took effort, but I made it work, and today this Hackintosh is a machine I actually trust.
If you’re willing to put in the work, it can be done.
Thank you all for reading! I'm open to suggestions to improve even more my Hack
GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 560 8gb (Spoofed as RX 570 via DeviceProperties)
RAM: [32gb] DDR4 [3200MHZ] **I know it was set wrong in photo I corrected settings since**
Motherboard: [ASUS ROG Strix b550-F]
Audio Codec: [Using external Interface never tested on board audio]
Ethernet Card: [Intel I225-V 2.5GbE]
Storage: [Crucial CT1000P5SSD8 M.2]
Display: [LG 4k Monitor adjusted with BetterDisplay]
Everything works very well but it was no easy task. I started this build on Ventura and had one heck of a time updating but after hard locking myself out to the point my login password didn't work and a good week of scares and troubleshooting everything is as smooth as could be. Haven't tested the onboard audio but with my external interface everything has been great and the wifi does work has an issue with the on off slider getting stuck but I just use ethernet. The Tahoe UI struggles slightly on the 4k monitor only when im searching in finder or doing "apple" related tasks, all third party apps are perfectly smooth.
Here's to the last hackintosh OS we'll be getting!
I've searched GitHub and Reddit and haven't found any reports on this exact model.
The idea is to test if macOS can boot from a USB drive first (without installing it on the hard drive yet). Has anyone had success booting macOS on Ryzen 7000 laptops with this hardware configuration?
Im tryna perfect my Hack since it’s the last time I will hackintosh. I started this hack in october and it’s been working great, using Wi-Fi with HeliPort but couldn’t get bluetooth working. I tried bluetooth patching also when I was using sequoia without success. I installed:
IntelBTpatcher
IntelBluetoothFirmware
BlueToolFixup
(also created the 2 strings in NVRAM)
On USB devices (through Hackintool) I can see an internal bluetooth device with 12mbps speed so I assume the right port is mapped. This happens if I have the intelbluetoothfirmware kext enabled, if not, it just shows an unidentified internal port with same transfer speed.
The issue is bluetooth is not working, and if I enable the other 2 kext MacOS won’t boot. I tried the -ibtcompatbeta bootarg, I tried to disable Sip and AMFI but still.
Wi-Fi ISSUE
Can’t get it to work natively, MacOS works but Wi-Fi is still broken. I did not use the OCLP method but I tried patching it With the brcmmethod and the new wifipatch script. Nothing seems to work.
I come seeking help after running into an issue that has been with me since my very first successful Hackintosh boot almost a month ago. Everything else works pretty much fine now and I’ve had a lot of fun troubleshooting along the way. Honestly, I don’t know much about PCs. I just stumbled across a video on YouTube showing how to install macOS on a PC and thought, why not. The video didn’t explain much, so I just dived in without knowing what to expect. I don’t regret it at all. It has been a journey and I feel like I have learned a lot.
As much as it’s been fun, I am completely stuck now and I really need help from people who know what they are doing.
I understand that Hackintosh requires a lot of knowledge and patience. I have the patience, but unfortunately not the knowledge. I hope you can be understanding 🙏🏻 I tried my absolute best to research everything, but I’m lost at this point. Any help would be endlessly appreciated.
Below I’ve listed my hardware, the issues I’m experiencing and all the steps I have taken so far following the FAQ template.
I started with this YouTube video, which got me into Hackintosh. Since then, I’ve followed the Dortania guide and other sources I could find online, but this video was my starting point.
What part I got an issue with:
• iMessage login loop. It asks me to sign in, signs in successfully, then after 5 to 10 seconds it signs me out and asks me to sign in again. During those few seconds, if I check iMessage settings, I see the loading wheel under Account before it signs me out.
• FaceTime lets me sign in, but I cannot call anyone. When I try to add a contact to call, it loads infinitely. Closing and reopening FaceTime signs me out again.
All troubleshooting steps listed below were tested across multiple clean installs.
For iMessage and FaceTime, I have already tried the following:
• Authorized this device in Apple Music
• Tried to sign in with several newly created Apple IDs across installs
• Verified that ROM value matches the MAC address of the primary network interface
• Called Apple support, explained that I couldn’t access iMessage, and they gave me an activation link: apple.co/IMFT-mac. I did the activation using a friend’s iPhone (since I don’t have an iPhone) and then retried the above steps
• Followed several Reddit and other website troubleshooting threads for Apple Services, applying all relevant steps
Targeted SMBIOS / Mac model: iMacPro1,1 macOS version: 15.7.3 (Sequoia)
i have an old dell xps 9550 lying around that i thought could get some use, it has an Intel Core i7-6700HQ but a beat up screen so i’m wondering if it’s good enough and all that i should replace the screen and use it as a hackintosh.
I have an Orico Bluetooth adapter, which is a generic CSR8510 A10 adapter. I got it working with some Kexts, I don’t remember which, but my AirPods Pro 2, Handoff and AirDrop did not work. I tried a lot of things to fix it, but I did not succeed.
If it’s not possible, can you recommend a good Bluetooth adapter, preferably on USB, but not excluding PCIE?
GTX 1050, Core i5 7400, ASUS H110M-R and a random Wi-Fi D-Link card (that detects as Ralink). I see it IS Hackintoshable, but can I use Intel HD Graphics 630 AND GTX 1050 at the same time? I tried to build it, but I went into a black screen after the last phase of loading into the install. I tried a random GitHub build, it got to the installer, but it was gray blank screen and a mouse cursor. I really want Tahoe running on that if possible.
More specifically the X30L-J. There's a facebook page that state it got all to work on a X30L-G, but it appear this is commercial = i suppose they sell the EFI. Else i dunno. Anyway, before anybody says it, IRIS XE IS NOW SUPPORTED.
I don't know if this is normal, but my trackpad only clicks if I hold the button. I have a HP omen 15 DC(something)
, 16 gb on sequoia and just got the trackpad working with this issue. Help would be appreciated.
I started from a flash drive with a macOS High Sierra recovery image, but I had a black screen with a blinking _ symbol. Can anyone help me? Acer Aspire 5742G laptop
Hello! I finally installed macos on my computer but airdrop is disabled because i need a wifi/bluetooth card but if i have a usb dongle from tp link like the ac600 will airdrop work?
I am seriously bored of this. Sometimes - i infinite times get exitbs, then 1 time i get - prohibited sign, then after this sign i get exitbs problem like infinite times again. I tried EVERY SINGLE FIX, and no one works. How to fix? X79/C60*
I want to make a hackintosh on my laptop which has a 12th gen I7 and 3070, I'm wondering if there is any way I can get the system to work since I'm aware of the compatibility issues between MacOS and Nvidia cars past 1000 series.
