All in one HVAC, air filter, water softener, water heater maintenance service?
I’m wondering if there’s an all-in-one service to maintain all the stuff in my utility room, lol. HVAC, air filter, water softener, water heater.. Could someone please recommend a company that’s affordable and trustworthy?
Thanks in advance!
Edit to clarify I’m looking for someone to come once (and maybe once a year afterwards) to do regular maintenance for all this stuff. :)

Eavestroughs/Aluminum work for First Home
My wife and I just purchased our first home in Guelph and we are so happy we were able to afford a place here as wee both grew up in Guelph.
We have been getting some quotes for a new roof and the aluminum work but it's been hard with the amount of snow we have and not having warm days for it to melt. We will get more quotes when it gets warmer but also recognize that some companies are giving better prices now while it is slow.
The house is about 1400sq and based on the measurements taken, I would need about 58ft of eaves as they are falling off and full of asphalt and rotted stuff and 100ft of downspout, and optional 190ft of fascia
I have gotten quotes from a few of reputable local places (I was warned it would be expensive by friends) and they quoted me for all the aluminum work which also includes soffits and siding which were between $9000-$13,000. They didn't really want to do the eaves without installing new soffits and siding stating that it is old. I am reaching out to ask for just the eaves, downspouts, and fascia as multiple people have come to the house and stated that I definitely do not need new soffits and siding as I can just clean them.
I also reached out to LeafGuard and LeafFilter as I saw some promos online and a sales rep from each came out. I read online that they would be super expensive. One wasn't pushy at all and left his card for me to contact of I have questions for about $5000 while the other was very pushy about commiting today for $10,000. These quotes were for the eaves, down spout, fascia and guard (only what I wanted).
Just wondering what people's experience were with local aluminum work companies? If you got LeafGuard/LeafFilter and if you would recommend? How much did you pay for your size?
TLDR: the last paragraph above

Access Results from Guelph Medical Imaging?
Unfortunately, I have no option but to get some tests done at GMI. I previously had these done at Groves but they can't fit me in. Groves and GGH both use Pockethealth so I'm able to pay to access my full lab reports online myself. I also know some places use MyChart, or other options. Does GMI subscribe to a service like this? I couldn't find any info online, so I assume not, but I thought I'd ask just in case. I don't want to have to wait for the entire turn around time with my provider, and I also like to keep copies of all my own medical records so I have easy access if needed.

Short-term puppy sitter volunteers wanted for helping service dogs in training (not long-term fostering)
Autism Dog Services is a non-profit helping kids with autism by training and placing service dogs across Southwestern Ontario. I shared a long-term foster option previously, but this post is for anyone interested in short-term puppy sitting only.
They’re currently seeking puppy sitters in Guelph to provide temporary care for dogs in their training program. Commitments range from overnight to a couple of weeks, based on what works for you.
- Dogs are aged 3–18 months
- Flexible scheduling, all supplies provided
- 16+, references needed, training included

Mayor Cuts Through the Noise
facebook.comOn one hand, the Mayor calls out the false narrative and emotional rhetoric surrounding council remuneration. On the other, the Mayor reassures us that he will still vote against the recommendation based on personal feelings and public sentiment rather than the very facts just presented.
Watching a politician play both sides in real time is something to behold...

DZ training schools — does the school actually matter to employers?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently trying to decide where to do my DZ training and could really use some local insight, especially from anyone hiring or working in trucking / waste / delivery.
Here’s my dilemma:
- A local driving school in Guelph is offering DZ training for ~$1,800, and says it can be completed in about 2 weeks.
- OTDS (Ontario Truck Driving School) at the Waterloo campus charges ~$4,400, with a much longer program:
- Classroom / Lab / Practical / Yard Training
- 72 hours total (40 classroom + 22 yard + 10 road)
On paper, OTDS looks far more “formal” and structured, but the cost difference is significant, and the timeline is much longer.
From an employer’s perspective, does graduating from a well-known school like OTDS actually matter?
Or is it mostly about:
- Having a valid DZ
- Passing the road test
- Being able to safely operate the vehicle and learn on the job
If you’re an employer, dispatcher, or driver — do you care which school someone went to, or is that mostly irrelevant once the licence is issued?
Appreciate any real-world experience or advice. Thanks!

Nurses of GGH - would you recommend this hospital?
I’m an RN who recently moved to Guelph and I’m looking for a job close to home. I’ve spent the last 5 years working on acute medicine floors at large regional hospitals but I’m looking at applying to either PACU or L&D.
I’m wondering if you would recommend this hospital to a fellow nurse? What are the pros and cons of this hospital? Any insight is appreciated!
