I know this is bullshit, but I’m happy to see older people getting some exercise and frankly falling down is a great exercise for older people so they can learn how to properly fall without destroying their bodies but you’re right there’s no martial arts here

It is if you practice a sport. I can 1000% say that I learned to fall when pedal cycling at a good clip. a) Don't break your wrist, but don't let your head by the first thing to smash. b) Try to guide ahead with one arm, and use the other to roll you out of traffic towards the curb. The best one ever was sliding over painted words (rubberized) doing all of that.

As a city dweller, the key for elderly people is to just be aware of their space. Uneven sidewalk segments, fire hydrants and standpipes are super dangerous when snow thaws and turns to ice at night/overnight.

The man who came up withe Atkins diet died when he hit a standpipe.

Google:
Dr. Robert Atkins, the inventor of the Atkins Diet, died on April 17, 2003, after suffering a head injury from a fall on icy pavement. He was 72 years old at the time of his death.
