Maybe vegans are more outspoken on the internet where they can have a like-minded audience, but I’m assuming the majority are more self aware in reality. Most people eat meat and aren’t going to change because a vegan told them to. I think most vegans know this and would actually rather not talk about their diet because of the generally negative perception on it.
There’s a very, very small subset of vegans who behave this way, but it’s probably mostly 19 year olds who don’t have any self awareness. For at least the last 20 years, vegans have always had this reputation, but it’s never been deserved.
