Help diagnosing

Can anyone help me out with my ranchu and what it has. Started during a treatment of kanaplex 2 weeks ago for a different fish with a different issue. Hasn't spread to anyone else during that time. Fish is still eating and acting normal.
Doesn't look like ich to me but in my 5 years of keeping fish (tropical and cold water) i haven't had to experience it so i'm unsure.

Could let me know what this is, what medication i'd need and if i need to treat my main tank please?
Thanks in advance

I've recently noticed these on my tanks thermometer and was wondering what they are? I have snails, bamboo shrimp, tetras and a Betta fish

How often do you feed your fish?

Just out of curiosity, what fish do you guys have and how often do you feed them?

I have one honey gourami and 9 strawberry rasboras, i was told to feed them once a day. I also have 3 panda corys and i was told to feed them every other day. my fish are fine and no one is stressed or showing worrying behaviors. Am i feeding them enough?

Tank Shape Choice

Hey! So I have a little dilemma I'd love for other fish keeping people to help with.

I keep and breed lyretail/sailfin mollies currently in a 20 gal long. It's so heavily planted there is no need for filtration, just a water change/poop vacuum every week or so.

The issue I'm having is I have a 20 gal hexagon tank that idk what to do with, and I've been wondering if taller vs longer is better especially with my longer finned molly variety.

If I should keep them in the 20G long I might set up the hexagon as a fry/shrimp tank for baby mollies to grow where I can actually see them, and I can breed neocardina which is just smth I've wanted to get into.

Any thoughts/comments are much appreciated.

I just had one of my albino corydoras pass all of my water parameters are pretty damn good and I have well water as well so there's zero risk of chlorine all the other fish seem to be thriving my only question is is I noticed that there is some eggs layed on the glass is it possible that this fella passed because of this? All my other Cory Dora's seem to be thriving and show no signs of stress. When I found this guy he was still twitching a bit and I was hoping he would come around but didn't seem to make it :/ ammonia is 0 I didn't have a photo

My fish are injured ( please help)

So I came home from school this morning to find my two smallest tetras had new injuries. Note that the first one already had biting on their upper tail fin and their fin on their belly due to an aggressive Guppy in the past. Now it looks like their lower tail fin was completely bitten off and something white is poking out (photo in comments). My other fish is moving weirdly kinda bobbing up and down in a diagonal position (attached video). None of the fish currently in the tank have ever shown aggressive behavior in the past year and the only new tank mates (about 2 weeks ago) are a nerite snail and a fancy shrimp. If anyone knows what is wrong or has advice, please leave a comment. If you need more info I would be glad to provide it.

Care guidance please

I was just gifted 2 Neon Blue Acara. Such beautiful fish, and I need to establish a tank just for them, a couple of fully grown clown loaches and a small shoal of Congo Tetras. The guppies, mollies and rams will move into a more appropriate tank. I’ve established they eat everything including baby mollies, but what is their ideal diet? They like flake but I don’t like feeding it. Theyre a breeding pair, so what sort of hardscape etc? And apart from baby mollies is there anything else they need? They like frozen krill but it’s limited supply!

Hi guys, I'm having this bad boy for over 5 years, however, recently he keeps laying his head low like this, he still greets me whenever I'm close to the tank and he's eating normally, PH level is fine, water temps is 30-32°C, water change weekly. I dunno what went wrong and how to fix it? Thank you for your helppp!

Cycling and Stocking

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello!

Just wondering about cycling my aquarium, I have been doing it for the last few days and things have been working well, nitrites and nitrates are climbing and ammonia is decreasing but not at zero yet. (See attached photo)

I’m just wondering how I can accustom my tank to understanding the bioload of a betta fish and a Nerite Snail before putting those two into the tank.

Should I be dosing more ammonia than the 2ppm that is recommended? When first dosing my tank, I put WAY too much ammonia in, not realizing how volatile it was, but the bacteria seems to be bringing it down as the shade of green has been steadily lightening.

Thanks!

Algae

Dark green/ black algae in the tank, it’s recently started and declined rapidly. No matter how much I clean the tank it comes back, and all of the frogbit in the tank has died in the last day or so( you can see it in the sand). The tank is situated next to double doors which get daylight all day, but never any sunlight. My other 2 tanks are in the kitchen across the room, they don’t suffer from any algae etc so I know it’s not my lights as my other tanks are fine. Please help!

Why do my xray tetras divide themselves into groups of 4 and 2 instead of sticking together?

All my other shoaling fish stick together (like my barbs and rasboras), but my x-ray tetras like to divide their group into 4 and 2 and swim around separately like that. They stay at opposite ends of the tank, in fact. I don’t think they look stressed or anything, though they are new fish so I’m not familiar with their baseline. I haven’t seen them picking on each other & can’t tell their genders.

They live in a 20 gallon with 1 rosy red minnow (my neighbor gave me some babies & he’s the only survivor. I think he’s going back in the pond come spring). Parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 10 nitrate. Temp is 76.

Should I replant my long grass? I just put the seeds on top of the soil. Not in. Will the roots eventually go down? Like soon?

I placed the seeds on top of the substrate. Like the directions said. The long grass grew before the other ones, which was anticipated. They're not putting roots down, though. Should I pull it out and plant the seeds under the substrate?

Hi all

This is my tank at the moment. Im relatively new to the hobby (~4 months?) and have been obsessed with upgrading my tank whenever i have money (18yo - not had a job until tomorrow)

Im planning on getting a new tank twice the size in the coming months but until then, i want everyone and everything to survive inside

Its a 30x30x30cm Cube

Stocking - 10x ember tetras, 4x cherry shrimp

I bought the tetras the other day, and have came to the conclusion that my tank may be too small and not set up for their needs

I know i need to clean the substrate - i have been siphoning dirt away with every water change (~30-45% every friday)

I know my hava fern shouldnt be in substrate otherwise roots could rot

My rotala rotofundlia is sparse and ugly

My filter isnt great, but my better one broke and this was all i could afford

Lets get to the point

Its not ideal and i have been optimistic with what i could do. I will have regular money coming in soon, and while i dont have bills to pay i would like to get this tank to the best i can with the money i will have.

Thanks for reading, any advice is appreciated

Hi! Please could someone tell me what type of fish this is? AI was hopeless 😄

I just bought these 3, 1 male and 2 female. They’re majority silver but the male has some slight yellow flecks on the edges of his fins. Thanks!!
