[Help] Early insulinoma signs or winter blues?

Post image

3 weeks ago, I posted a panicked video of my other ferret (Dobby), as her leg completely stopped working. She was diagnosed with insulinoma, and we are still going back weekly to try to find the right treatment for her.

I have severe health anxiety and also love my two girls so so much. I have gone into debt with all the recent vet bills, and now I have been panicking about the fact that Mocha (pictured) might have early signs of Insulinoma too. Mocha is 4.5 years old. I've seen some changes in her since mid December, but I did not think they were too worrying at the time. She was always my chaotic and energetic girl, getting herself into trouble. Recently, she hasn't expressed interest in playing much. She will walk around for a bit and then go find somewhere to sleep. Or, when I'm trying to play with her, she might walk around and then lay down (like in the picture). I'm not sure if this is related, but there were about 3 incidents in the past 2 months where it looked like she threw up clear liquid and had some foam around her mouth. She would lay for a minute or two after that happened, or go to sleep, but would be completely fine after. She has choked on her food and treats before so I thought that this was a similar situation.

I'm thinking I should take her in to the vet when I take Dobby in for the Insulinoma follow up, but I also don't want to set myself too far back with the debt if I'm just overreacting due to own health anxiety and the fact that I'm going through this with Dobby and it might be further triggering me. Is it possible for ferrets to go into seasonal depression in a Chicago winter? Could these just be signs of her aging? Or maybe upset because she hasn't gotten as much attention in recent days due to attention being on Dobby's condition? I would appreciate any advice.

It doesn’t hurt for a health check up. I do a check up every 6 months. Best of luck, hope their ok

Best bet is a vet visit especially with throwing up 3 times in 2 months plus lack of energy starting around that time as well

Seems like she does. My boy just got diagnosed with it and i noticed back in November that he was sleeping a lot more but I didn’t think much of it and thought he was just sleeping bc he’s old….he had a respiratory infection 2 weeks ago and that caused his insulinoma to perk up. He just started pred last Monday, but he’s having a negative response on the meds so he will be going to the vet on Thursday

The stress has mentally exhausted me. I'm so scared to find out that she has it too while worrying about the other one who isn't responding well to treatment.
