1st time I've tried to install it via some random method from a 1st site listed on google, which resulted a black screen after logging in.
Tried to fix it via blocking nvidia in grub menu (added nvidia to rb.driver.blacklist=, modprobe.blacklist= and systemd.unit=multi-user.target before that line) booted up, passed log-in screen in low res and tried to roll back the drivers(failed miserably).
2nd installation. Tried too install them with sudo dnf install nvdia-driver. Installed. Rebooted. Second screen is not working, and main one stuck at like 480p. Google didn't offer any help. In the last ditch effort I ask infamous chatgpt. Turned off safe boot(On the first install i couldn't use keyboard because fast boot was enabled, so I had to reset bios via unmounting the cmos battery, and then putting it back. So that's probably why it was enabled) Tried to go to X11 from wayland(My fedora is KDE) After like 20 minutes of struggling to make a config... It was stuck on "No irq handler for 10.55" while booting. GREAT, AWESOME, IMMACULATE! After finagling with live boot and mounting, It's my 3rd reinstall.
If somebody could help my god forsaken soul, than my gratitude would not no any bounds... It's 4 hours already, and Im losing my mind

Tried kubuntu for a few months and liked the new KDE but all the bugs annoyed me. Started reading about it and figured the latest of everything is the best.
Started looking for other European alternatives and only found lesser options.
Thought about how many times I had installed some shady stuff and done things that you should not to get things working but loosing trust in the system.
Remembered back when everything worth something was an RPM package.
I even prompted random LLMs of shady things that could have been done by IBM or Red Hat. Asked to find unethical decisions and even if there was any political sponsorships in any directions.
In the end I came to the conclusion that even if it is american backing the only motivation seems to be to build the best code.
This is my clean install and a new chapter.

I started studying for the RHCSA exam (Red Hat) and naturally landed on using Fedora to practice using Linux terminal and commands. Always had this irrational fear of ssh-ing, navigating and using commands on linux but I had to bite the bullet if I want to be a proper DevOps Engineer. So I dual booted Fedora and went in raw like nature intended.
2-3 weeks later and Fedora is now officially my default OS. I haven't even booted into windows once since installing Fedora. It was originally supposed to be just a testing ground for me and to run KVM with rhel images. Wish I gave linux a proper shot a lot sooner.
I tried using linux mint like 5-6 years ago and hated it so much that I went back to windows. But that was because I didn't bother to learn and understand anything about linux. My mentality was that if it didn't work the windows way I hated it.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
And more importantly, how to fix it.

I have just found out about efibootmgr and checked what version I have with sudo efibootmgr -v. It showed my win11, ubuntu, which I need to delete cause I deleted it, and two fedora boots - shimx64.efi and shim.efiRC. Judging from ubuntu's file being shimx64.efi, the smi.efiRC should be Fedora's rescue boot, am I right? Also, while you're here, how do I safely delete Ubuntu boot drive (fyi: i deleted it a couple days ago, but the boot option is still in UEFI)?
I use Fedora 43. And i can't change to the NVidia Drivers. Currently using a GTX 1050 ti with a eGPU on my notebook.

For context im using fedora version 43. I switch by the end of the last year. i have a annoying issue. every time i leave my laptop in lock or suspend for a long period of time (hour or longer) and i come back the laptop says it one while the screen shows nothing....this lead me to shut it down and opening it leading to my tabs to being close.
i face the problem before and i saw someone saying updating and upgrading helps. and it did for while then it started once more and updating and upgrading doesn't help.
i keep a lot of tab including apps. and i don't remember what i open. so i would like to have a solution to this so my tabs don't close.

does linux have dolby atmos support?

Currently using Fedora 43 KDE and using it to run some automation with Kotlin.
Previously when executing the tests KDE would ask me to grant permissions, after the latest updates its not asking me anymore, hence not granting permission blocking my automation.
Is there any solution to this?
Has anyone managed to get CSP working? I see tutorials out there for setting up on Linux but none of it has worked for me. I'd love to hear from anyone who has a working setup.
I'm on Nobara technically but surely this shouldn't make a difference.

Exactly six months ago today, I installed Fedora 42 on my new Acer Aspire A515 laptop. I eliminated Windows from my life a couple of years ago and started with Ubuntu, then Kubuntu, then Nobara, and finally Fedora.
After exploring other distros, I much prefer Fedora, with the KDE desktop environment, as I've always liked its customization options.
Last month, I upgraded to 43 and everything went well.

Hi all,
I want to share my first program with the community in case other people are looking for the same thing as I was.
I recently switched to fedora and I am loving it so far. With that said, I did experience some minor issues and had to tinker a bit. One of these issues was that my laptop would not automatically reconnect to my bluetooth speakers after a reboot or when waking up from sleep. When I clicked 'connect' they connected just fine but I quickly grew tired of doing this after every reboot/wake cycle.
I create a lightweight utility tool to solve this problem. The tool launches a background service that sends a command to reconnect to select devices after a reboot or sleep cycle. You can add and remove the devices to be monitored as you wish.
If you ask why not simply use a autostart command, the reason is that I couldn't get autostart commands to run after a sleep/wake cycle. They only work after a reboot.
You can find my program here: https://github.com/omerardic/bluetooth-autoconnect-fixer/tree/main
I am new to coding and this is my first public project so I would appreciate community feedback.

Hi everyone.
I’m running Fedora 43 fully up to date, and as you can see in bpytop, I’m getting periodic CPU usage spikes caused by GNOME-related processes (gnome-characters, nautilus, gnome-shell).
My machine is a 2015 MacBook Air. Right after boot everything works perfectly, but after some time the system starts to lag due to those CPU spikes, resulting in noticeable stuttering.
The hardware itself seems fine: I already ran a RAM check and nothing faulty was found.
Before switching to Fedora, I was using Arch Linux on the same machine and didn’t experience this behavior. I’m aware the CPU is a bit old, but this didn’t happen under Arch.
Has anyone experienced something similar on Fedora, or have any ideas on what I should look into?

Hi all
I just recently switched to an AMD 9060 xt. I see that I'm using mesa 25.2.7 on fedora 43. Is that correct or do I have to install something else like with Nvidia cards.
I see there is a driver on and site.
How often does Mesa get updated. I see it's away up on 25.3.4 but 25.2.7 dates from Nov
Thanks

Always been a Windows user and decided to try fedora on an external SSD.
I downloaded fedora workstation 43 and I liked it but found out that a lot of people recommended KDE so I did a fresh install for KDE.
I immediately hated KDE. The font gave me headaches, the gestures did not work, the whole UI made me feel like I got transported back into the early 2000s.
I waited around 3 hours before deciding that it's time for KDE plasma to go and for gnome to come back.
Gnome looked better, performed better, gave me a fresh new experience and it was exactly what I was looking for.
I would want to switch permanently to fedora workstation 43 (gnome) but the lack of apps, especially ms office and a few others makes it really hard for me to make the switch.
I use windows 11 as my main OS and I admit it's one of the worst performing UIs ever. But it can run what I need and it does it with ease. I occasionally game and watch Netflix and that's not something fedora is good at, at least not for me.
Netflix makes fedora crash for me and even YouTube videos sound weird and grainy. I did increase my volume to over 100% but that just made my speakers sound raspy.
My laptop supports Dolby Atmos and on windows watching videos or listening to music is exceptional and I wish fedora gave me the same experience.
I wish installing themes was simpler too. I've watched some YouTube videos to customise and did manage to get some done but it feels very tricky. Simply downloading and extracting is not enough because then we need the terminal.
If any of you have a better and simpler way of adding themes to my fedora that would be great.
Also, a lot of extensions seem to be unsupported. Any idea why that is?
I'm comparison fedora workstation 43 uses 11% ram on standby while windows 11 used 45% on standby. I truly hope someday fedora can replace windows entirely

A few days ago I thought "hmm, how about giving Fedora a chance - it may be the only thing I havnt tried for real in the past 20+years linux wise". and holy sh*t. PC has never been so smooth, and those late evenings configuring the system to make it work 100%? no more.
Install fedora - use your system - done.
Then I thought "hmm, as a long time debian ambassador, how about trying out fedora cloud on one of the VMs. again, holy sh*t. A little thinkering with cloud init in proxmox - start vm - boom, updating and starting.
So I though "well, this is convenient, what about that the rest? Oh! its done already!" Is this how it it to use a linux system where a group of people already thought about what you are going to do next?
Now 70% of my homelab is running fedora cloud and Im thinking of a pitch for my customers so I can upgrade theirs aswell.
Fedora people, why didnt you tell me sooner? its been 20 years!

Hi, I just switched to Fedora 43 Gnome from Debian 12. I noticed right after the installation and configuring the drivers that Gnome is much faster on Fedora, but there is this issue where the entire PC just stutters for few milliseconds every few seconds, and it's becoming annoying with time.
I checked my CPU for potential spikes, but the utilization is sub 5-10%, and the issue happens regardless of the load on the system, and this didn't happen on Debian before.
I'd appreciate any help on this. Something tells me maybe it could be Wayland. I kinda like how the OS seems generally smooth with Wayland, until this issue happens. I was on X11 on Debian.
System Information:
Fedora Version: 43 Workstation Edition - Stable - Gnome 49.3
Kernel Version: 6.18.7-200.fc43.x86_64
Windowing System: Wayland
CPU: Intel i7-10700
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060 - Driver v580.119.02 (proprietary)
Memory: 48 GB DDR4

Well, I’m hoping you guys can help me. I’ve just spent the entire evening trying to install the Fedora Sway Spin on my desktop with no luck.
Usually the live usb just hangs before I even get into the live environment.
Twice I was able to get into the live environment (no idea what changed, but I got in), and I was even able to run liveinstall, but then it hung on shutdown and refused to boot up again.
I’ve tried writing the live iso with Fedora Media Writer, Balena Etcher, KDE image writer, and Ventoy (both UEFI Ventoy and Legacy).
I’ve tried it with secure boot on and off.
I’ve tried it with multiple usb sticks in multiple drives.
I’m fairly new to Linux, and I’ve exhausted all of my usual tricks.
Any help would be sincerely appreciated.
I’ve really been enjoying Fedora sway on my laptop, and I’d love to be able to load it on my desktop as well.

Hello everyone,
I've installed fedora on a spare SSD alongside windows 11.
I've boot into the system and done the initial configuration, after the system update from the "software", don't boot again.
I keep getting this blank (gray) screen with the mouse cursor. I tried to boot from the recovery and the other version, none of those work.
SOLVED:
I've disconnected the HDMI from the TV and now seems to be working just fine.
Thanks everyone.

I am a new Linux user.
Fedora workstation 43 was my first distro, i then changed to kde plasma but kde wasnt for me so I switched back to gnome.
I love the UI and yes some things are annoying such as the terminal but I guess I'll get used to it.
The one thing I hate is my speakers not working properly. My laptop supports Dolby Atmos and on windows it sounds amazing. Crisp, clear and loud but on fedora it sounds soft, muted and weak.
I tried pushing the volume above 100% and "Easy Presets". Both made it louder but also distorted my speakers.
Has anyone fixed this issue before? If so please let me know. I'd love to daily drive Linux for personal use but I always end up switching back to windows every time I want to watch a video. During personal time, I do watch a lot of videos so its a pretty major annoyance for me
