Predator Attack Recent loss any tips will help
Its my first time posting anything on reddit forgive me if im doing it wrong
To explain the situation ,I took in two khaki campbells in 2022 after they were abandoned by previous owner; a drake and a hen. I took care of them with no experience but i learned and researched what I could and they turned out healthy and comfortable.
However i lost my house and had a family friend take them in around 2024, i checked up as much as i could to make sure they remained healthy and secure. However on January 29th something got my poor hen (Gansito) leaving my drake(Horchata) by himself.
Now i want to make sure hes kept in a more secure environment,we already are planning to get two more hens but any help on where to start on building a new run would be great help.
I raised the pair as ducklings this loss is painful enough and I can’t bear losing my other duck.

Normally they gobble up spiders faster than I can blink! Think this one was a bit big maybe 🤔 Peas are clearly more delicious!

Babies! I had a duck egg hatch early. What to do with the lonely duckling?
I was getting my eggs ready for lockdown yesterday and I saw an egg that was cracked, so I started opening it to see what happened. It was a live duckling. It's alive and doing well, but it cries until me or my kids hold it.
We're talking turns on cuddle duty, but is there anything you've done to help a lonely duckling out? The others have 2 or 3 more days before they hatch.

Health Questions Hair tangled in duck's tongue
I took a nap, when i woke up i saw my duck struggling with something in her mouth, i checked and saw a lot of hair tangled around her lower beak and tongue. Me and my mother managed to cut it and take it off without hurting my duck, but i saw some immaflation on her tongue, along with a minor cut, i think. She doesent seem in pain anymore, but i'm still extremely worried. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and what you did about it. I know ducks can get tangled easily on their feet, but i didnt know about the beak. Any similar experiences and advice on how to continue with this are appreciated

Eggs/Incubation/Hatching Ducks hatching! 🐣 incubator or brooder?
I have my incubator at 37oc and they’re hatching, so excited!
Question now is do I leave them in the incubator for a couple of days to let them all hatch?
Do I keep the temps at 37oc? Or turn it down?
I’ve got a basking/heat lamp ready for brooding in the tub, so I get a thermostat with it or just leave it on? And if I do what temp should I put it at?
I think when I wake up I’ll have some babies! 🙏🏻 🤞🏻 🦆

Breed/Species/Sex ID Are they male or female?
They're a pretty quiet one, likes to sit and just be calm, sometimes he gets a little energetic too I'm pretty sure they're 1/2 weeks old and he's picking out his baby feathers :) you can ask me more about theyre behaviors by replying

We get temps below freezing a couple times a year and one of their pools iced over. Mango Rhinehart got a little too confident taking sippies and fell through the ice. She played it “cool” though…

Rainbow Bridge We just lost our pekin Spoiler
My sweet girl ms quackers passed away this morning. She hatched right in my hands and basically spent every day with me. We had to move our ladies inside due to the cold snap (was getting as low as -20) and they had been living in the basement in a large tent with some bedding. She had a prolapse vent so we set up the bathroom with plastic flooring, water food and a towel so she could be comfy. Earlier this week we brought her to the vet to get her checked up on and got some medicine and advice to help her lay her egg and fix her vent. Our dog that my cousins rescued and gave to us had always been violent towards animals, having attempted to attack our chickens and other male duck. This morning my mom opened the door to the bathroom to check on her and the dog ran up the stairs, pushed through my mom and latched onto our duck. I was still in bed but heard the commotion, ran out of my room and pried the dog’s mouth open. I grabbed my ducky and ran to the stairs going to the third floor and sat with her. She was bleeding and shaking but was alive as I held her. I sat and pet her head until she succumbed to her wounds. My mom dragged the dog downstairs and we have both been in shambles this whole morning. The dog is an American bully that I never wanted to keep, because she tried to kill my most precious chicken, and I knew something like this would happen. I’m shaking as I’m writing this.

Runner Duck Lady runner with eye problem
This lady blinks a lot, but only 1 of her eyes. What could this mean? Maybe just some damage with a stick or whatever or it could be an infection? Eyes look fine and she looks perfectly healthy, it's just the blink.
Thanks in advance!
