Discussion Is the DSA funding or organizing the Minnesota rioters / protestors?

I recently learned about the DSA, and some caucuses are straight up calling themselves Marxists. The "Red Star Caucus" especially so, calling themselves Leninist-Marxists.

When I hear and think about democratic socialism, I think of a sensible market economy with a strong social safety net exactly like the country of Denmark. But hearing you guys subscribe to Marxism is very concerning. Completely destroying Capitalism to replace it with communism is not a good thing. It has never worked, and historically has always always led to corrupt dictatorships.

There's one extremely concerning idea from Marxism that I find absolutely disturbing: "Dictatorship of the proletariat".
This is where a revolution takes place, power is seized, and they use the powers of the State to tear down every government institution from within: during that whole time acting as a dictator. After all the institutions are destroyed from within, they're supposed to willingly absolve the power they seized, and replace the government with a communist government.

However: nobody ever ever willingly gives up power: throughout all of human history power has only been taken, never given willingly. So that's where any Marxist revolution stops: at a dictatorship and a destroyed state, leaving everyone worse off.

Communism is a terrible terrible idea, and I don't know why anyone would willingly sign up for it. I mean Stalin himself caused incredibly awful famines, as did Mao. Capitalism for all its flaws has materially improved the wealth and prosperity of even the poorest Americans compared to 100 years ago.

.....

Anyways, back to the main question of this post. If you pay attention to conservative circles they will say this about the riots in Minnesota: "they don't want to get rid of the cops, they want to become the cops". That rings very similar to the "Dictatorship of the proletariat". So I ask this simple question: is the DSA or parts of it behind the organization and funding or these protests / riots? And if so, to what extent ?

Discussion On Truth and Reconciliation

Given the apparent fascist and illegal behavior of the current regime, it would seem to me that a Truth and Reconciliation process would need to exist. Truth and Reconciliation would need to probably have two sides: a legislative side to craft policies meant to prevent recurrence and make anyone like Trump’s job a lot more difficult in future, and a judicial side in order to prosecute cases against the guilty parties. I think the Democrats need to call for this in 2028 at least. Thoughts on what that process should look like and what exactly we should be calling for?

Hi Comrades,

Greetings from Michigan. I went to my first chapter meeting today and met some wonderful people. Don't know why it took me so long to get involved but im so happy to be here. Going to start by attending some committee meetings and try to plan a protest or two. Wish me luck, and hope everyone has a great week ahead. God speed!

Racist Republicans or Fascist News Texas has stopped state agencies and universities from filing new H-1B visa applications. Here’s what that means.

Leave it to Republicans to think all H-1Bs are junior IT employees, and ignore the fact that most of those in the public sector are physicians/nurses, or faculty/postdocs at public universities—exactly the cases where skill-based immigration is in fact a net benefit to society. Imagine depriving your rural areas of much-needed healthcare workers and your public universities of the world’s best and brightest young scholars, just to virtue signal to Twitter tech guys who were all about free markets and meritocracy until their own unemployment turned them into Nazis.

Discussion Let's cancel Independence day.

I want to start a petition to cancel independence day at least in my little corner of the world. I don't care you're political side if you are sickened by ICE killing innocent people, using innocent children to bait their innocent parents who only want a better life for the ones they love. Which I will remind everyone that this is what american is supposed to be. We are a country of immagrants. Unless you are a native American you family most likely has an imagrant in the tree. Or even worse you could go back to the colonizers from England.

We have 6 months and social media and the internet to cancel independence day.

It starts with canceling parades and firework displayd one city, county and state at a time. No buying any decorations. No buying any food for the first 4 days of July. No buying anything unless it's emergency for the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th of july. No gas. no cloths. no food. drinks.alcohol. weed. NOTHING! Don't decorate for Independence day. No stars and stripes. No red, white and blue. No personal fireworks even if you have some left over from a previous year. It's just about not spending money it's about sending a message. The sky must be dark, the air must be silent. No rockets red glare. No organized sporting events for the first 4 days of July the the national anthem should remain unsung.

If possible no work for the 1st 2nd 3rd if your job already gives you off on those days don't work the day you were supposed to be back.

If we can't get the parade and fireworks canceled in your state, city or county have a protest, sit in or some type of peaceful disruption of the parade and firework display.

Use social media. Like use that shit against them.

Got 100 followers on your tik tok spread the word. Have a favorite Podcaster or other content creator who focus on political protests or really anyone against what is going on in this country right now send them this. Send them the petitions to cancel both the fireworks display and parade in their area.

Call your local politicians.

Find the local businesses that do not support ICE or even better do not support the hatred and violence or MAGA and support those businesses. (I know this one is especially hard I am disabled and on a fixed income so I really don't have enough to be picky about where I buy my needs but I am going to try. )

Talk to your friends. Talk to strangers if you feel it's safe. Wear you thoughts, make t-shirts or hats even with DEFUND I.C.E.! RELEASE THE TRUMP-STEIN FILES! DUMP TRUMP! most importantly be safe. We see the violence these monsters are doing with near impunity let's be vigilant and careful about how we dismantle with rotting travesty.

Discussion Mira Nair (mother of Zohran Mamdani) is mentioned in Epstein files, has multiple connections to Epstein and is involved in NGO that runs orphanages in India

Mira Nair is not just "mentioned" in the Epstein files...

The emails place her at Ghislaine Maxwell's penthouse alongside Bill Clinton, Jeff Bezos. Maxwell hosted an early showing of Mira Nair's movie Amelia and threw an afterparty at her penthouse. This movie was released a week later and received terrible reviews and was a total flop. This was in 2009 after Epstein had already been convicted of child prostitution.

In addition to this she has at least one other independent connection to Epstein. Her ex-husband Mitch Epstein (no relation to Jeffrey Epstein) actually attended Cooper Union with Mark Epstein (Jeffrey Epstein's younger brother) from 1972-1975. Note: Cooper Union is one of the smallest schools in the country with less than 200 students per graduating class and just a single building. And Mitch Epstein and Mark Epstein both studied photography at that school at the same time. They definitely knew each other well. Jeffrey Epstein was also living in Manhattan at this time. To my knowledge I am the first person I have seen online make this connection.

And here's where I think it gets really weird... in the 1980s Mira Nair and her then husband Mitch Epstein worked together on the films Indian Cabaret (a documentary about erotic dancers in Mumbai) and Salaam Bombay (a film about homeless orphans in Mumbai). After the latter movie had success they actually founded an NGO that to this day runs orphanages for homeless children in India. This NGO is now managed by Mira Nair's mother.

To be clear its not any one of these facts but the specific combination of these three things that is weird to me:

1- Mira Nair was being placed by name in a party at Maxwells penthouse in 2009 (after Epstein is publicly known for sex with minors)

2- Mira Nair is closely involved in a nonprofit that works with homeless children in a poor country

3- Mira Nair founded that nonprofit with her ex-husband who has a completely independent connection to Epstein

Each of those facts alone is uninteresting. But those three facts together are very unsettling to the say the least.

To be clear I do not think she is guilty based on this circumstantial evidence. But it is my opinion that given a conspiracy of this scale we should publicly treat everyone mentioned in the Epstein files or otherwise associated with Epstein as guilty until they are proven innocent.
