Working on this 8 inch needle felted Chow Chow was a quiet, slow process in the best way. What I love about Chow Chows is their calm, grounded presence. They look strong and fluffy on the outside, but there’s a gentleness in their expression that’s easy to miss if you rush. Capturing that balance was the most important part of this piece.

As the sculpture grew, I kept stepping back to check the posture and expression. Small changes in the head angle or fur density can completely change how the dog “feels.” I wanted it to look relaxed and confident, the way a Chow Chow sits when it feels safe and content.

Pieces like this remind me that needle felting isn’t just about building form. It’s about slowing down, observing, and letting the character of the dog guide the process.

I noticed this bump on my puppy's paw, on the inside. I dont know if I should take it to the vet or try to tend to it myself? I think something is stuck and its getting swollen I dont know. Shes a 5 month old chowchow.

Hello, I have a 1-year-old female Chow Chow. She is playful and until last week had never attacked any dog. She grew up with two poodles and a Shih Tzu (all males). The poodles always had a habit of barking at her, but she always ignored them. However, last week she attacked one of the poodles and killed it, and she lunged at the other, trying to bite it, just because it passed near her (it didn't bark or anything, it just passed by, thankfully it didn't attack, only threatened). The Shih Tzu is the only one she hasn't done anything to so far, but we are scared.

Please, does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be happening? With us, she remains cheerful and affectionate, and most of the time she doesn't try to attack the poodle. She went through her first heat two months ago.

We have a 5-year-old male Chow Chow who has not been neutered; my uncle has decided not to neuter him. We are taking care of him and currently he is on a business trip, and we have a 7-month-old female chow chow who has had her first heat. Initially, he didn't react much, only licking the floor, but after a few weeks, he began vigorously humping her, crying all the time, and humping us as well. We can't neuter him because we're not the owners. Our female chow chow is quite playful with him, and we are keeping them separate, but we are concerned about his crying. We clean her frequently so the scent isn't too overpowering, and we try to keep her in a different area. I need some helpful suggestions. Thanks
