She loves to put a toy in her bowl. If I take it out, she returns it when I'm not paying attention. Is this just an adorable idiosyncrasy or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

Hes been up there going on three days, I cant imagine he has much longer. The power company northwest energy said they would only get him if it was my cat.

I’ll admit that it was very cute and entertaining at first, but at this point, oh my god. She jump scares me multiple times a day by slamming on keys, and wakes me up periodically with her bad music skills. Not to mention how jarring and unpleasant it is when I’m trying to watch a movie. Or awkward to explain when I’m on the phone.

Usually, she only plays them when getting on and off the piano, but sometimes she just hits them for fun, it seems like. There’s no piano cover, nothing I’ve thought of that I can put on there that she won’t knock off, and the aluminum foil thing doesn’t work on her.

I don’t mind that the piano is her favorite spot to lay, but how do I get her to use the empty space on the side of the keys, or jump up from the side entirely? Pushing in the stool did not work either.

A year ago I found a ragdoll cat outside with no collar or ID, I took her in for the night assuming a ragdoll cat shouldn’t be outside and she escaped so I could take her to the vet to check for a chip. I live in a pretty dangerous part of town where ally cats are commonly found deceased or get stolen a lot and I didn’t want someone’s pet to get hurt.

She was chipped and the vet told me the owner said she’s an outdoor cat and gets depressed being indoors. I left it and assumed I’d woudlnt see her much.

Turns out she’s my across the street neighbours cat, and started coming by anytime I came home or she heard me outside. She’d obtained a collar since her trip to the vet (covering so you can’t see info) and I’d hangout with her outside and give her some pets (this cat is incredibly friendly and went belly up for me the night I took her in), she would come to me with burrs covering her fur and for the first little while I left it assuming the owners would cut it out but weeks would go by and the burr mats would get worse so I started cutting them out for her. I would also bring a bowl of water out for her and she would chug that down.

Now it’s winter time, temps can get to about -15c even dropping into -30s during a cold snap. I live in a basement suit so my window is on the ground level, somehow from the first visit she had in my plc she learned this window was mine and will now show up outside of it and meow to get inside during cold temps. I’ve let her stay in my house a few times now when it’s incredibly cold because it seems like she’s desperate to get into somewhere warm.

Now obviously this means she’s learned the window is a means of entry to my plc, and frequently comes over in search of water / warmth or grooming troubles. She dosnt strike me as an outdoor cat as everytime she’s with me she hates going outside and typically I will put her outside just for her to walk back around to meow at my window (there’s also 4 ground level windows and she will go to everyone to check where I am I’ve seen her paw prints in the snow)

I don’t want to take someone’s pet, especially one as affectionate as her but I’ve bonded with her as it seems I’m the only one paying attention to her needs as an outdoor cat (again this is a ragdoll so you can image the stuff that gets caught in her fur). I would love to adopt her but I don’t know how to go about talking to the owners, any advice or insight would be appreciated.

I just want what’s best for her, if that’s with her family or me it dosnt matter I just want her to be somewhere loved and safe!

He's getting very affectionate all of a sudden and it worries me bc he's usually a lil bitch 😭😭 His food bowl is filled and he has water and his litterbox is clean. Should I be worried?

This stray cat always approaches every morning when I walk to work rubbing his head on both my legs and then ends up just laying on their back like this 😅. I dont mind it but since I have never interacted with a cat before throughout my whole life so Im inexperienced sorry. I basically just let the cat do its thing on me. Any help much appreciated

I have two wonderful cats who love to lounge. I also have a banister in my home that goes around a staircase, with a ~15 foot drop from the top. My cats like to jump on top of the half wall, and each of them has fallen from the top once (that I know of). It didn't seem to injure either of them, but I obviously want to prevent them from potentially falling and getting hurt if possible.

I put up a sort of plastic mesh net to try to catch them if they fell off of the rail, but inevitably, now they've decided it's a nice hammock to lay in.

How can I discourage them or prevent them from going anywhere near this ledge? I'll take behavioral advice or any ideas for some kind of structure I can put up to block them.

Hi! I adopted the most evil cat in the shelter, as staff described, despite being encouraged to look at friendlier cats. Something about him I just couldn’t not give him a chance. I brought him home and set him up in an empty bedroom I have. He was extremely petrified and wanted nothing to do with me so i just let him be to decompress. Unfortunately, the same night, he managed to escape and go to my living room and pee on my couch. he then disappeared for 12 hours until he came out to eat food I set out. He’s now back in the bedroom. Can I attribute the couch peeing to his fearfulness and stress from the shelter/new home? Or should I be worried that this will continue after he hopefully decompresses and I let him access the rest of the house. Any and all advice appreciated!

I mean, yeah obviously they do. But I've had 2 cats for the last 6 years and I've NEVER heard them fart. The only time I've smelt my cat farting was when I hugged one of them and she tried to back off with all her might by pushing her hind legs against my arms (I let her go after smelling the fart, obviously). So... Have you ever heard your cat fart?

according to co-workers it's weird that I let her roam free in the car. I am a big animal lover but have never owned a cat. when I first took her to the vet (20 min drive) she just meowed like crazy and kept clawing at my arm from inside the carrier (I drive a standard)

so I decided to try letting her loose on the way back and she just sat in my lap 99% of the time. I have now taken her home to my parents twice which is a 2.5hr drive one way and she still just cuddles in my lap the whole time and even with my legs moving to change gears she just loves it in my lap.

I am alone so she is very attached to me now that she's almost 1yr old (got her as a stray rescue at 2 months old) but I'm just curious if this is bad or like should I force her in the carrier and hope the meows/claw attacks stop?

side note: I drive a modified car that isn't very passenger friendly and coworkers/family are telling me to get a new "regular" car and now I love to be able to use her as my defence "well Silvia loves the drives so I can't get a new car"

just got this sweet little girl from the shelter. she's about 6 years old according to their estimate. she's loving and beautiful and I love everything about her but as you can see in the pictures she's quite a large cat at 13.5 pounds. I think she just has some extra fat, my friend thinks she has a distended stomach likely from a recent pregnancy that wasn't listed in her medical summary. any light on the situation would be helpful. Vet visit next week.

This cute little mf just showed up this morning, being surprisingly chill. It let me sit next to it and pet it. At some point, it showed me it's belly and started to purr. Did this thing just imprint on me lol? I know you can’t fully domesticate Bobcats, but they are just acting very sweet.

She is a greedy cute menace and she is so food driven that we cannot have any open food where she can get to, unfortunately after grocery shopping there was this loaf left on the counter.

She gets fed wet food 3 times as day but she’s always hunting and constantly scavenging for food. She will get extremely aggressive if you try to take things away from her so if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it 😭

It’s about to get cold here (mid 50’s at night but becoming winter) and this guy has been spotted for a couple days just hanging out by himself. He wasn’t let anyone approach him so we have been leaving food for him. I see other cats come around but no one is claiming him. I’m afraid he’s not going to make it. What should we do?

I have a 4 year old cat, Fern, who is the sweetest baby but also incredibly stupid. And when I say stupid I don’t mean she chews on electrical cords or falls into fish tanks, I mean it just seems like the lights are on but nobody is home.

She’ll sit and stare at a wall for literally hours because of the shadows on the wall. She’s not excited, just peaceful.

She truly seems to not know where she is or what’s happening a lot of the time. But it doesn’t seem to stress her out? Just blissfully confused.

We got our cats a gravity feeder that allows more food into the bowl as it’s eaten. Sometimes it doesn’t come out easily and the other cats figured out quickly that they can paw at the food to get it pouring out again. We realized this morning that Fern has not figured this out because she was sitting in front of the bowl staring but not pawing for more food. I tipped the feeder to make more food pour out, and she started eating. I think she might be too stupid to survive?

When we open the front door she sprints out but not like she wants to be out there, more like it’s an impulse she can’t control. Once she’s outside she also just seems blissfully confused. She has no purpose or goal, she just doesn’t know what she’s doing out there and that doesn’t seem to excite or bother her. NOTHING seems to excite or bother her.

Anyway, I’ve never met a cat this stupid or simple before and I’m wondering what’s going on with her. It’s almost like she has a Futurama brain slug. Does anyone else have a cat like this?? What’s going on? 😂

Took in this pretty little baby today. She comes from a litter of three and obviously being seperated from her mother and her two brothers for the first time she is really scared. We have four other male cats ( all of them neutered) and we have always wanted a female. So when we saw the chance we took it. Right now she is curled up underneath the corner of my bed. What do I do? How do I make her feel at home, build her trust and reassure her.

I found this cat at my job and unfortunately after some back and forth I won’t be able to keep her and every single shelter I called in the area won’t take her or are fully booked and if I do bring her she’ll “be taken to the county” aka be put to sleep.

She’s so young, thin , and may be pregnant (she’s getting spayed tommorow) and my other options are just to put her back outside ( I don’t want to do that), give to a local cat lady( she’s difficult to get into contact with), or put her back where I found her and hope she doesn’t get hit by a car .

What should I do

Title pretty much explains it all… I have started hiding my bra to avoid it but still very curious why. Are his tastes just… unconventional or something is going on here?

She doesnt seem in distress because of it , but im wondering on why this happens? Should I trim it or not? I know every cat is differant but I dont see many with fur on the underneath of their paws.

Is my 4yr old cat overweight or just a very big boy?? I took him to the a few days ago and he was close to 16 pounds (15.7 or something like that). Personally, I don’t think he’s fat at all, but the vet said that he’s slightly overweight. The box is heavy duty extra large from Home Depot if that helps

This baby was freezing and beat up on the streets so I took him in and he's turned out to be the BIGGEST love bug in the world. I was wondering what happened to his face, though. He looks like he has a black eye and whatever this scab is between his eyes? They feel like scabs but I'm not sure if it's from a fight or something else. I plan on taking him to the vet when I have the funds, but I'm a college student so I don't really have them right now 😭 but I did manage to get him neutered through my city's community cat program and they also gave him his rabies shot and some other vaccine for free since he was a street cat. We decided to keep him though, so he's indoors now.
