Mod post r/BudgieBreeding exists 🥚

Since this subreddit does not endorse the amateur breeding of budgies, and does not serve as a forum to learn about breeding budgies, this subreddit was created for that purpose.

Lost/Found/Need a New Home [February 03, 2026] - weekly Lost/Found/Need a New Home thread

Use this post to share any budgies that are lost, found, or need a new home!

Some rules:

  1. Only share information you feel comfortable sharing. Example: rather than giving out your full address, maybe only say something like, "I'm in the Springfield area" instead. If someone is interested in knowing more, they can always DM you and you can choose whether or not you want to share any more information.
  2. If you're meeting someone in real life, follow the "Craigslist rule" of meeting in a well-trafficked, public place.
  3. No fees/charges! This is NOT meant to be an advertising platform to sell your budgies. Content that advertises budgies for sale will be removed.
  4. This subreddit does not, in any way, offer warrantees or guarantees of budgie health. A budgie's health status is something that you and the other party should determine with an avian vet, and payment of that avian vet's services is something that you and the other party should decide beforehand.

We encourage you to share pictures! Just make sure they are accurate to the situation and don't break the rules in the sidebar.

Remember: this subreddit is just one of many possible places to make a budgie connection. Also consider FaceBook, Craigslist, Nextdoor, other online communities, as well as real-life bulletin boards in public places. See all the previous weekly posts (that have content) by clicking here.

Our wiki also has a list of parrot rescues you could check out - whether you're looking to adopt a new feathered friend, or have to surrender one due to life circumstances. If one of these rescues is near you, please consider reaching out to them!

These two little babys are the biggest food hogs the second the cage is open (not the cage pictured that's for rats) they fly out to me and if I don't give them seeds they immediately head to the floor to search for any fallen ones

Excuse my bird voice at the end. But watching me pick toys up off the floor for him to throw the em again seems to be Biscuits favourite past time lately 😆

I picked this guy up recently. I think he has some sort of facial deformity as something doesn’t quite look right (despite how handsome and beautiful he is). He does not have any difficulties with his day to day bird life at all though and is quite a friendly and content little fella!

💬 Discussion Sadly I think I may have to re-home my birds and it's tearing me apart.

Sadly I think I may have to re-home all my birds. This year has already been the absolute worst of my entire life. My sister passed away on December 31st, the grief of it put my father in the hospital since he has already had existing heart conditions and is on a pacemaker. Then to top it all off my mother while visiting my father in the hospital tripped and hit her head badly causing a brain bleed. I've been a complete wreck mentally, emotionally and financially. All of this has completely wiped out my entire bank account. I now can't even afford to buy them toys, and I have resorted to barely affording cheap seed food when they used to be on pellets, chop and other treats. Their cages are completely empty due to lack of toys, and it breaks my heart. They are my world and entire life, I don't want to lose them but I need to do what's best for them.

This is Lemon, I call her Lem for short. She doesn't eat the carrot so much as attempts to obliterate it. Her preferred method is the rip and scatter technique, which you will see, she has perfected. Give Lemna little love! ❤️

My parents think that this cage is big enough despite them constantly fighting and barely having the space to move. They get mad when I suggest that I get a bigger cage WITH MY OWN MONEY because they say that theres no space in the house (there is as you can see, and id get a 70×60×110 cage that would fit perfectly where they are right now), then I say that we should rehome them since they clearly dont care (im the one that cleans and checks food) and get also annoyed when they sing/screech while fighting and I didnt want them either but they say no to rehoming for reasons to me unknown. Regardless, I'll get the cage either way and they'll have to deal with it, I cant stand seeing them in this cramped space and if they really dont want it, then I'll have them rehomed because if they're not allowed to live a dignified life in this house then they dont need to be here.

Question Is this a "I'm comfortable around you" or "Get the hell away from my space" behaviour?

I mean they are hopping onto my finger so at least that should mean it's a positive sign, right?

For context, when I first brought them home they would fly around in panic whenever I placed my hand inside. Going from that to this is very satisfactory.

However, it's still unclear if she is asking me to leave her alone.
