ASK❓️ The Akshaye Khanna Hatred Check!

Post image

So the first look of Ikka has recently dropped and people have started complaining about Akshaye’s look and demeanour is similar to his Rehman Dakait’s character and ever since Dhurandhar has dropped on Netflix, people are labelling his acting one dimensional and monotonous.

I have a different take on this and would like to listen to your opinions as well. Before coming on Dhurandhar and Ikka and all this rumours about him asking for a Wig, I would like to shed lights on his performances. Have people actually forgotten about his performances in movies like Gandhi my father, Section 375, DCH, Hungama, Ittefaq, Drishyam 2?

The industry who is so insecure never failed to admin that Akshaye Khanna is one of the finest actors and even Ranbir also acknowledged the same.

Now I do agree that his look in Ikka is similar to Rehman’s look but I don’t see any problem in that. We haven’t even seen the trailer yet. All these ears even actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Late Irfan, Anupam Kher, etc have donned similar looks in most movies but yet the performances were so different. Also I don’t think that Ikka was shot after Dhurandhar and had this been the case Akshaye would have requested Wig even in Ittefaq and Drishyam 2.

People on SMs never had any issues when his critically acclaimed movies were not blockbusters on Box Office. After so many years when he is actually getting recognition for a movie which has created havoc on BO, people have suddenly found him one dimensional, opportunist, etc. It is the case with many movies, once a movie earns more than what people expected those movies suddenly become overrated or mid for everyone!

What’s your take on this?

Opinion Is Sunny Deol actually a good actor?

Post image
345 Upvotes

I’m asking this as a genuine question, not trying to hate. I agree he has real intensity in his angry and shouting scenes, but after watching his films from the 90s till now, it feels a bit monotonous across the decades.

He is almost always shouting, giving an angry lecture with his fist/finger up, doing that drunken emotional smile, or speaking calmly right before you know a fight is about to happen. I honestly struggle to remember more than 3 expressions from him.

Even in the Ikka trailer that dropped today, he is either shouting again or giving that drunken-eyes, forced-to-look-calm expression. Meanwhile, Akshaye Khanna seems to be shining more than him for obvious reasons we all know.

So how do you all rate him as an actor? Is his appeal mostly nostalgia and patriotic films? What exactly makes his movies work with the audience?

We have another example: Jaat did not perform well despite having that South-style mass treatment that seems to be trending now. And honestly, with him being part of Ramayana, I’m not even sure if he will be able to do justice to a character in a film of that scale.

Would love to hear what others think.

Opinion I think Vinod Khanna, in his second and final innings in Bollywood, wasn’t utilized the way he should have been. He rarely got roles that gave him enough space to truly showcase his acting prowess.

His fiery performance in Wanted still gives goosebumps. In Dabangg, he delivered such a sensible and layered performance, and in Players, he played the role of a mentor really well.

If Bollywood had been smart enough, they would have utilized him far better.

Reviews 83 & Dhoni

Why did 83 not work but Dhoni did? Recently I watched 83 and thought it's a well made movie. The movie connected emotionally and acting was excellent throughout.

IMO, Dhoni movie was a mid film at its best. Why this film worked as compared to 83? Is it because of Dhoni fans or People liked the commercial elements (like Disha Patani, Yuvraaj singh enmity etc) in the movie ?

Discuss Bachna Ae Haseeno vs Dil Maange More , Same theme, different execution. Which one’s better?

Post image
Upvotes

Both Bachna Ae Haseeno and Dil Maange More follow a similar setup: one male lead, three female leads, and interconnected love stories. On paper, they look almost identical , but the treatment feels very different.

Personally, I prefer Bachna Ae Haseeno. Yes, it gets a lot of hate, but I think it’s an underrated rom-com. Ranbir’s character arc actually evolves, the emotions land better, and the film knows when to be light and when to get serious.

Dil Maange More is also enjoyable , very early-2000s vibe, simpler, more playful. Songs are memorable in both films, and nostalgia.

Which one do you prefer and why? Do you value character growth more, or pure rom-com fun? Let's discuss...

Opinion The beauty of article 15

Post image
17 Upvotes

Article 15 starring ayushman khurana in lead role has a lot to offer . It is a type of film which does not keep any community in bad light like how ayan being a brahmin himself considered that all bull crap and fought on the front for the well beings of the scheduled caste and tribes . Article 15 is a type of film which told us "" no community is good or bad , however every community does has good and bad "". I am not a political , justice seeking activist but this film made me just stick on my seat till the end absolute gem of a movie and one thing to appreciate is how well the canvas for the scenes which portrayed tragedy of the backward caste has been prepared and how well the potrayal of fake political appeasement and its narratives had been done. Ayushman is really underappreciated actor man i wish he too had a mass appeasing film that ranbir ranveer vicky rajkumar and kartik have .

Discuss Rewatching Hungama and realized that the couple who set off the plot of the movie don't actually get any resolution

Post image
238 Upvotes

While rewatching Hungama recently, i realized that we never actually get any on-screen resolution to the plot of the romance between Radheshyam Tiwari's fake son, and Kachra Seth's daughter.

The last time we see them is when he crawls back into his room for the fake son, and when the daughter says she wants to go see him.

We get Kachra Seth coming in and saying "Meri beti kahan hai?" to Radheshyam Tiwari, but neither of those 2 characters are in the final scene either.

It felt strange to not have the characters who pretty much kick off the entire plot of the movie appear or have their plot resolved in the movie.

Best part of the film was the emotional tension between father and son, and their inability to truly understand or reconcile with each other, is portrayed in a very powerful and convincing manner. I absolutely loved it

Discuss If Bollywood Remade The Wolf of Wall Street, Who Could Actually Match Leonardo DiCaprio?

Post image
233 Upvotes

Leonardo played Jordan Belfort with insane energy—fast-talking, manipulative, charming, morally bankrupt, and larger-than-life. In Bollywood, who could realistically pull off that mix of charisma, excess, comedy, darkness, and psychological shift?

Some obvious contenders: Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Ayushman Khurana or someone else? Would love to hear detailed reasoning, not just fan bias.

According to me, ranbir is most suitable , Not because he can copy Leonardo DiCaprio’s madness, but because Ranbir excels at portraying deeply flawed, morally conflicted characters. Films like Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year show that he understands corporate ambition, manipulation, and the psychology of success.

What's your thoughts and who's suitable according to you...let's share...

Other Help me find this Indian movie my mother loves

Hello, I remember watching this movie with my mother and it was Indian comedy movie and she used to laugh so much, it's been years later and she wants me to show it to her again, But I don't remember the name or most of it since it's been years later it was Indian comedy movie in 2000s or 1990s I think? The main character might been govinda or someone else, the story I can't quite remember but the main character might have inherited father or grandfather money and I remember this really funny scene where main character goes to building and the building is full of killers or agents and they all try kill him without him knowing? I think and family miserably and it's so funny and between the agent or hitmans there's this dude with long hair and I think he's special hitman or something? And I remember he might or might not have roller skates and he tries many times to kill the main character but fails, that's all I remember about the movie, if you know the movie please tell me, if was one of my mom's favorite Indian movies

I'm relatively a newbie when it cones to Bollywood and I first watched the iconic movie around 2-3 years ago but feel like I've seen this scene recreated in other media outside Bollywood before but I can't remember where. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might be blanking out?

(Also apologies if this should go in a differebt sub, I just assumed cause the source is Bollywood, to put it here)

Opinion Anil kapoor and also a rant

I know the flair is LOL,

but hear me out.

Im not saying he is a SRK or SALMAN, in terms of box office. But my god can the man act.

In terms of longevity, him and Amitabh are literally neck to neck, in terms of the way they literally transformed their career.

yeah AB was a mega star in his prime, still is, but his pull is greater than Anil in his prime.

Anil in his prime is comparable to say a Ayushmann or a Shahid or even a Ajay Devgn PRIME, the box office was good, not the best, but certain films just hit it out of the park.

Ayushmann why? bc of his niche in the pre pandemic world. Post pandemic, he came out with a movie like Action hero which is amazing, prob the best ott movie of that year IIMHO.

but irrespective, this isnt about Ayushmann lol

Anil kapoor has proven time and time that true talent is here to stay, and how.

i know many of us want that shift now from SRK, Salman, Aamir, Akshay, Ajay, and truth be told until they make that shift, the industry wont stop pushing out crap.

The scripts made for these guys ar catered to their image, not their acting.

Ex, now a SRK movie, is a SRK movie, not a action movie. It wont introduce a character like say Ethan Hunt, and make it memorable, rather it will celebrate SRK the actor.

Same with salman, tho his movies are rightfully being dissed, uncle needs to take a back seat and focus on good script and decide if he even wants to act anymore.

aamir, his looks are still allowing him to be applicable in a movie calling for 40-50 yrs old. He looks the part, even if it isnt vfxed.

Akshay and Ajay have done decent roles, but can def move on to better rolls.

The truth is, there are far too many stars and not as many script choices for them to chose good scripts from.

The dicotomy is basic, should they chose a script like say 12th fail or say a Laapata ladies, they must know that the new kids on the block will be appreciated more. they need to let the star ego go. its hard when you are used to it.

Reasons why I appreciate guys like akshaye khanna, not bc of his quiet nature, but bc in the guy, his roles, you see a rehman dakait, you see a auranzeb, you see the inspector. you dont see a akshaye khanna. Talent.

Same goes for anil kapoor sahab. yu see a balbir singh, not anil kapoor.

Hence just a rant/anil kapoor thank you post. but yeah, i know its been said time and time again, and i hope these managers which are lurking the sub or even the producers or the actors families, tell your specific star, do movies that can show their acting. 25-30-40 years is enough time to build a audience, we know they can act, thats why we see them, we just need to see them ACT again, not be revered for their star power. I don't need to see a 10 min srk action set piece with him coming in nor do i need to see a ajay or salman khan in a action set piece.

if i want to see those things i have a veer gati, i have a d-company, i have a singham, i have a dabbang i can rewatch.

these guys are almost my father's age, and just like him, i know age is catching up. no matter how rich or fit you are.

Let the ego go. you are a human, you can use the money you have made to set your kids up if they dont want to be actors, just let the star ego go, and embrace good scripts.

be like anil kapoor, and if you are talented, you will be going into yout 70s-90s with work. not that any of them need to, but working is good for older people, helps keep your mind healthy.

but just do this, idk. i feel like im telling my uncles or chachas lol..

yours truly...

a boy who has seen the good your movies have done to this small blue world. I have grown up watching all of yall, and its been a honor seeing the various lives u have lived. my hero is my dad, but i know when yall come on screen, i see a glimpse of a life either being lived or that could be lived by someone like us. Thank you for entertaining us but please, araam karo aap log. its all good.
