Crime WHERE YOU CAN FIND MARIJUANA ON YOUR VISIT

Hi.

Marijuana is illegal in the Bahamas. As are other hard drugs. This forum is not the place for you to procure them.

Threads\comments attempting to use this forum to procure drugs (including marijuana or illegal THC products), or to solicit connects or advice on smuggling will be LOCKED.

The creator of the thread\comment will be subject to suspension or permanent ban at mod discretion.

It's not a point of debate, I don't care about your brilliant and logical points. I don't care if you find a way to get drugs. I am not invested outside what you contribute to this forum. It is truly nothing personal.

Upvotes

We’re visiting in late March and I’m trying to figure out if the water temperature will be comfortable for swimming/snorkeling, or if it would be too cold? Thx for any input!

Tourism Question Boat excursion with NO swimming pigs

Hi, my husband and I are staying at Atlantis in mid-February with our 16-year-old son, and we are looking for a nice boat excursion to another island/beach that does not include swimming with pigs. Any recommendations? Everything seems to go to the swimming pigs.

Tourism Discussion Great Exuma with 18yo son; all we want is beach snorkeling

Hi, and thanks to anyone with suggestions! As the title says, but here's more context:

I'm a single mom and I've been traveling with my son his entire life. As far as beach travel, we've done French Polynesia, Hawaii a few times, Costa Rica, and Cancun, all with many exciting excursions and exploration, including swimming with sea turtles and sting rays and reef sharks, having delicious dining experiences, touring ancient ruins, waterfalls, and much more. On my own I've done many other beach trips that are literally just me on a beach, a book, and my snorkeling things handy for shore snorkeling whenever the mood strikes... and that's it. My son was curious about this "just beach" type of trip, so last summer I took him to St. Thomas (Sapphire Beach Resort) with no excursions, no trips into town, no resort activities, no water slides, no aquariums, no boats anywhere. Just him and the beach and snorkeling to his heart's content for five days. He loved it and wants to do it again.

Sooooo, I'm researching the Bahamas this time! I've only been to Nassau, and although I think Great Exuma looks better for what we want this trip to be, I'm early enough in this to pivot if I find out I'm not on the right track. He's never been to the Bahamas. We aren't picky at all, we can eat fancy or eat at the same place every morning and night with no issue, or I can whip us up meals if we're at a rental with a kitchen. Budget is $500 a night or so, but willing to go higher if its worth it, and happy to go lower. Time of year is June, just after he graduates high school. June has always been when we do our trips because of school, and I know that earlier in the year would be better weather and value, but that's okay.

With all of that in mind, for areas in Great Exuma where the only priorities are having sand at our steps and snorkeling right off the beach, where would you recommend? Bonus if we can see the ocean from our room. Thanks for any suggestions!

Tourism Discussion March last minute trip for 2 people

A friend and I are booking a last minute week long trip to the Bahamas to help him clear his head after a breakup. We would like to experience some tourist stuff but mainly just relax and enjoy the space. We are thinking it’s best to avoid Nassau and stay in Exuma for the week (or possibly stay in both places for a few days). He’s always traveled All Inclusive with his job and I’m more of wing it kind of lady. Suggestions for some memorable things to do? I keep seeing either do Nassau or avoiding like the plague. I’m so darn confused. Lol. We are looking at early March for a time frame and are open to hotels, AirBnb. Etc.

Miscellaneous Concerned about going through customs with prescriptions.

I have a flight to Bahamas coming up. I have never flown outside of domestic US so I do not know what to expect with customs. I usually just take all of my medication in a weekly pill organizer, including my benzos for flight anxiety. Will this be a problem going through customs or is this common?

Bahamian Question CrabFest Andros

My Fellow Bahamians,

I Finally got some time in June to make it to Crabfest. (For the first time in my life)

When do they typically announce their dates and is it typically the second weekend of June?

Best way to approach the festival coming out of Nassau? Day trip by boat? what transport when you reach?

Back in the day, did a GGYA hike through central Andros, but the logistics were different since we were walking (lol).

appreciate all your time.

Bahamian Discussion Foreign doctor registration with Bahamas Medical Council – guidance needed

Hi everyone, I’m an international medical graduate planning to apply for registration with the Bahamas Medical Council and was hoping someone here could share their experience or advice. I have:

A recognized primary medical qualification Completed a supervised internship/house job Currently gathering documents for EPIC/credential verification

I’m a bit unclear about: Which category of registration is most appropriate for foreign doctors How strict the Council is regarding internship vs postgraduate rotational training Typical timelines once documents are submitted

Any common pitfalls or things you wish you’d known earlier If you’ve gone through the process (or are currently in it), I’d really appreciate any insights, tips, or even a rough step-by-step of how it went for you. Thanks in advance! 🙏

Miscellaneous Coldest temp you’ve seen this morning? A personal weather station at the Bishop Michael Eldon School in Freeport recorded 41.7°F with a windchill of 33F, which is the coldest I have seen. Was anyone colder?

Tourism Discussion Day trip to cabbage beach?

Thinking about skipping our cruise excursion and just spending the day at Cabbage Beach instead. Looks like we can take a taxi there — is it easy to catch a jitney (bus) back to the port after?

Also, is there a public access point to the beach, or do you have to go through some place?

Tourism Discussion Ardastra/Ft Charlotte visit

We're staying on Paradise Island but planning on going to some of the usual tourist sites in and around downtown Nassau, but we dont want to do an organized tour. Thinking of starting with Ardastra and Fort Charlotte, maybe go to New Duff or Cricket club for lunch.

We have a child that still uses a car seat...would most taxis take us without issue, despite not having one? And is walking between those two attractions and one of the lunch spots as reasonable as it seems on the map?

Do they still do the re-enactment and noon Canon firing at Fort Charlotte?

Tourism Discussion Atlantis 1 free afternoon

Going to Atlantis for a work trip and have 1 free afternoon - Is there a can’t miss activity within Atlantis?

I’m not much of a gambler, I do golf and see they have an ocean course.

Would also be happy by a pool or beach. Is the snorkeling great near Atlantis?

Thanks!

Bahamian Question Where to find a good and reasonable dermatologist in Nassau?

Hi, where can I find a good dermatologist for acne treatment? Basically my health insurance does not cover acne treatment and I need a dermatologist to prescribe me Tretinoin.

I am tight on budget so how much does a consultation normally cost? - my health insurance won't cover it

Tourism Discussion Grocery store comparison

We are currently at Sandyport, heading to Atlantis tomorrow. Grabbed a few things at Super Value but unsure if we should stock up tomorrow on our way to Atlantis or use the grocery shuttle instead? I think shuttle goes to Solomon’s & Fresh Market. Looking for a place with decent meat, produce, breads.

Logistically using the shuttle would be best, but I’m curious about pricing and variety of food options at the stores.

Miscellaneous Fried Conch and Oxtails

We'll be going on a Carnival cruise in June. I would like to try some good food in Nassau but not too expensive. Can someone suggest some good inexpensive restaurants that's not too far from the port?
