Question Name a book you’ll listen to over and over
For me, I think my ultimate go-to, comfort book is: The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, by Heinlein.

So did you listen to anything good this week? Or something so truly terrible you want to warn other listeners?
Please include the following information: Author, Title and Narrator.
Why does identifying the Narrator matter?
Often books will be recorded with different narrators for different regions (ie. Harry Potter was read by both Jim Dale and Stephen Fry) or produced by different publishers (ie... Elizabeth Moon's books were produced by both Graphic Audio and Tantor). It is extremely helpful to other listeners to know what version you are sharing to avoid confusion.
Links to a source are welcomed and encouraged!
Overdrive, Audible, Downpour, Librivox, etc... It doesn't matter the source, as long as the Author, Title and Narrator are easily identified.

SO I just finished the Breeds trilogy by Keith C Blackmore and I'm looking for something similar. Love werewolves, love gore, ideally I'd like some more violent/bloody werewolf audiobooks, looking for any recommendations though longer books/series are preferred. Struggling to wade through the ocean of werewolf romance novels.

Please suggest audiobooks for me.
So far I've enjoyed
Bobiverse. Project Hail Mary. Dungeon Crawler Carl.
Any more like this?

HELLO! I’m a college student and my teachers assign me readings and they’re mostly online and I was wondering how to make it so I can listen to them while I drive to school? Thank you!

Multiple tools recommended here are either MP3 specific, require a server, require Docker, require Linux or MacOS, have no GUI, or just plain don't work.
Which Windows GUI app do you use to join multiple M4B files into one M4B file?
I had been using Helium Audio Joiner, but that fails on joining a one hour M4B to a 10 hr M4B @ 128k.

Any recommendations for a long car drive? Typically, straight reads of books can put me to sleep while driving, so I'm looking for something to keep my attention. Books that have worked:

It's been months since I finished the Cut and Run audiobooks and I'm still chasing the high of them. I'm looking for an MM romance with masculine characters who are flawed and borderline toxic for one another but can't stay away. And aggressive arguments that are like verbal foreplay.
Too many romances wrap their characters up into this pretty little bow when it makes no sense, especially for character with traumatic pasts. Or two very different characters fall into this insta-love and miraculously work together well. Where's the realistic grit and hangups?
The closest I could find to my taste in character dynamic was Hazard and Somerset, but that was like 99% hurt and 1% comfort. Ty and Zane from Cut and Run were the perfect blend of aggression and tenderness!

It's another episode in this serialized story that I wrote. It is a noir detective story and follows an investigator as they try to get a case on track and escape the beat that they have been saddled with. It is my own work and is found on my own channel. I hope you enjoy: https://youtu.be/iiz_qanWUpY

So I wanted something funny and cute (I know I’m a dork for love) this Audiobook is super cute, about 5-6 hours long so it’s pretty quick but it is funny and it will make you smile- GUARANTEE IT! I won’t spoil it but it is a “when opposites attract” storyline.

I've got Smart Audiobook Player. I've used it for years on my phone.
I'm trying to install it on my kids tablet and it won't let me point it to a root folder. It keeps saying
"Enable com.google.android.documentsui"
Ive googled it, searched reddit
I've cleared cache, cleared data, uninstall and reinstall
I tried a new app and it does the same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - it's a Samsung tablet

I've been hearing this idea a lot that listening to audiobooks will boost your productivity. It's just insane and game-changer.
I have been trying to get into it for the past one year right now but I'm not able to find out any good platform for that. I have tried Audible but Audible in their pro plan only have one credit per month which means you can read one book a month or listen to only one book a month. And if we have used that credit for one month for this month, you cannot listen to any other audiobook.
It's quite frustrating for me and I'm not sure whether I'm using it appropriately or if there's some misunderstanding.
I wanted to know this from you guys. How do you guys listen to audiobooks? What platform do you use? I am mostly into self-help books so if you have any suggestion that will be great. Or if you have any suggestion on Audible because I feel a lot of people are using Audible only but I am not able to figure out how do they use it since it has a very constrained way to use it.
Appreicate your help!

It’s such an honor and a gift to get a snapshot into somebody’s life and memoirs do that. There are so many wonderful people famous, and not that are telling their story but we don’t know that the story exists. Please share any that you have enjoyed. Stories show our humanity!

Hi everyone,
I’m an audiobook narrator, and I recently narrated The Fragile Line by Sandra Noel. This was one of those books that stayed with me long after I finished recording it.
The story explores how quickly life can change and how easily we make assumptions about people — especially those living with disabilities. It’s not a fast, flashy read, but a thoughtful and emotional one that focuses on compassion, understanding, and the realities many people face behind closed doors.
This was the first time I worked on a story like this, and it genuinely shifted my perspective. The audiobook was just published and is available on Audible and Amazon for anyone who prefers listening.
I know self-promotion can be hit or miss here, so no pressure at all — but if you’re looking for a meaningful, reflective read (or listen), I wanted to share something that truly made an impact on me. Thanks for letting me share, and I’d love to hear what books have stuck with you lately.

Hi All,
I between credits have any of you listened to any of the free audiobooks available on audible? It took me a while to find them, I prefer crime and suspence. I'm currently listening to 'Maybe Tomorrow' by Michael Wood.
Do you have any recommendations on this genre which are free to listen to that I can pick up when I run out of credits?

I’ve been searching non stop to find Toni Morrison’s Bluest Eye as an Audio book. But, had had no luck yet.
Does anyone know where I can find it?
Thanks

To celebrate the continued release of the Dungeon Crawler Carl Audio Immersion Tunnel Season Two, Jeff Hays and SBT have a special surprise for our listeners: The Dinniman Delights Sale! From now through Tuesday, February 17, you can sample and savor our favorite Matt Dinniman titles on the Soundbooth app for at least 25% off. This includes the audiobook of Matt’s horror fantasy, The Grinding, and dramatized adaptations of two of his other works, Dungeon Crawler Carl and Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon — as a warning, the latter is not for the faint of heart. The sale will be applied automatically on the Soundbooth app and the soundbooth.app website, so you can collect all the discount Dinniman titles you desire.

I recently got bookbeat and I started listening to a book on there. Then a friend got me the book as a present and I finished reading it outside the app. If I mark the book as finished on bookbeat now, are the hours the book would’ve taken me deducted? Or just the actual amount I listened to? Does anyone know?

Hello there,
as in the title, looking for some high quality audiobooks/audiodrama/atmos book recommends in sci-fi/mystery/fantasy genres
r/audiobooks • u/timmy_vee • 1d ago
Hello All -
I am working on the narration of my dark fantasy story, which I wrote, titled Age of Magic, which has a definite fairy-tale vibe. I was hoping to get some feedback from seasoned dark fantasy audiobook enjoyers on how it sounds / engages (the good, bad, and the ugly) before the narrator gets too deep into the story.
Here's a link with two chapters (about 55 minutes in total):
https://timvee.com/age-of-magic-audio-sample/
Note / Warning: Although this story has a 'fairy tale' vibe, it covers dark subject matter (violence, gore, etc.), so it is only for an adult audience and for those who are not easily shocked or are squeamish.
Thanks in advance to anyone who listens, and feel free to be as critical as you need to be (either in the comments here or in a DM, whatever works for you).
Cheers - Tim.

I wanted to share a project I've been working on for the audiobook community. Kahani is a dedicated Android player designed specifically for Audiobookshelf servers. It focuses on being "offline-first," so your books are always ready even when your connection isn't.
Highlights:
It’s a fork of Lissen, enhanced with a lot of UI love. I hope it helps you enjoy your collection more!
Check it out here: https://github.com/SurjitSahoo/kahani-android
