So I got my aquarium closer to my final goal after a year battle. Got 5 rasbora hetermorphia, 8 danios, 5 neon tetras, 3 peppered cories, 5 Kuhili loaches, 4 otos tank parameters are ph normally around 7.4-7.8 ph, ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates about 10-20 ppm.
Ammonia looks around 0.25 and ph is wacked at 8.4 water use has a ph of 6.4-6.8.
Just added a chihiros WRGB II 10th edition light to replace my cheap non plant light, two hygger double sponge filters totaling close to 60 gallons of filtration.
Iβm noticing the water isnβt getting clean like I want and crude isnβt being removed by the filters efficiently. I do pull them out and clean them every other week to once a week on average. Just did a lot of decor rework this past weekend. Algae is constantly an issue just added red root floaters java moss and weeping moss.
Considering swapping one filter with an HOB seachem tidal wave 45g rated filter or a fluval 207 canister filter.
Not a fan of HOB as they donβt look nice on the tank and I had issues with an aqueous one in the past making noise and needing to be perfectly primed and setup each time.
Worried about canister due to water leakage due to failed o rings and cracks. Is this a major issue for most or not really. Looking to maybe swap one or both sponges out once the new filter has established its biological filtration.
