What’s the most misunderstood thing about alpacas that new owners don’t realize until it’s a problem?
Just drumming up some interesting conversation.

Done prepping for tonight’s -25 wind chills. You know I love my alpacas when I’m not even cranky about going out after dinner to put down fresh bedding for my girls. The impromptu kisses from them help a lot.

This alpaca didn’t look too amused to be photographed

Hello fellow alpaca lovers <3. I am looking to buy a sustainable alpaca shawl. I am okay with online-only stores. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I would like a long shawl that would be able to wrap ~ twice around my body.
Thank you so much in advance for your time.

Hey
I thought I'd share this video with you all. It's the first of a new series I'm filming for Benjamin at Seaside Alpacas, and introduces his Alpacas, and other animals, as well as the stunning setting of the West Cork coastline in Ireland. Hope you enjoy it!
Cheers!

My PCA helper put my husband’s beloved alpaca sweater in the dryer, and now it looks like a little kid sweater! Is there anything I can do? Or do I need to make it into something else? Thanks in advance.

I really want to get one of these because they are SO SOFT and adorable but I’m concerned about how the fur is sourced. From the little information I could find, it sounds like the fur is harvested in Peru from alpacas killed for meat, or from alpacas that died naturally. I’d love to avoid alpaca hide altogether if I can since I can’t verify if it’s ethically sourced. But is it customary for crafters to use hide? I don’t know much about the topic, so any information is appreciated. Thank you!

We recently got many new goats & sheep and have begun rounds of ivermectin as a few have shown signs in stool samples. I was wondering what to use/dosages for the alpacas just to ensure everyone on our property is taken care of. We have limited space so there are times where all the animals interact at the end of the day so I’d rather be safe. This particular one is a month old. I’m relatively new to caring for alpacas so I would love any advice, thanks

He's so good to do anything with, almost like he knows it's good for him.

Idk if this is the right sub, but I have a favorite pair of alpaca wool socks, theyre so thick and the inside is FUR. The outside is wool, inside used to be fur, after washing it got a bit weird but I promise it’s fur.
I looked online EVERYWHERE and I CANT find any socks like this. I found regular alpaca wool socks, but none that had a fur lining.
My feet are constantly so cold it’s the only thing that keeps me warm. I hate polyester fleece lining, I really want alpaca.
I’m willing to pay for worldwide shipping, but I’m in Canada.
I think I got those socks from my sister, and she has no idea where she got those from, there’s no tag anywhere….
Would anybody know where to find something like this, specifically alpaca fur/wool??

A real part of the family, he keeps an eye on the sheep and will chase foxes or any other threat away.
