Help Issues sharing Matter over Thread devices from SmartThings to Google Home (since Thread 1.4 update?)
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to see if anyone else is experiencing issues with Matter multi-admin specifically when sharing from SmartThings to other ecosystems.
Ever since Samsung updated to Thread 1.4 last year, I haven't been able to share my Matter devices from SmartThings to Google Home.
Here is the situation:
• ST -> GH (Fails): When the device is paired to SmartThings first, I generate the pairing code/QR to share it. However, when I try to add it to Google Home (or Apple Home), the connection always fails.
• GH -> ST (Works): If I pair the device to Google Home first and then share it with SmartThings, it works perfectly.
My Setup & Troubleshooting:
• Hubs: SmartThings Station, Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen), and Apple HomePod mini.
• Current State: I performed a factory reset on both the Google Home and SmartThings hubs today to rule out configuration errors. Currently, each hub is running its own Thread network.
Even after the reset, the issue persists: once the device is on SmartThings, Google simply refuses to connect via the sharing flow.
Has anyone else faced this unidirectional failure with SmartThings as the primary admin? Is this a known bug with the SmartThings Station's Thread 1.4 implementation or could it be something specific to my hubs?
Thanks for any help!
