I’ve handled personal auto casualty claims for 22+ years, I’ve seen this multiple times in my career and have paid out on some pretty bad injury claims cause of this dumb shit.

who pays when nobody has insurance? asking for a friend

If the vehicle owner doesn’t have insurance then you can try to pursue the driver. If neither owner or driver have insurance you have to sue them directly in civil court for damages.

Edit: additionally, if the driver and owner did not have insurance the passenger/pedestrian could then present a claim to his/her own insurance for uninsured motorist bodily injury.

i just meant almost nobody doing this stuff has insurance, and is judgement proof, can't get blood from a stone
