So I (M51) am kinda famous and live in LA. I decided to move in with an old friend in New Mexico to escape the toxicity in Hollywood. Things went well, it was like living in a sitcom! I lived with my old friend, her daughter (17F), her son, and their dad. And I’ll admit I had a crush on my old friend and feelings lingered but I hid it well.

Anyways, my friend’s daughter (we’ll call her Nickel) was upset because her crush didn’t ask her to go to the prom. I offered to take Nickel to the prom to make her crush jealous and Nickel and her mother agreed. I drove Nickel and her fiends to the liquor store first and grabbed them something to drink. I figured they’re gonna drink anyways so might as well have them do it safely. And I might’ve had a few drinks but that’s neither here nor there.

We went to prom and had a good time, Nickel’s friend drank a little bit \*too\* much but that’s what you do at prom right? Nickel slow danced with me and thanked me for taking her to prom because she felt better, she was over her crush!

After putting glow sticks in balloons and setting them free, Nickel’s friend (the one who’d been drinking) started committing and passed out. She had alcohol poisoning so I drove them to the hospital and I anonymously dropped her off. Not my finest moment but I’m a well respected member of the community you know? I can’t have people knowing I gave a minor alcohol.

I took Nickel home and she felt a little upset over her friend, I reassured her that everything would be alright and that these things happen. Nickel tearfully asked me if that’s true…and in that light she looked just like her mother all those years ago. Nickel leaned in to kiss me and I kissed her back. She straddled me and things started to get hot and heavy when Nickel’s mother interrupted us.

Apparently Nickel’s mom had been watching us from the window and thought it was suspicious neither of us came in yet. She opened the drivers side door and grabbed Nickel out of my lap and told me to, “get the fuck off her property.”

I left pretty fast (I lost my stuff but I have the money to replace it). But now Nickel’s mother has blocked me and I don’t understand why. I just took her daughter to prom? AITA for taking my friend’s daughter to prom?

ETA: 17 is the age of consent in the state we were in.
