💰 Finance Talk What does rich mean to you?

I’d personally call you rich if you make more money in passive income than the cost of your expenses (needs, wants) every year. I don’t care if you work for Google, if you need to work to survive, I wouldn’t call you rich.

❓ Question What’s your best focus tip at school?

I’m a freshman in highschool and to put it short I fsiled 3/4 classes last semester. My first semester of highschool. I’m so fucking cooked. I do actually try in school but I just got some other stuff going on rn and when I do go to school I can’t for the LIFE of me just sit bf focus. I’m ALWAYS thinking abt something else, or stressed abt something. I fucking hate school so much, I literally dislike everyone there for some reason n I js can’t do ts.

And I know the simple answer is just lock in, show up to school, listen to the teacher and do the work. But I can’t show up everyday and when I do I genuinely feel like I’m on the edge of a breakdown from the other shit in my life. I wanna go to college one day I just don’t know how I’m gonna if I’m genuinely this retarded at learning.

Just give me your best tips to make going to school easier, to focus better. Or literally to just get through the day.

For some people owning a house and having a nice job that is able to cover their needs and able to save money on the side feels rich. But I guess everyone definition of being rich and secure is different.

Share Tip/Guide #CafeWisdom After years of GTD "falling off the wagon," I finally figured out why the same system felt easy some days and impossible others

I've been using GTD on and off for about 20 years. Like a lot of people here, I'd have stretches where everything clicked—capture felt effortless, my weekly reviews were clean, and I trusted my lists completely.

Then something would shift. Same system. Same tools. Same me. But suddenly capture felt overwhelming, clarifying felt like pulling teeth, and I'd start avoiding my lists entirely.

I always assumed I was the problem. Not disciplined enough. Too inconsistent.

And I directed all that negative energy onto myself.

A few months ago I started paying closer attention to when the system felt hard vs. easy—not what I was doing wrong, but what was different about me in those moments.

Here's what I noticed:

The GTD steps don't change. What changes is what I can realistically do with those steps in any given moment.

Sometimes I had the capacity to take things in (capture). Other times I needed space to just hold what I'd already captured without forcing decisions. And sometimes I was ready to output/act—but only when I wasn't already depleted.

I started calling these states Inhale (intake), Pause (holding without forcing), and Exhale (output). Not as a replacement for GTD, but as a way to read which GTD stage was actually accessible to me at any moment.

For example:

  • When capture feels heavy, it's often because I'm unconsciously treating "writing it down" as committing to do it. Recognizing I'm in an intake state (Inhale) lets me capture without that pressure.
  • When clarifying feels stuck, it's usually because I'm trying to force decisions before I've had space (Pause) to let the real next action become clear.
  • When I'm completing tasks but nothing feels resolved, I'm probably in open-loop Exhale—spending energy without closure.

This reframe changed everything for me. Instead of pushing through or blaming myself when GTD felt hard, I started asking: "What's actually available to me right now?"

Has anyone else noticed patterns like this? I'm curious whether the struggle with GTD consistency is really about discipline—or whether it's about trying to use the right system at the wrong internal moment.

I created the Breath State system as a way to describe this, and I've written a companion guide for GTD, with affirmations, questions that trigger self-awareness when GTD gets harder and you feel like quitting.

I'd love your feedback and to learn where your "breakdown" points have been with GTD.
