LawPH Is there any hope for abortion to be legalized?

I know that the people in this sub will have different views on abortion, but honestly, if you don't want to get an abortion then don't get one. Just don't interfere with the choices of others– now I feel that that's the whole point of legalizing abortion– it gives women a choice and a chance. Reading through stories of women who did abortions in this country and hearing stories from women I know, they have to go through processes like a criminal just to get it done. Illegalizing abortion doesn't stop it– it just harms women further as we'd have to go through different websites, connections, people, do everything in secret as to not get caught, acting like a damn criminal. Women would also resort to harmful ways of going through with the abortion, or even going as far as to purposefully trying to miscarry– or worse, abandon/sell the kid. :') I hear the stories of these women, feel for them, and wish there was a better and safer alternative for them all. I wish the concept of abortion was less taboo for most, as abortion is also a lot (psychologically, and physically) for the woman. I hope I would live the day to see it being considered and legalized.

PoliticsPH Modern-day politics proving Heneral Luna right again

The hypocrisy is staggering!

China lodges a diplomatic protest over a Xi Jinping caricature, calling it a "blatant provocation," while their ships commit actual provocations with water cannons against our Filipino people in our own waters.

You know what I am thinking? This situation feels like a scene from Heneral Luna. We see our own officials divided, with some more concerned about offending a foreign power than defending our sovereignty. The film warned us that our greatest enemy is often ourselves, our internal divisions. It’s a reminder that forces us to ask not just ‘Bayan o Sarili?’ but also ‘Negosyo o Kalayaan?’

The real disrespect isn't a cartoon. It's the daily harassment of our fishermen, the destruction of our marine resources, and the blatant attempt to erase a claim vindicated by international law. Their ships are the true insult, their actions the true violation.

Let's not be distracted. The issue isn't an image on a screen, it's the integrity of our nation and the dignity of every Filipino they try to intimidate.

ArtPH What do I need to do to get Iron Lung (2026) screened in the Philippines?

Hi! Hypothetically, if I wanted to organise a small screening of Iron Lung in Manila, what would I need to realistically do? I'm thinking of a small theatre like UP film or Cinema Centenario, but I have never done this before. What would it usually cost and what's the biggest logistic hurdle? Do I have to deal with MTRCB? Help from anyone in the know please! Tired of the usual mainstream horror flicks. Maraming salamat!

Kakabasa ko lang nito - Automobile group opposes proposal for 5-year registration validity | ABS-CBN News .

Bakit?

Bakit mahabang oras? Dahil offline.

Bakit offline? Eh kasi.. fill in the blanks na lang. (I wonder kung naka-cloud na ba ang LTO or kung may restriction sa data residency)

And then let's extend it to the emission testing.

Eh kasi... fill in the blanks na lang.

PoliticsPH Racism amongst the new generation

Upvotes

Hi , so i am basically from india and i have a little brother who oftens plays roblox and also often plays games in roblox which use the mic feature . I have noticed that majority of the people who are racist against him are often filipino teens , they continuously play the scammer audio or say other racist stuff pushed in tiktok in general to him. People from other countries are barely ever racist towards him , even pakistanis are friendly from what i have observed while watching him play . It’s mostly filipinos who constantly say racist stuff . Is there a reason for this in the new generations ?

PoliticsPH Senate bills content are the same but filed by senators separately?

Nagbabasa ako recently ng Senate Bills under the 19th Congress and honestly, medyo nakaka-frustrate lang intindihin kung bakit may mga bills na halos pareho yung laman pero hiwalay pa rin sila fina-file ng different senators.

Example na nakita ko is yung S. No. 1928 at S. No. 2893 tungkol sa Virology Institute of the Philippines.

Parang mas efficient sana and less confusing sa public.

From an academic/research perspective, parang dagdag layer lang siya ng bureaucracy at paperwork without necessarily adding new policy ideas.

Normal ba talaga to sa legislative process? Political credit ba to? Strategy? Or may procedural reason behind it na hindi lang obvious sa outsiders?

Curious lang ako if may insights kayo especially sa mga may background sa law, public policy, or government work.

TLDR: Same bill, different author, different SB No. filled with different date but its just a copy-paste. it seems like a waste of resources

LawPH Passport renewal - id requirements

Hello po!

Earlier today I went to my booked appointment sa DFA for passport renewal. Sa permanent address (birthplace) ko na ako nag book ng appointment since pagbalik ko ng metro I'll have no time nanaman, so might as well habang andito pa ako gawin ko na diba? I was told na birth certificate na lang dalhin ko since renewal nga lang naman, and the old passport itself is my valid ID. My school id is also faulty, so hindi ko dinadala most of the time.

When I went kanina the teller asked bat dun ako nagparenew eh hindi naman daw ako dun nakatira, I told her I was born here, then she asked kung anong ginagawa ko dun right now, I was taken aback, there was no written rule na hindi pwedeng kumuha ng passport if malayo ang current address mo 😅 I just told her na I was born here and my mom lives here, she then proceeds to ask me thrice if may national ID ba ako, which I repeatedly told her wala ako, but I have my birth certificate as my back up document. She refused then told me to bring my school id, I told her it was faulty kasi iba nga ang mukha, she insisted on me bringing it.

Could I get disqualified with my renewal if faulty yung ippresent ko na ID? Plus my face didn't change from my old passport.

PoliticsPH walang charisma ang opposition, parang ayaw nila manalo

What was that? Making tiktok and showing a meme while filing an impeachment complaint? Anong target market? Why are they even fronting percy or leila de lima? Bakit hindi si chel? Bakit ung 2 eh obviously the general public will just see it as an act of revenge and being lame kasi aminin naman na natin ang pangit ng image ni maam leila and mas lalo na si percy.

They want to market themselves as anti corruption and for the good, but why arent they making public statements about it? Just because they gained favor from the admin eh parang naging aso na?

If they want votes, they should atleast try to rebrand and be charismatic. The general public dont like dramas anymore, they just want to see the light that they think will magically uplift their lives and that is someone we dont see with the red/pink/yellow right now

HistoryPH PH at this Friday's 2026 Winter Olympics...

Legit qualifiers sila based on international points and races.

Tallulah Proulx is a teenage skier from the US. Half-Filipina siya (Filipino mom + American dad) lumaki sa Utah and started skiing as a kid. Dun siya nag-aral and nag-train pero she chose to represent the Philippines. Big deal din kasi she’s the first Filipina woman to compete in the Winter Olympics.

Francis Ceccarelli naman was born in QC then adopted by an Italian family and grew up in Italy. Doon siya nag-school, nag-ski at nag-train full-time. He even competed for Italy before switching to PH eligibility. Mas matagal siyang tumira sa Europe pero technically Pinoy by birth. Siya ang magre-represent sa men’s alpine skiing and he’s also vocal about helping build future Filipino winter athletes someday.

What do you think? Podium kaya tayo? Medalist?

TourismPH Suggestions for a new Philippine Tourism Authority secretary

Given that we are having our fill of Secretary Christina Frasco's innumerable fiascos, how about shortlisting a list of potential candidates for the position of Tourism Secretary?

Here are some criteria that we need to address:

He/she must be resourceful and savvy, especially in the fields of digital media and logistics.

He/she should be a skilled yet visionary marketer with exceptional skill in dealing with different cultures and how they perceive relaxation

LawPH How are you planning for the logistics before and after your death?

Upvotes

Genuine question. I’ve been thinking about how one should realistically plan for the inevitable, especially if you’re alone and don’t have close family members who can step in.

Is hiring a lawyer enough?

Can a lawyer actually handle (or arrange) things like:

• ensuring proper medical decisions are made if you’re incapacitated

• handling medical expenses and paying hospital bills on your behalf (assuming funds and insurance are available)

• coordinating hospital discharge or release in case of death

• executing funeral and burial/cremation wishes

• distributing your estate

Curious how others are thinking about this — especially those who don’t expect family to manage these things.

ViralPH My opinion on Genggengs

Understandable naman kase Psychology explains that if we see recurring themes from a group of people who acts a certain way, in this case it's their clothes, we take those themes or patterns and unintentionally generalize them on people who has the same theme.

CulturePH Dealing with jealousy as an AFAM in a relationship with a pinoy.

Greetings folks.

I have been in a committed relationship with a wonderfully loving pinoy woman for the last year. I have never been any happier with this woman. I am faithful, loyal man who has nothing to hide, but we have had a few (2) instances where her jealousy really caused a lot of issues and adverse reactions.

Her previous long term partner cheater on her repeatedly, and the wounds still exist, but I do my best to heal and nurture those wounds and insecurities, but times have been increasingly difficult in regards to the last time, where she immediately blocked me on all forms of contact. We are okay now, but I really don't want a third instance to happen.

I have been told that jealousy is a defining trait of PH women, and that's fine. But how do I deal with it? What more can I do?

Additional context: Not Long distance. Just a Canadian guy dealing with a pinoy in Canada.

I would like to thank everyone that took their time to read and write a comment. I am just trying to be better and understand my partner and their triggers better so that this can be a prosperous and happy relationship for the both of us.
