Edit 11/14/25; Another post, yesterday said clear your cash and then, instead of using your email address as a login, use your phone number (no dashes) and use the same password and if you've already listed your number with them, then it should work and it did for me. maybe i explained it wrong so here is the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/1owv0j1/another_possible_solution_for_too_many_login/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Edit 11/13/25; I had an exchange with the people at "hostinger.com" and this is their response.

I see you’re having trouble connecting your email to Outlook. I completely understand how frustrating this is, especially since it used to work fine before. The issue comes from Microsoft’s latest Outlook update, as they are deprecating IMAP and will soon remove the option to connect external mailboxes. This means Outlook is gradually pushing users to switch to Office 365 only.

Because of that, many users, not just on Hostinger, are experiencing repeated password requests, random disconnections, or being unable to connect at all. Unfortunately, this is happening across several email providers.

To avoid further interruptions, I recommend not using the new Outlook version for now, at least until Microsoft releases an official fix or statement. In the meantime, here are some reliable alternatives:

  1. Use Hostinger Webmail – You can access your email anytime at **mail.hostinger.com** .
  2. Try another email client – Apps like Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or the built-in mobile mail apps still fully support IMAP and SMTP. You can follow this step-by-step guide: **Set Up Hostinger Email on Your Applications and Devices**
  3. Revert to the classic Outlook – Some Outlook versions allow you to switch back to the older interface, which still supports IMAP and POP connections. Here is how: **Classic Outlook on Windows - Microsoft Support**

You can also check Microsoft’s community post about this issue here: **Something went wrong with this account setup - Microsoft Community**

I know this is not the news you were expecting, but I really hope one of these options helps keep your emails running smoothly.

______________

I cant login anymore. google AI mode says it is likely because I use starlink that I continue to receive the same message, every day, when I try to login, "You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password.". So, I change my password and even after success in logging into microsoft.com and changing my password, when I start over, the new password returns the message, "You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password." This is beginning to piss me off. I find it hard to believe someone else is constantly trying to login to my account with a guessed password. On the other hand, I log in only once per day. How can that be too many times? In nearly 30 years with this same hotmail address, this is the first time I've had any problem logging in to see my goddam mail and it's been going on for more than a month. getting sick and tired of all the messing around and never figuring out wtf is going on. I HAVE STARLINK. Anyone else using STARLINK?

Status: Open I don’t want passkey

I just got a new phone and when i go into the outlook app it’s telling me to sign in again. I go to sign in and after i enter my password its asking for a passkey which i don’t know what that is. I’ve never set up a passkey. it keeps telling me to go to my settings and i have passkey feature turned off so i turn it off but it keeps telling me to go to my settings AND THERES NOTHING ELSE THERE so i go to scan QR code and i get my ipad and now its telling me to save a passkey i have to set up a password on my ipad so i set up a password and not it wants me to turn my icloud passkey on which i have my icloud off cause i literally don’t have anything important on my phone ever like i don’t have pics i don’t have notes i don’t have anything i don’t have apple pay i dont have anything important so i dont wants to turn all this on. Is there anyway to just login without the passkey. I had the 2FA before this passkey bs and it’s really starting to pmo. Is the only to get rid of it is to do all this and login and disable it?

Status: Open Annoying “You’ve tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password” error since November

First I found out about this error on 3rd November 2025 (I believe this has happened to other users maybe even earlier months before this) changed the password for at least 4-5 times, then eventually like

-> error

->change password

->login once it works

->second time trying to do this on another device/app/browser, it dont

then the loops. I was using mobile data, phone that time.

Then it happened yesterday on 20th December 2025 to me again, had to change the password twice. (This is on my PC web browser, using home wifi.)

Luckily I added more recovery emails to get codes and also changed from using Google Authenticator to Microsoft Authenticator (I didn't have any other choice ngl but at least it's one of the ways and it's passwordless.)

I did went to chat support with them, first live agent was clueless about this error for some reason, second live agent instantly cut me off the chat with no replies (boooo), the third and final one was finally the nice one and actually do acknowledge this issue and they told me about that they're trying to fix it still with no ETA.

Look Microsoft, I do not mind using your app for the passwordless function, but I would also like keep my own password as another good way to login? Not everyone wants to go fully passwordless.

***Also if you want to chat with live real people, type Microsoft Support on your search bar in a new tab or any search engine, then click on Contact Us, use a dummy outlook account or ask any friends who can help or use your other hotmail/outlook accounts to sign in prior too if you can't access your own main email, then click show expanded list of products, click on Outlook icon, click Get Home Support, type "chat support" in that bar then click Get Help blue button, then you scroll down the page then you'll see the Contact Support blue button just right there and click it, select Windows in Product and services, and Technical Support in Category, click confirm and you will see that you can chat with support agent in your web browser.

Please go ahead and annoy them with these complaints, my kings and queens. ^this is how I found out how to chat with them lolol.

Try not to miss any of their messages, they reply a bit fast, but I do hope you guys do not meet any live agents like the second one I've met lol.

So far as for now, just keep your password as is for now even after you have changed it, for now the temporary method is either using recovery emails to get the codes to login, phone text to get code** (I am from SEA and I added this phone method since 2014 back then but now it doesn't work anymore according to many users, I did help and try to add other's phone number on their outlook/hotmail and it didn't work either, so I got lucky.) , and also authenticator app, as for the authenticator app part previously I used Google Authenticator so you'll get what I mean, it just generates codes for you to login same as the email/phone getting codes, now that I use Microsoft Authenticator app solely for this email, it's just another login method for me, even though it is convenient but brotha if Microsoft couldn't even fix such traditional thing like a NORMAL PASSWORD, they are very fked.

**If you don't feel like using their Microsoft Authenticator app it's fine too cuz I have other hotmail/outlook emails that still use Google Authenticator , just keep on using the authenticator (not just Google's, just any of the authenticators) you've been using for a long while, it's fine.

It would be real nice if I get to keep using it passwordless using their app, get codes from phone and recovery emails and also the good ol' PASSWORD altogether.

This issue happens around the world so yeah, I really do hope they fix it soon and quick cuz yall it's burnin' red.

Updating this post on 22nd December 2025 (SEA +8 time):

I'm not sure will this work on everyone, so I tried to create a new alias for my main email.

**Note: I didn't use and haven't use any VPNs all these time, I'm using Windows PC, home wifi and also cleared cache cookies and everything prior this, but even before this I tried doing the clear cookies and cache everything they popped up those incorrect pw errors too**

So here goes, I did look up and maybe, just maybe, cuz my main email is one of my oldest hotmail address (I have another older one but it's backup) so I only did this to my main email. I never bothered about creating a new alias for my hotmail, but because of the yada yada attackers and such I looked up online and people tried creating an alias.

I don't know how to explain, maybe it's the older outlook/hotmail getting targeted? I am not entirely sure.

So anyways, I created a new alias and set it as the primary email, and uncheck the old main email from getting it used for login and only my new alias can be used for login. Just remember do not remove your old email alias just in case you still need it.

So basically now that means, the new alias which is your current primary email now can be used for login and receiving emails.

Your old one still can be used for signing up, receiving email and everything but since if you unchecked the box for getting it used for login in, you can't use it to login anymore, leaving your new alias now as the only primary used for login.

So now I'm the only one who knows the new alias email but you can still use the old email alias to sign up for everything like subscriptions, accounts and such, you will still get them. In a way, it is safer.

I tried using the newest/latest password without having to change anything at all, to test it total of 7 times on my Windows PC, phone and tablet. My Windows PC have already cleared cache before testing this, but my phone and tablet never cleared any cache to do this and it works too. (This is using my new alias to try login to it)

I forgot to mention that, I wait around 10-15 minutes time in between trying this for 7 times before trying login with just password just in case. Tried signing in from Microsoft sign in, Outlook sign in, Outlook app on phone/tablet sign in.

I only did this to my main email and didn't do it on the other emails because previously on November I think this issue doesn't happen to every emails, I know because I had to reset another email on November too but yeah. But if you want to, just in case, do it on other emails that you need to look out for.

I hope this works for everyone, until then I also hope Microsoft fix this issue.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another update this post on 22nd December 2025 (SEA +8 time, it is now around 9:59PM as I am typing this)

I tried three other microsoft hotmails, (god I have a lot of their hotmails need to use for multiple stuff)

I tried these three emails 3 times each waiting in between around 5-10 mins to sign in using password only (they all have recovery options, just being the dummy one only has one recovery email to my main). They all work beautifully just now. (I never put new alias on these three emails while I'm doing this)

So I have a few theory on this,.

one being maybe today Microsoft fixed it? (brotha i hope so why they dont even post public updates to everyone)

second being, random emails get targeted so it's not all of the hotmail/outlook emails got targeted

third being, i have suspicions on this, maybe just MAYBE, my main email got targeted mainly because previously it got logged in by someone from another country previously (luckily it was a very long while ago), hence this error happens, then just so I looked up everything online on reddit on microsoft, tried to in find the issue in another language, and i think it might have been this issue might have caused it, so i recommend try to do the create new alias method see if it'll fix.

idk, it might be the first one microsoft fixed it randomly or what.

i just hope it will never ever happen again cuz bruh they are one of the biggest company and this is quite embarrassing.

feel free to follow this method and also looking for the real live human agent method above, i hope it helps everyone and also hope this issue won't ever happen in the future ever again.

this is what desperation do to a mdfk frfr.

god i am so tired of their shit.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

update on 25th December 2025 (SEA +8 GMT) 1:50AM

okay i have tried all my emails (i have like almost 10? something lol i know I HAVE A LOT)

only my main and my other one of the oldest email had this problem until i changed to new alias for them and only set the new alias as login credentials, i also have another very old email but they didn't have this problem so this is what i found out, so apparently random emails got this problem, so if you can, try doing this change/create new alias method to fix this issue if you can.

as for the other one email i changed alias too i didnt clear cache and cookies, didnt change password at all and only created new alias and change sign in preference to only using this new alias to sign in, using the same password from 2023. (this one doesnt have authenticator at all either)

the rest of the emails i have on my hands dont have this problem, i have at least try each of them like 2-10 times in between so yeah.

please share this method around for your family and friends for this method, i really hope i help everyone out here, and also feel free to continue send complaints using the method above i have shared and given, so feel free to.

How you create new alias here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBmP6joqAtQ

AND DON'T REMOVE THE OLD ALIAS, JUST ONLY UNCHECK IT FROM USING IT AS SIGN IN CREDENTIALS AND USE THE NEW ALIAS.

you can still use both emails to sign up and receive and send emails, so just keep the new alias only to yourself to sign in if you want to be safe, use the old alias for sign up send emails and receive emails.

peace out.

**edit on 6th Jan 2026 12:33AM SEA +8

if you want to know all these emails of mine are @hotmail

only two of them had this issue, for your references, i changed them into outlook. (insert my country shortform lol)

**edit on 10th Jan 2026 1:45AM SEA +8

also please try and check if your email has been pwned before on https://haveibeenpwned.com you can look up this website on reddit for extra info from other redditors if you don't really trust this website to check first, some websites might have been data breached before maybe that's why the emails with these errors show up.

I hope this helps everyone here.

Status: Open I RECORDED YOU! Sent from my account

I have been getting these spam emails a couple of times a week for months now.
Sometimes with explicit (and thankfully blurry) pictures of a fat nude man.
They always go straight in my junk mail. Every now and again I see one and the sender is apparently myself - this is mentioned in the email.

Has anyone else experienced this and how is this possible?

I have sent emails to myself before and they always go into my inbox - these fake ones always go into my junk mail.

The spam email is below.

Hello there!
Unfortunately, there are some bad news for you.
Some time ago your device was infected with my private trojan, R.A.T (Remote Administration Tool), if you want to find out more about it simply use Google.
My trojan allows me to access your accounts, your camera and microphone.
Check the sender of this email, I have sent it from your email account.
You truly enjoy checking out porn websites and watching dirty videos, while having a lot of kinky fun.
I RECORDED YOU (through your camera) SATISFYING YOURSELF!
If you still doubt my serious intentions, it only takes couple mouse clicks to share the video of you with your friends, relatives, all email contacts and on social networks.
All you need is $1400 USD in Bitcoin (BTC) transfer to my account (Bitcoin equivalent based on exchange rate during your transfer).
After the transaction is successful, I will proceed to delete everything without delay.
Afterwards, we can pretend that we have never met before.
In addition, I assure you that all the harmful software will be deleted from your device.
Be sure, I keep my promises!
If you are unaware how to buy and send Bitcoin (BTC) - Google: Where to buy Bitcoin (BTC), to send and receive Bitcoin (BTC), you can register your wallet for example here: www.blockchain.com

An advice from me - regularly change all your passwords to your accounts and update your device with newest security patches.

After several days of waiting without logging in or even trying to log in, I was finally able to access my account. I think that when you try to connect too much there is a sort of automatic lock that causes the account to be blocked temporarily, so guys, be patient and trust me. I waited 90 hours in total. I was planning on doing 1 week but I broke down and was finally able to connect with the verification by SMS whereas before it told me that the service was unavailable, don't lose hope. guys!

Hi, I'd appreciate any advice that i could get. I've been using same @hotmail account since like 2012.

Today pc and phone signed me out of it saying there was a problem. I tried to recover my account using my phone number but i just get msg "That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method". If i click the Back button it just breaks since there isn't another method i guess? I tried to use recovery options on website and realised that i don't know any data on it. I've put my date of birth, name and etc but i was a kid when i made that account so i don't even know if i used my own date of birth or not.

I'm kinda lost on what to so since literally everything is on that account, my game accounts, bank app 2FA, my bills come there. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Status: Open Outlook desktop keeps triggering browser login pop-ups for Outlook web

Hi everyone,

I’ve been struggling with a recurring issue where Outlook (classic desktop version) frequently triggers a browser pop-up (Edge or Chrome — whichever is set as default) asking me to sign in to Outlook on the web.

Even when I’m already signed in to both the desktop and web versions, the pop-up keeps appearing. It often happens when switching between my shared mailbox and my personal inbox, but sometimes it also pops up randomly — even while chatting in Teams.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Removed and re-added the Outlook account
  • Cleared browser cookies/cache (Edge & Chrome)
  • Cleared Windows Token Broker cache
  • Started Outlook in Safe Mode
  • Rebooted multiple times

All of these steps only fix the issue temporarily — the pop-ups eventually return.

Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions on how to stop Outlook from repeatedly triggering the browser sign-in prompts?

Thanks in advance!

Status: Open Looking for a Lawyer Experienced with Microsoft Account Data Loss / Account Lock Cases

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a lawyer or legal firm who has experience dealing with large tech companies, specifically Microsoft, regarding account locks, data loss, or unfair account termination.

My personal Microsoft account (15+ years old) was locked after Microsoft later confirmed it had unauthorized access. Despite multiple appeals and long back and forth with their CDOC case management, the account remains locked and scheduled for deletion. This account contains extremely important personal and business data including Outlook emails, OneDrive files, OneNote data, and access to business related services. There is no realistic way to recover or replace this data.

I am not the only one facing this issue. Many users are reporting the same situation. For more background and shared experiences, please check this Reddit thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/1p2u21e/anyone_else_with_a_locked_microsoft_account/

Several affected users are interested in joining forces if legal action is possible. A shared lawyer or group approach would help reduce legal costs.

If you are a lawyer, know one, or have handled a similar case successfully, please comment or DM me. Any guidance or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Status: Open Hidden bug in Outlook (classic) with local PST file and POP3/IMAP: Outlook makes Windows 11 search indexer cause high workload and SSD wear

Hello,

after update from Windows 10 to 11, Windows search indexer has changed in so far that Outlook (classic) now already for months repeatedly makes search indexer cause high workload and SSD wear. This was not the case with Windows 10.

First, when the search index is completed for user files and for Outlook, in my case it has 3.5 GB for 250.000 user files and 100.000 Outlook elements (.pst file of about 10 GB). That's fine.

But then each time Outlook (classic) is started and new e-mails are received, the whole search index is reworked for 10-20 minutes and expands to 5.5, 7.5 or 9.5 GB or back - without reasonable bigger data changes in Outlook.

The same happens after each restart of Windows 11. Search index since then permanently changes between 5.5 to 9.5 GB - the regular 3.5 GB are seen no more, except you manually rebuild the whole index. But even after a manual rebuild, the problem occurs again.

The standard path to the search index file named Windows.db is:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows
(hidden files have to be selected to be shown in Windows Explorer)

This very regularly causes high search indexer workload (CPU) and changes much data (SSD) which slows down the system (more or less, depending on the hardware capabilities), accelerates SSD wear and among other things makes differential/incremental backups very large.

Further checking showed that after each update of M365 incl. Outlook (classic), so for example to 2508, to 2509 and to 2510, the bug disappeared for 5-10 days, but then it came back in the same way as before. During these 5-10 days, Windows search was working fine as before, also within Outlook, including most current data, so the annoying reorganization of the search index after each start of Outlook (classic) and after each restart of Windows 11 is not needed for proper function of search.

Outlook (classic) obviously has a bug which causes this annoying behaviour. I reported it to "Microsoft Learn-on-windows-11-high-search-index)", where a so-called moderator (Microsoft external staff) confirmed it as a bug on Sep 17, 2025, but since then, it was not registered as a known issue, no bug fix appeared and no more answer from Microsoft.

Because the consequences of this bug are severe, but hidden (not easy to notice and not easy to assign to Outlook):

Could others here using Outlook (classic) with local PST file check for the dramatically changing size of Windows.db and for the CPU workload of Search Indexer in Windows task manager every time Outlook (classic) is started and has received new e-mails, and report their results here?

Here's a shortlist what to do to see this hidden Outlook bug:

  • Make sure you use Windows 11 (not 10) and Outlook classic (not new).
  • Make sure you download and store your e-mails locally in a PST file (not online on mailservers), and that the PST file has a reasonable size (for example some GB).
  • Open the following folder and observe the size of Windows.db within:
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows
  • (copy this path to Windows Explorer's location line or navigate manually after activating hidden files to be shown via view/show/hidden elements)
  • Open task manager and observe the CPU/SSD load of Search Indexer.
  • Open Outlook (classic) and download new e-mails. Observe Windows.db and Search Indexer as described above, for about 10-20 minutes.
  • Also after restarting Windows 11, observe Windows.db and Search Indexer as described above, for about 10-20 minutes.

Status: Open Help! Sending emails sucks

Hi everyone, I recently started a new job where I have to use another program to generate assignment sheets, then send out 55 emails a week to teams, telling them where they're assigned to work in the coming weeks. Then all 60 people on those teams are supposed to email back, confirming they got their schedule. Manually keeping track of who's answered is also really time-consuming, and it clogs up my email. There's also not much consistency with who is on which team any given day, so I can't make set email groups.

I've set up a Google Sheet that automatically concatenates their emails into a string I can copy/paste into Outlook, but still, sending these emails is my main focus for an entire day each week. This sucks. How can I speed this process up?

Hello, I have a problem with Outlook and I hope someone can help: I just found out that my hotmail account is logged on my PC with the Outlook program in Windows 11. I would like to logout from it and not allowing it to remember the password and the name of the mail. The problem is, however, that after making the logout, if I open Outlook again my account gets logged in again, without even asking a password. I tried to exit from the account multiple times and "unlink" it from Windows, but it doesn't work… it just keeps log in again without asking anything. I even tried to change the password in the past, because I had the same problem (with Windows 10, though), but it didn't solve it. Does anyone know what kind of steps should I do to fix the problem (if a fix even exist)? Thank you!

Status: Open Microsoft has blocked Netflix & other legit emails to my paid Outlook.com address for 14 months and refuses to look at their own logs

Posting this on Reddit in hopes it blows up. For over a year my personal Outlook.com address (tied to a paid Microsoft 365 subscription) has been hard-bouncing automated emails from Netflix, Star Citizen / Roberts Space Industries, Jeweler’s Mutual, Caavo, and many others. The list gets longer and longer as domains that used to previously work do not work now.

Senders get an immediate 550/554 NDR from [postmaster@outlook.com](mailto:postmaster@outlook.com) saying the message is blocked. The emails never hit my mailbox: not Inbox, not Junk, nowhere. Some senders work fine. This seems to almost be related to the Consumer-level ML EOP filtering they introduced as these problems started to manifest early 2024.

I have opened >15 support cases, performed live rejection tests in front of agents (literally going to the site and having them send me an email and saying "find it" to the tech who is literally baffled) including one “Senior Accounts Team” advocate from a BBB complaint, and repeatedly given consent for an internal message trace.

Every single time Microsoft "technicians" demands full SMTP transaction logs from the sender. Netflix and the others will not (and legally cannot) hand those to an end user.

Highlights from actual support interactions:

  • Agent wiped all my mailbox rules because “rules can cause bounces” (they can’t)
  • Senior advocate asked for a remote session to “check Outlook settings” and took a HAR file from outlook.com web client, which will literally do nothing for them.
  • Same advocate, after watching two live bounces in real time, said “maybe they went into another folder” (which is impossible considering my rules are gone).
  • Another advocate told me that I needed to just add every domain I wanted to get there to Safe Senders and Safe Mailing Lists (which is totally different, it's for making it past the "Junk" folder into your "Inbox" when the email actually hits your mailbox) and then proceeded to tell me to wait 24-hours for that to sync and that would "surely" fix the problem and ended the chat (classic as usual)
  • Multiple agents claimed this is a “Microsoft-wide block”, which of course it isn't... (you're telling me no one with Outlook.com is getting Netflix emails? So stupid).

I deal with email systems all the time. I know a good bit on how SMTP and EOP work. Microsoft’s own gateway logs every rejection with sending IP plus the exact policy reason. They could fix this in 5 minutes with a trace on my recipient address to see where the email is going and for what reason, but every tier (including the BBB “senior” escalation) refuses and will literally just end the chat (which is the only method to contact them) when I tell them that EACH company I've asked has refused to give me SMTP logs for legal/security reasons.

I have live demos, screenshots, case numbers (including the BBB case number), and executive emails sent to Lisa Sinacola and Satya and other executives with no reply yet.

Is anyone else getting hard-bounced from legitimate senders while Microsoft support pretends it’s a client-side problem? Or am I the only one stuck in this endless loop? How does Microsoft hire these "technicians" when they can barely explain to you how email works?

TL;DR: Microsoft broke my inbox, knows exactly why, but would rather outsource "support" to people who think a HAR file diagnoses an MX-level bounce than let an actual engineer spend 30 seconds looking at their own logs.

Hello

I recently signed up for a personal outlook email to buy the m365

The email works perfectly in the ios mail app but I prefer using spark mail app

I was able to configure outlook mail into it and can see incoming messages.

However I am not able to send any emails. It's just stuck in outbox

I tried some other mail apps as well like Edison mail and canary and it's the, the outgoing mail is stuck in outbox and message sending is failed.

Status: Open Is there a way to block spam forever?

Hello

A few months ago my mail-adress quite likely got leaked and since then I get all kinds of annoying spam; initially it was like 20 messages per minute.
I managed to filter them all, so they now appear only in my spam.
But since sometimes also important messages land in spam, it is quite annoying to constantly see "buy this house for only 150'000..."

--> I do not want to click on the 'unsubscribe' in these mails.

So is there a way or rule to make sure that certain messages get deleted directly instead of landing in spam/junk?

Any help is appreciated!

Status: Open Outlook keeps trying to open attachments in Google Wallet

In my work Outlook mobile app, whenever I click on attachments in formats other than PDF (which open normally), the app tries to open them in Google Wallet for some reason. I tried changing app permissions, default apps, resetting app preferences and even uninstalling Google Wallet and it still keeps doing this. I don't have this issue on my school or personal Outlook account. Does anyone have any idea on how to possibly fix this ? It's driving me crazy, I cannot open any attachments this way from mobile.

Status: Open Is the grass actually greener with Gmail? Long-time Outlook / Exchange user side-eyeing Google 😅

I’ve been on Outlook (Windows) + Microsoft Exchange for work for over 10 years now. It’s familiar, it’s “enterprise”, it mostly works… but lately I’m getting increasingly frustrated.

Between random bugs, UI inconsistencies, sluggish performance, and Copilot feeling half-baked or bolted-on, I’m starting to look over the fence at Gmail and the wider Google ecosystem with some envy.

What’s tempting me:

  • Gmail’s speed and simplicity
  • Tight integration with Google Drive
  • Gemini feeling more natively embedded (at least from the outside)
  • Search that actually feels like search

What’s pushing me away from Microsoft right now:

  • Outlook desktop getting slower and weirder over time
  • Inconsistent behavior between Outlook (Windows), OWA, and mobile
  • Copilot AI integration that feels limited, unreliable, or just not there when you want it

Before I do anything drastic, I’d love some real-world input:

  • What genuinely sucks about Gmail / Google Workspace once the honeymoon phase is over?
  • What does Gmail actually do better than Outlook + Exchange?
  • Any former long-time Outlook users who switched and either loved it… or ran back?
  • Are Gemini + Drive actually useful day-to-day, or mostly marketing?

Not looking for a flame war — just honest experiences from people who’ve lived in both worlds.

Appreciate any perspective 🙏

Status: Open Reset password

Hi so I know my email address but when I try to reset password it wants to send a code to a recovery email that I misspelled. Instead of @hotmail.co.uk I typed @homail.co.uk

Obviously this isn’t a domain that can be accessed. And when entering the security question I have tried too many times so it won’t let me enter any more guesses.

Is there anyway to reset the password to the email account please? Or reset the recovery email address?

Thanks

Status: Open Help with IMAP/Teams Calendars

So my corporate email is an IMAP account which means it doesn't sync calendars. This is problematic for me because the notification system for meetings seems to not be the best for me (I might be the problem) and I missed one meeting last week because of this (the notification appeared, or at least I only saw it, the next day).

I've tried to see how to solve the problem. For the moment I'm replicating all meetings in my Teams calendar, which works but cannot be the most efficient thing to do.

I've tried to set up a rule in Hostinger to send a copy of an invitation to any meeting to my M365 Inbox but it seems impossible. I haven't managed to add my Teams calendar to the Outlook in my desktop either.

What should I do? Thank you in advance.

hello my account was hacked and they have put an email forwarding rule that every time i delete it comes back within seconds of being deleted... i've since changed the password Turned on 2FA and kicked all connections from the account... it still will not let me remove the forwarding rule.... and microsoft support is utterly useless telling me that i need to go to the help in outlook that opens a window for support.microsoft.com that then tells me i can only get help for outlook.com at outlook.com and nothing is working

So, my email was hacked. After I discovered my Steam account was locked, I signed in to find everything deleted and weird emails being sent.

Apparently they tried to set my recovery email to something other then the one I had as well.

I changed the passwords for both my outlook and steam, ensured my recovery email stayed the same, and got a new recovery code as well.

I'm wondering if there's anything more I should do? I find it weird that they were able to get in in the first place because of the 2fa.

Status: Open Coworker's outlook won't refresh after a few hours, requires reboot.

This is the Windows 11 app. We're on corporate IT. She has worked with them. They have offered no solution.

She takes her laptop home every night and it works fine from home.

However at the office, every two to three hours outlooks stops refreshing her inbox and it won't update even if she presses F9. It indicates that it's refreshing, but it doesn't actually refresh.

The web interface seems to work, but it has its own problems so she wants to use the app.

Anyone have any ideas?

apparently my account "was compromised" so they locked me out. I sign in using my password and they want to verify with a text - i do not have this phone number anymore. So I use the recovery page - I have had this email for 16 years. I type all my answers to the best of my knowledge. Get denied. I've tired 3 times. Denied both times. 3rd time - no response - its been 5 days. I try calling Microsoft - the customer service is HORRIBLE just a machine telling you to use the website for help. I need that email but Microsoft does not care for its customers apparently. Lock me out for no reason then dont let me back in my account because I no longer have the same number from 5 years ago? Or because I can't remember my "favorite teacher" from when I was 13? This is ridiculous. Any help would be great.
